“A look at the life and legend of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.”
Due to a very limited cinematic release of this ‘art-house’ independent movie this poster is a truly scarce item of sports memorabilia, an original 2021 one-sheet movie poster for Jason Ferguson’s biopic “Alex Ferguson: Never Give In”. A strikingly simple poster design that clearly tells you that it is advertising a film about one of Manchester United‘s most successful manager and one of football’s greatest ever character’s – Alex Ferguson. Halfway between a sports documentary and a social statement on how a high profile job in football affects the life of everyone around them. Originally rolled (as issued) this superb example displays and presents to excellent effect featuring a portrait style close up colour photograph of the titular Ferguson. A fine piece of original memorabilia that will appeal to the Manchester United fan, sports and movie poster collector for one of the most lauded, famous and recognised football manager’s on the planet.
Trivia: Roy Keane refused to be interviewed for this film.

One of cinemas all time classic movies is Ridley Scott’s Oscar winning deep space horror “Alien”. The worldwide marketing campaign is instantly recognisable by the (now) iconic alien ‘egg’ imagery designed by the creative agency Bemis Balkind, and it was accompanied by a wealth of other memorabilia to market the movie. This included fully licensed Studio items, and the two lobby cards available here are first class examples of that high quality officially endorsed material. These are from a special commercial set of two colour prints that was “Published by Turn-Point Publishing Corp.” at the time of the film’s release in 1979 and sold primarily through the sci-fi comic book store ‘Forbidden Planet’. The images chosen couldn’t be more striking- a close up of the iconic chestburster scene as the Alien first appears bursting out of Kane’s (John Hurt) body and as the film reaches its climax the fully formed Alien is about to attack Ripley (Sigourney Weaver). Neither of these images (it would have been a bit of a spoiler) appear in any other lobby card images for the movie. Originally flat and unfolded (as issued) these two cards present and display to very good effect, with only minimal handling wear. Hugely collectable and a fantastic piece of cinematic movie memorabilia from a truly influential movie that changed the face of modern sci-fi horror forever.
Trivia: Director Sir Ridley Scott and writers Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett wanted H.R. Giger to design the alien creatures based on drawings from his book ‘Necronomicon’, but they had some difficulties in convincing the studio. Executives were initially appalled by Giger’s dark and disturbing imagery, but Scott’s insistence finally won them over. Even so, Giger’s designs had to be changed several times because of their blatant sexuality.

One of cinemas all time classic movies is Ridley Scott’s Oscar winning deep space horror “Alien”. The worldwide marketing campaign is instantly recognisable by the (now) iconic alien ‘egg’ imagery designed by the creative agency Bemis Balkind, and it is also one of the most licensed titles to commission for the alternative movie poster market with some incredible re-imagined imagery on offer, with this offering from Chris Koehler one of the best in my opinion – it just evokes the whole feel of the movie and features a key scene from the Film’s climax. Set in the shadows, the Alien is perfectly camouflaged by the workmanlike design of the ship’s interior, with colours that perfectly suit the subject matter. Issued as part of Hero Complex Gallery’s Ridley Scott show in 2021 the full art style (no title or credits) has been hand-numbered #12 from a print run of only 30. Originally rolled (as issued) this presents and displays to excellent effect. Hugely collectable and a fantastic piece of cinematic movie memorabilia from a truly influential movie that changed the face of modern sci-fi horror forever.

“One person can change your life forever.”
Despite being caught in her imaginative world, Amelie (Audrey Tautou), a young waitress, decides to help people find happiness. Her quest to spread joy leads her on a journey where she finds true love. Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s is a truly heart warming cinematic experience, with the casting of Audrey Tautou as the titular Amelie or to give its full title Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain a masterstroke. So it’s no surprise to see her featured so prominently on the movie posters that accompanied the release in 2001. This US one-sheet from this first year of release was originally rolled and displays very well with only minimal handling wear – it really is a beautiful, character focused film poster that represents a fine item of cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The main colors in the film (green, yellow and red) are inspired by the paintings of the Brazilian artist Juarez Machado.

“The girl behind the name”
When released in July “AMY” went on to break UK box office records for a documentary in its opening weekend and has since gone on to become the highest grossing British documentary film of all time. An incredible feat for a film with a very limited release & showing in only a handful of cinemas. Made by the award winning team responsible for the excellent “Senna”, “AMY” tells the heartbreaking story of the late jazz/ blues singer Amy Winehouse. The original UK quad film poster to accompany the release was designed by the creative arts agency Territory Studio, who have produced an eye catching piece. The advertising campaign was very low key and the UK film posters that accompanied the extremely limited cinema release are truly scarce. Originally rolled this incredibly rare example displays to excellent effect and represents a fantastic collectable item of music/ film / cultural memorabilia for a true music icon.
Trivia: Amy Winehouse‘s immediate family were initially willing to work with the film’s producers and director, having heard about the success of their earlier documentary, Senna (2010). They granted the filmmakers access to hours of archive footage of Amy and her family, as well as giving the filmmakers’ their blessing to interview Amy’s family and friends. However, they – in particular, Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse – soon began to feel they were being misrepresented in the documentary, that the negative aspects of Amy’s life were receiving much more attention than the positive, and that footage had been edited in order to produce an inaccurate narrative of Amy’s story, especially the last three years of her life. Mitch Winehouse has said that Amy’s fans should consider seeing the film for the rare, previously unseen, archive footage of his daughter, but should pay no attention to the film’s general portrayal of her, which he has labeled “preposterous”.

John Landis’ “An American Werewolf in London” is one of the best werewolf movies ever made, full of dark humour and gory thrills. As most people know, this has one of the best human/werewolf transformation scenes in cinematic history. Unlike modern monster/horror movies of today, this film has no CGI or computer-aided special effects; what you see on the screen is a physical production made piece for which Rick Baker won the Oscar. This ‘International’ style one-sheet, features totally different art than the ‘regular’ version, with imagery of a blood-red wolf against a black background – it is far more scarce and distinctive than the regular poster, and is far more desired by collectors. Presented in excellent condition this folded (as issued) example displays superbly and is an impressive piece of horror poster artwork and is a hugely desirable piece of cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Rick Baker claimed to have been disappointed by the amount of time spent shooting the face changing shot for the transformation after having spent months working on the mechanism. John Landis only required one take lasting about seven seconds. Baker felt he had wasted his time until seeing the film with an audience that applauded during that one seven second shot.

Although the Andy Warhol name is only referred to in the title for Jed Johnson’s 1977 shock comedy “Andy Warhol’s BAD” it cannot be said that the accompanying movie poster (not by Warhol) for this New World Pictures release is not impressive. An eye-catching, stylish design with an amazingly bright colour palette. Any art or memorabilia with a Warhol connection is very collectable and this original 1977 US one sheet is no exception. Presented unrestored, in original folded (as issued) condition this lovely example displays very well and represents a fine piece of original movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Perry King said Andy Warhol told him in reference to the plot of bad “I wanted to make a film about evil women and incompetent men”

“To know death, Otto, you have to f**k life…in the gall bladder!”
Although the Andy Warhol name is only referred to in the title for Paul Morrissey’s 1974 campy, shock horror “Andy Warhol’s Flesh for Frankenstein” it cannot be said that the accompanying front of house lobby cards (not by Warhol) for this Bryanston Pictures release are not artistically impressive with some stylish horror and character imagery. The card I chose to highlight the set is a fantastic homage to the gothic horror offerings of the past with a female and male ‘zombie’ creation by Baron Frankenstein. Any memorabilia with a Warhol connection is very collectable and this complete set of all eight (8) front of house lobby cards is no exception. Presented unrestored, in original fla/folded (as issued) condition this lovely set displays very well and represents a fine collection of original movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The film was shot with a 3D technique called Spacevision. Unlike other 3D films that usually required red and blue glasses, this one required polarized glasses with one lens slightly shifted, which allowed full colors in the film. The 3D effects were mostly pronounced in the center of the screen.

A clever, stylish design with FRANKENSTEIN apparently written in blood over an open cut then sewn together in thick black thread…certainly memorable. Any art or memorabilia with a Warhol connection is very collectable and this original 1974 US one sheet is no exception. “The Avengers. That’s what we call ourselves; we’re sort of like a team. ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ type thing.”
BLT Communications LLC pulled out all the stops when they designed the marketing campaign posters for Joss Whedon’s blockbuster “Avengers”. This original 2012 country of origin one-sheet for Marvel’s all action super hero romp is certainly impressive as all the heroes are beautifully realised; Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Nick Fury stand proud and battle ready in a ravaged New York. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks stunning and displays to excellent and impressive effect. One of the best looking posters to date for any of the prolific Marvel Studios releases with spectacular super-hero imagery that represents a fine piece of collectable modern cinema movie memorabilia. If movie posters follow the trend of the comics, then ‘key’ and first appearances will become equally significant…this features the first appearances of Thanos.
Trivia: Due to this movie’s record-breaking success at the box office, it made Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson three of the top ten highest grossing actors and actress of all time at second, fifth, and tenth respectively.

“There are six stones out there. Thanos already has the Power Stone because he stole it last week when he decimated Xandar. He stole the Space Stone from me when he destroyed my ship and slaughtered half my people. The Time and Mind Stones are safe on Earth, they’re with the Avengers.”
Creative design agency LA pulled out all the stops when they issued the marketing campaign posters for the Marvel Studios’ blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War”. This original 2018 US / International style one-sheet movie poster for Marvel’s all action super hero romp is certainly impressive as all the heroes are beautifully realised; Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther stand proud and battle ready in the portrait format (a rare format for this cast style) of the on-sheet. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks stunning and displays and presents to excellent effect. One of the best looking posters to date for any of the prolific Marvel Studios releases with spectacular detailed imagery and bright colours. A hugely important and collectable piece of movie memorabilia from the Studio that can do no wrong.
