The World is a Stage

There is no doubting the cinematic and cultural influence of Batman’s arch nemesis The Joker with this latest offering pairing him with Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga) looking to be the best yet. Joaquin Phoenix again stars as Arthur ‘Joker’ Fleck in Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie a Deux”. A sequel hugely anticipated by the fans as Phillips  presents his own unique take on the ‘Clown Prince of Crime’. Advertising agency Legion Creative have designed a truly stunning second teaser poster, featuring an extreme close-up of the titular Joker and newcomer Harley Quinn with the title ‘Folie a Deux’ cleverly incorporated into the JOKER typography. Much like the first movie which used ‘Put on a Happy Face’ as its tagline, the sequel takes ‘The World is a Stage’ as a clever enticement for the things to come. Originally rolled (as issued) this landscape format UK quad presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a hugely collectable item of movie memorabilia for one of popular culture’s most recognised anti-hero’s.

Trivia: The Joker’s make-up is very similar to John Wayne Gacy‘s, a serial killer who would often entertain children while dressed as Pogo the Clown. This make-up style was shunned by working clowns at the time, as they strictly prohibit “sharp” ends in their make-up, as it scares children.

Trivia:

Joker” was the first R rated movie in history to make $1 billion worldwide.

The film’s working title is “Folie a Deux”, which means “Madness of Two” in French. This initially led to speculation about Harley Quinn’s appearance in the film, which was shortly thereafter confirmed. The name Folie a Deux comes from the 19th century French psychiatrist Charles Lasègue and Jules Falret, also known as Lasègue-Falret syndrome, and it depicts two or more people that they share the same madness or delirium.

This will be the first major DC Comics film to be released under the new “DC Elseworlds” banner. The term was firstly created in 1991 by DC Comics for the stories out of the canon, set in alternate realities.

Like Joaquin Phoenix in both Joker films, Lady Gaga went full method acting for her performance. She insisted that the cast and crew to only call her “Lee” filming. Cinematographer for each Joker film, Lawrence Sher, was quoted saying, “I never even met the real Lady Gaga on set, I didn’t know her at all.”

The first trailer received 167 million online views within the first 24 hours, the second-most of any Warner Bros. film, after It (2017), with 197 million.

A red and green light reflections can be seen when Arthur is in his jail, which are his colours as Joker.

The song used in the trailer is “What the World Needs Now Is Love”, performed by Tom Jones and published as part of his 1970 album “I Who Have Nothing”.
