  • Parasite Alternative Movie Poster

    Parasite

    £195.00

“Act like you own the place…”

Through films like Okja and Snowpiercer, director Bong Joon Ho has dazzled audiences with his unique knack for blending genres to tell layered, one-of-a-kind stories and now in the South Korean black comedy thriller “Parasite” he is receiving the critical and commercial acclaim he so richly deserves. To complement the Oscar success the hugely respected alternative movie poster printer Mondo commissioned Rory Kurtz to design a poster to complement the success. Winning four (4) Oscars at the 2020 ceremony, including Best Picture, Directing, International Feature Film and Writing (Original Screenplay). Kurtz’ artwork captures the seemingly picture-perfect moment between the happily rich Parks completely oblivious to what’s unfolding around them, and the Kim family relegated to the shadows struggling with their own complex feelings toward such wealth and privilege. This is a limited edition timed released, hand-numbered #616/2120. The example offered here presents and displays to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued) with incredibly strong colours. An outstanding and extremely scarce ‘modern’ art/film poster that represents a fantastic piece of movie memorabilia.

Trivia: The film makes several nods to Alfred Hitchcock throughout. Stairs are used as a motif, voyeurism is used as characters watch scenes through windows 14 times, and (most obviously) there is a brief glimpse of an out of place Alfred Hitchcock collection in the Park’s home.

Original 1985 UK Quad movie poster for the best movie poster Michael J. Fox made, that isn’t “Back to the Future”, Rod Daniel’s teenage angst comedy with a werewolf twist “Teen Wolf”. With artwork by Lucinda Cowell, I personally feel it displays far better in the landscape format of the UK quad than the equivalent one-sheet. • The Blues Brothers Movie Poster

    The Blues Brothers

    £165.00

“It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark… and we’re wearing sunglasses”

One of the few films that truly deserves to be called a ‘classic’. John Landis’ 1980 action comedy rollercoaster “The Blues Brothers”.  Over the years this movie has built up a huge cult following and established itself as the benchmark for which other action comedy films are compared against; it’s not many that come close. Any paper from the original release is extremely scarce and very sought after – making this original, very displayable Australian waybill hugely desirable and features Jake (John Belushi) & Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) Blues in classic pose dancing atop an over turned police patrol car that perfectly suits the film’s mood and vibe. Originally folded (as issued) it displays very well and is a fine example of very rare original and collectable movie memorabilia for the screens best loved anarchic action musical comedy that is “The Blues Brothers”

  • The Boy Friend Movie Poster

    The Boy Friend

    £595.00

“When the leading lady of a low-budget musical revue sprains her ankle, the assistant stage manager is forced to understudy and perform in her place, becoming a star and finding love in the process.”

A superb pop-art style design of Twiggy draped in the British Union Jack flag, by Polish School of Posters maestro Jakub Erol features on this original Polish film poster for Ken Russell’s 1971 musical extravaganza “The Boy Friend”. Offered here is an original 1973 (first release in Poland) Polish one-sheet finished in a very striking , country unique style with this example being the first time I have offered one for sale. The Polish artists were instructed to reject Western values in their posters and were to follow rules about appropriate messaging, but other than that, they had complete artistic freedom. This resulted in some truly unique and bold designs, chock-full with individual personality, wit and subversive commentary. Heavy in metaphors and symbolism and executed in a painterly fashion with handcrafted typography the posters of the Polish School of Posters significantly influenced the international development of graphic design. Originally folded (as issued) this looks and displays very well and has benefitted greatly from being conservation linen backed; the bold colour tones are superb and unfaded and literally ‘pop’ from the paper. Guaranteed original this represents an extremely scarce and desirable item of original collectable movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Vladek Sheybal‘s character, the director De Thrill, was a parody of famed director Cecil B. DeMille, and in fact Sheybal wore a pair of the actual boots DeMille always wore.

“Are you Monsieur Gustave of the Grand Budapest Hotel in Nebelsbad ?”

A beautiful movie poster for Wes Anderson’s best film to date, the multi Oscar winning 2014 production “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. Designed by creative arts agency BLT Communications, this original 2014 UK Quad film poster is the Style B version featuring the titular hotel and has been finished in a vintage / retro style which  looks quite amazing; very impressive and the landscape layout of the British quad is the best way to display the imagery. £295.00

“Viago, Deacon, and Vladislav are vampires who are struggling with the mundane aspects of modern life, like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming flatmate conflicts.”

A superb and eye-catching alternative movie poster by Graham Humphreys’ for the cult dark comedy horror “What We Do in the Shadows”. Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement.created the clever idea of a family of vampires living together under the same roof and the struggles they encounter in modern day life.
