Graham Humphreys’ beautifully rendered artwork for Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” introduced the world to one of horror’s most evil and greatest personalities: Freddy Krueger. Setting a high bench mark for modern horror artwork Humphreys’ country unique imagery for the UK quad design is one of the most sought after film posters of the 80’s and the horror genre. Graham Humpreys‘ has been dubbed England’s greatest living horror artist and it’s not hard to see why when you see this beautiful UK quad film poster from first year of release 1984. Totally original and unrestored, this rolled (as issued) example is presented in excellent condition with unfaded dark black/blue colour tones and very minimal age and handling wear. The best Extremely scarce and a must have for the serious collector it represents a fantastic item of horror movie memorabilia. Trivia: The very first time we see Freddy in the movie, he isn’t being played by Robert Englund, but by Special Effects man Charles Belardinelli, as Belardinelli was the only one who knew exactly how to cut the glove and insert the blades.

After the acclaim artist Graham Humphreys’ earned after his outstanding work on the British marketing campaign for Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” it came as no surprise that he was commissioned once again for the sequel “A Nightmare on Elm Street: Part 2 – Freddy’s Revenge”. With the success of the character Freddy is no longer a horror character to keep hidden on the advertising material and Humphreys certainly doesn’t hold back as Krueger’s fire scarred visage takes up nearly all of the poster with his (now familiar) battered fedora and razor bladed glove included in the imagery. Setting a high bench mark for modern horror artwork Humphreys’ imagery was only used for the UK quad design and is one of the most sought after film posters of the 80’s and the horror genre. Trivia: The original glove from A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) was used in this movie and was also seen hanging on the wall of the work shed in Evil Dead II (1987). This was in response to the use of The Evil Dead (1981) on a television screen in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), and part of a continued banter between directors Wes Craven and Sam Raimi. However, when Wes Craven loaned the glove to the A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) set, it was lost but eventually found by a Freddy fan, Mike Becker, at an auction in 2009.

As the poster implies, the title of the movie refers to a scene in the film in which the lead character is caught masturbating with a pie after earlier being told that “third base” feels “like warm apple pie”. Needless to say the film was a box-office hit.

John Landis’ “An American Werewolf in London” is one of the best werewolf movies ever made, full of dark humour and gory thrills. As most people know, this has one of the best human/werewolf transformation scenes in cinematic history. Unlike modern monster/horror movies of today, this film has no CGI or computer-aided special effects; what you see on the screen is a physical production made piece for which Rick Baker won the Oscar. This 2021 alternative movie poster by the American graphic artist Todd Alcott shows a very understated and restrained design for a horror poster as David (David Naughton), Jack (Griffin Dunne), Nurse Alex Price (Jenny Agutter) plus a number of London landmarks are represented as characters on what appears to be a beaten up paperback book cover. Presented in excellent condition this rolled (as issued) example displays superbly and has been printed too look distressed. Alcott’s impressive piece of poster artwork represents a great twist on traditional horror movie memorabilia and is a great example in the rapidly expanding area of alternative movie posters. “I vote we go back to the Slaughtered Lamb”
Trivia: Rick Baker claimed to have been disappointed by the amount of time spent shooting the face changing shot for the transformation after having spent months working on the mechanism. John Landis only required one take lasting about seven seconds. Baker felt he had wasted his time until seeing the film with an audience that applauded during that one seven second shot.

Trivia: John Landis wrote the screenplay for this film following an incident while shooting Kelly’s Heroes (1970) (while he was a go-fer) in the countryside of Yugoslavia. While driving along a country road with a colleague, Landis encountered a gypsy funeral. The body was being buried in a massively deep grave, feet first, while wrapped in garlic so he would not rise from the dead.

“Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas”
Sam Raimi’s “Army of Darkness: Evil Dead 3” is not as rooted in the horror genre as its predecessors – although it has its horrific elements, it seems to be first and foremost a dark fantasy comedy – with lots of one-liners and slapstick and gore. It’s kind of a delirious combination of horror, comedy, fantasy, action, and adventure, but it’s definitely the horror element that comes across in this 2017 alternative movie poster from Graham Humphreys. The medieval dead and undead never looked scarier and are out in full force as the hero from the previous two instalments – Ash (Bruce Campbell) cuts a worried looking figure. Originally rolled (as issued) the example offered here is truly exceptional; This limited edition it has been signed by Humphreys and hand-numbered #48/100 and displays and presents to excellent effect with amazing imagery and deep, rich colours. The horror ‘fan-boy’ love for Sam Raimi & Bruce Campbell is well deserved with related memorabilia much sought after, making this a hugely collectable piece.

In arguably the most famous role of her career, Jane Fonda stars as “Barbarella” in Roger Vadim’s, campy, sci-fi fantasy. Based on the hugely popular French comic strip by Jean-Claude Forest the film is considered one of the 1960s quintessential cult movies. Its stylish and colourful comic art layout scenes are truly unique for the period, and represent a nice homage to its comic book roots. These scenes are captured to great effect in a series of eight British front of house lobby cards with Fonda featured in all, including the iconic and super sexy ray-gun in hand pose. Originally flat-unfolded (as issued) this beautiful complete set of all eight cards display to excellent effect with only minimal handling wear, vibrant, unfaded colours and an incredible selection of key scenes. An impressive set of highly collectable cinematic memorabilia for a much admired sci-fi classic that rarely turns up complete.
Trivia: Jane Fonda is filmed at times, especially during the opening spacesuit striptease sequence, in the famous French director’s “Vadim Tease” directorial style.

In arguably the most famous role of her career, Jane Fonda stars as “Barbarella” in Roger Vadim’s, campy, sci-fi fantasy. Based on the hugely popular French comic strip by Jean-Claude Forest the film is considered one of the 1960s quintessential cult movies. With its stylish and pop art inspired colourful design by Renato Fratini and Robin Ray the British Quad features country unique artwork not seen on any other paper for the title. Originally folded (as issued) this beautiful unrestored example displays to excellent effect with vibrant, unfaded colours that pop from the paper (the photo just doesn’t do the colours justice) and pure bright white background. It would make for a fantastic addition to any collection or as a one-off display piece. One of the best condition examples of this poster I have offered for sale, that represents a highly collectable piece of cinematic memorabilia for a much admired cult, sci-fi classic.
Trivia: Barbarella was the first science fiction hero from comics to be adapted into a feature film, as opposed to a serial. Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers, her male predecessors, had only appeared in serials.
