Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Movie Poster

“If adventure has a name…it must be Indiana Jones.”

Certainly the rarest and arguably the most sought after design for “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. This British one-sheet displays the painted artwork style by artist Mike Vaughan which features a montage of just about all the best elements from this film; from the heart wrenching evil villain Mola Ram, to the comic relief character Short Round, to the epic cable bridge scene with Indy fending off attackers with a sword and whip from both sides. Its hardly a wonder why this poster is so desirable; it beautifully evokes the best parts of this all-action series. Originally rolled, as issued to the cinema this superb example displays to excellent effect being presented in totally unrestored high grade condition with only light handling wear. Often seen as the ‘weakest’ of the franchise (not so in my book) this is considerably rarer than posters from the other films and is genuinely very scarce in this British portrait format and represents a¬†fantastic piece of scarce original movie memorabilia for an incredibly popular and well loved series of films.

Trivia: While filming the whipping scene, the crew played a practical joke on Harrison Ford. While he was chained to a large stone, Barbra Streisand appeared, dressed in a leather dominatrix outfit. She proceeded to whip him, saying “That’s for Hanover Street (1979), the worst movie I ever saw.” She continued whipping him for Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), and making all of that money. Carrie Fisher then threw herself in front of Ford to protect him, and Irvin Kershner chided director Steven Spielberg. “Is this how you run your movies ?” This entire sequence was filmed.
