“One Million Years B.C.” is the most iconic of all Hammer posters features the quintessential image of Raquel Welch at her peak. Designed and illustrated by Tom Chantrell, Welch’s clad in fur-bikini image formed the centrepiece for arguably the most successful marketing campaign in Hammer’s history. Extremely scarce this is a country of origin example ‘full size artwork’ (another version exists with smaller imagery which was used by the ABC cinema chain with the backup feature The Bugs Bunny Show) UK quad film poster from first year of release 1966. Totally original and unrestored this sought after example needs to be seen in the flesh to be fully appreciated. Originally folded (as issued) this exceptional poster has stood the test of time and displays to excellent effect. The vibrant bright pink lettering really zings from the paper (apologies but this doesn’t really come across in the photograph). One of the best examples of British movie poster artwork and a real personal favourite. Incredibly collectable it represents one of the most desirable film posters ever produced and a fine piece of iconic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: A poster of Raquel Welch‘s character of Loana from this film was featured in numerous other films and TV series episodes. One of the most famous examples of this is the film The Shawshank Redemption (1994).

“Everything is in its proper place… Except the past”..Rare and original UK Quad film poster for Robert Redford’s 1980 multi-Oscar winning family drama “Ordinary People”. One of the great silent films, Georg Wilhelm Pabst’s “Pandora’s Box” is renowned for its sensational storyline, sparkling Weimar-period setting and the legendary, lead performance from its iconic star Louise Brooks who is featured prominently on the poster imagery. As a general rule BFI re-release posters are incredibly scarce due to limited print runs and distribution, being shown in literally a handful of independent and ‘art-house’ cinemas with the updated imagery often superior to many of the original release designs. The rolled (as issued) UK quad offered here is from the 2020 digital restoration BFI release and displays to excellent effect with beautiful imagery and design; lovely bright bold colours. A fantastic looking item and a fine piece of cinema memorabilia for a true classic of the silent era.
Trivia: Despite being replaced by Louise Brooks at the last minute for the role of Lulu in Pandora’s Box (1929), Marlene Dietrich managed to snag another coveted role. Her removal from “Pandora’s Box” freed her up to play one of her most iconic roles, Lola Lola in Josef von Sternberg‘s The Blue Angel (1930).

“Act like you own the place…”
Through films like Okja and Snowpiercer, director Bong Joon Ho has dazzled audiences with his unique knack for blending genres to tell layered, one-of-a-kind stories and now in the South Korean black comedy thriller “Parasite” he is receiving the critical and commercial acclaim he so richly deserves. To complement the Oscar success the hugely respected alternative movie poster printer Mondo commissioned Rory Kurtz to design a poster to complement the success. Winning four (4) Oscars at the 2020 ceremony, including Best Picture, Directing, International Feature Film and Writing (Original Screenplay). Kurtz’ artwork captures the seemingly picture-perfect moment between the happily rich Parks completely oblivious to what’s unfolding around them, and the Kim family relegated to the shadows struggling with their own complex feelings toward such wealth and privilege. This is a limited edition timed released, hand-numbered #616/2120. The example offered here presents and displays to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued) with incredibly strong colours. An outstanding and extremely scarce ‘modern’ art/film poster that represents a fantastic piece of movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The film makes several nods to Alfred Hitchcock throughout. Stairs are used as a motif, voyeurism is used as characters watch scenes through windows 14 times, and (most obviously) there is a brief glimpse of an out of place Alfred Hitchcock collection in the Park’s home.

“They opened a whole in time. Now there is no going back”…Extremely rare original UK Quad for Stewart Raffill’s 1984 sci-fi thriller “The Philadelphia Experiment”. With stunning country unique (UK) artwork by master poster artist Bryan Bysouth and design by Feref Associates this example really does grab your attention. Originally rolled this looks and displays very well with great colours and superb imagery.

“Don’t be afraid of the dark. Be afraid of what’s in the dark”
An original 2000 US one-sheet movie poster for Vin Diesel’s breakthrough movie “Pitch Black” and the first film to feature Vin’s character Richard B. Riddick which to date (there is talk of a fourth in the works) has spawned three sequels, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004) (animated), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Riddick (2013).Diesel is brilliant as Riddick, truly menacing but forced to help people who otherwise would only see him as a threat. There is also an underlying humour in his performance as well, which adds another dimension to the character. This is the sort of role that Vin excels in, the anti-hero, whos character is not as one-dimensional as first appears. The poster, designed by New Wave Creative is super stylish with a black and silver colour palette, with the example offered here presented in excellent rolled (as issued) condition. It represents an impressive item of movie memorabilia that looks fantastic and also represents the first movie for one of cinemas most recognisable and successful actors.
Trivia: The film developed from David Twohy‘s unused idea for Alien³ (1992) involving a space prison.

It’s not often I get a poster in that makes me go WOW! Well this original Czech one-sheet is such a poster. The film is a personal favourite of mine and this poster is one of the best, for Arthur P. Jacobs’ “Planet of the Apes” (Planeta Opic). It was created in 1970, the movie’s first year of release in the Czech Republic. The poster displays colourful psychedelic-inspired artwork by Vratislav Hlavaty. This artwork comes in a smaller size and a much scarcer larger format, and it is the larger format (22.75″ x 33″) which is offered here. The poster is presented conservation linen-backed with some minor sympathetic restoration. The colours are stunning, deep & unfaded. “Planet of the Apes” is considered one of the pivotal sci-fi movies ever made and this original example would provide an incredible corner-stone addition to any movie fan’s collection.
Trivia: At one of the first test screenings, a woman walked up to Charlton Heston and asked him how he was. Heston had no clue who she was until she revealed that she was Kim Hunter. He simply hadn’t recognized her as he hadn’t seen her outside of her ape make-up.

“Humanity’s last hope…rests on a high powered machine gun”
An original, first release, 2007 UK Quad for “Planet Terror”, Robert Rodriguez‘ homage to the ‘Grindhouse’ movies of the Seventies. An almost tongue in cheek original movie poster featuring totally different artwork to the US release poster which focuses on the Rose McGowan‘s ‘machine gun legged’ character – Cherry Darling. Presented in excellent unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition with a trademark Tarantino/Rodriguez antique finish. “Planet Terror” (the movie and the poster) plays homage to the ‘trashy’ films of the past in a clever and witty way that represents a an eye-catching piece of cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Michael Parks reprises his character as Sheriff Earl McGraw in Planet Terror (2007). He also played Sheriff Earl McGraw in Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), as well as Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004).

A superb and eye-catching alternative movie poster by Graham Humphreys’ for “Planet Terror”, Robert Rodriguez‘ homage to the ‘Grindhouse’ movies of the Seventies. A clever, stylish design as heroes, zombies and monsters adorn the background with a centre-piece which focuses on the iconic Rose McGowan‘s ‘machine gun legged’ character – Cherry Darling. Presented in excellent unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition with amazingly vibrant colour tones this hand-numbered Artist Proof edition from 2021 is hand-numbered #AP 2/5 and has been signed by Graham Humphrey’s that represents a an amazing piece of cinematic memorabilia.

A classic case of the poster artwork being significantly more exciting than the film it was attempting to sell to the cinema-going public, this is the UK quad for the release of Terry Marcel’s low-budget sci-fi adventure Prisoners of the Lost Universe. The poster was designed and illustrated by the late, great British artist Tom Chantrell whose dynamic and colourful work featured on hundreds of posters over a forty year period. His official website features a great biography written by Sim Branaghan, author of the must-own book British Film Posters. Chantrell illustrated many classic poster designs, including several Hammer posters such as the brilliant quad for ‘One Million Years B.C.’, and was also responsible for the iconic Star Wars quad. Very rare and hard to find this originally rolled (as issued) example from 1983 displays very well with minimal age and handling wear. It looks fantastic and presents very well and represents a fantastic piece of very collectable Tom Chantrell poster artwork and a fine piece of original film memorabilia.

Until they found their next assignment was each other”…Beautiful rolled UK Quad film poster for John Huston’s 1985 romantic gangster based black comedy “Prizzi’s Honour” starring Jack Nicholson & Kathleen Turner as the loved up mob assassins. You would be hard pushed to find a nicer example of this (if you could find one at all). Originally rolled with great artwork and deep unfaded colours this displays superbly, looking absolutely fantastic in this landscape format presented here in investment grade condition.
