  • Alien Movie Poster

    Alien: Director’s Cut

    £275.00

“In space no one can hear you scream !”

One of the cinemas all time classic movies…Ridley Scott’s Oscar winning deep space horror “Alien”. Any paper for this film is extremely sought after with the alien ‘egg’ style, designed by creative arts agency Bemis Balkind the most recognisable. On halloween 2003 “Alien” was re-released in a remastered Director’s Cut format. Sensibly the Studio went with the original 1979 poster design and updated it by printing a small number of posters on heavy stock paper with a silver background and luminous green plastic panel (on reverse) offsetting a die-cut ‘bleeding’ edge to represent the Alien blood. The UK quad poster offered here is from this 2003 release  and it displays and presents to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued). • ALIENS Alternative Movie Poster

    ALIENS

    £325.00

    “This Time It’s War”

An alternative movie poster for James Cameron’s “Aliens”, that is unquestionably one of the best (if not the best) for the title. Adam Stothard’s limited edition (hand-numbered #65/85) art print could be accused of giving away much of the film’s climax but Ripley’s ‘get away from her you bitch’  is cinematic legend. This fine art giclee print is printed on Hahnemühle photo rag metallic paper and screen printed using a gloss enamel varnish Layer (over the Queen Mother & title) is absolutely stunning, focussing on the ferocious battle between Ripley (using the Power Loader) against the Xenomorph Queen. “Aliens” has gone on to become a benchmark for the sci-fi actioner. The alternative movie poster offered here is from 2023 and presents to excellent effect in original unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition that represents a fine piece of movie memorabilia and artwork from a truly influential movie that changed the face of the modern sci-fi action movie forever.

Trivia: Sigourney Weaver‘s Best Actress Academy Award nomination for this movie was the first ever for an actress in a role in an action and sci-fi movie.

    What is Giclee ?

Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.

The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.

Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

    Almost Famous

    £75.00

“Experience it. Enjoy it. Just don’t fall for it”

Great looking and brilliantly designed film poster by creative arts agency FEREF. American Gigolo

    £45.00

    “His business is pleasure !”

After the huge success in 1982 for the Oscar winning “An Officer and a Gentleman”, Richard Gere was a global superstar and the most bankable male actor at the box office. Paramount Pictures were quick to exploit his success and re-released (even though it was only originally released in 1980) Paul Schrader’s “American Gigolo” with the knowing tagline… “In American Gigolo Richard Gere is neither an Officer nor a Gentleman” which was adapted to run alongside the familiar imagery of the original 1980 UK quad film poster. Rare in this style, it is actually a very effective design. Originally folded (as issued) this unrestored example presents and displays very well and represents a highly desirable piece of original movie memorabilia for one of the most stylish films of the 80’s.

TRIVIA…This movie represented the Hollywood breakthrough of leading clothes designer GIORGIO ARMANI who provided the stylish clothes for Richard Gere’s well dressed male escort.

“When Smokey Sings” the hit 1987 song by ABC was inspired by the scene in the movie where Richard Gere is seen meticulously choosing what clothes to wear out.

  • AMY Movie Poster

    AMY

    £275.00

    “The girl behind the name”

When released in July “AMY” went on to break UK box office records for a documentary in its opening weekend and has since gone on to become the highest grossing British documentary film of all time. An incredible feat for a film with a very limited release & showing in only a handful of cinemas. Made by the award winning team responsible for the excellent “Senna”, “AMY” tells the heartbreaking story of the late jazz/ blues singer Amy Winehouse. The original UK quad film poster to accompany the release was designed by the creative arts agency Territory Studio, who have produced an eye catching piece.  The advertising campaign was very low key and the UK film posters that accompanied the extremely limited cinema release are truly scarce. Originally rolled this incredibly rare example displays to excellent effect and represents a fantastic collectable item of music/ film / cultural memorabilia for a true music icon.

Trivia: Amy Winehouse‘s immediate family were initially willing to work with the film’s producers and director, having heard about the success of their earlier documentary, Senna (2010). They granted the filmmakers access to hours of archive footage of Amy and her family, as well as giving the filmmakers’ their blessing to interview Amy’s family and friends. However, they – in particular, Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse – soon began to feel they were being misrepresented in the documentary, that the negative aspects of Amy’s life were receiving much more attention than the positive, and that footage had been edited in order to produce an inaccurate narrative of Amy’s story, especially the last three years of her life. Mitch Winehouse has said that Amy’s fans should consider seeing the film for the rare, previously unseen, archive footage of his daughter, but should pay no attention to the film’s general portrayal of her, which he has labeled “preposterous”.

  • Apocalypse Now Movie Poster

    Apocalypse Now

    £175.00

“You don’t talk to Colonel Kurtz…You listen to him”

“Apocalypse Now” is a 2011 Restored and Remastered of Francis Ford Coppola‘s epic war film Apocalypse Now, which was originally released in 1979. Coppola, along with editor/longtime collaborator Walter Murch, personally supervised the restoration for this landmark release which features for the first time in landscape format the iconic ‘helicopters in the sunset’ artwork created by Bob Peak for the original 1979 campaign. There is no doubting that this sweeping vista widescreen style perfectly suits the UK quad format. Printed on a heavier than usual stock paper the colour saturation is superb allowing the burnt orange sunset to really pop, add to this the addition of gold title and text detailing it is a poster that doesn’t fail to impress. Totally unrestored and rolled (as issued) this presents and displays to excellent effect with only minimal handling wear. A truly beautiful piece of original movie memorabilia from one of the finest film’s ever made…“Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that”

Trivia: Francis Ford Coppola believed that Marlon Brando was familiar with Joseph Conrad‘s “Heart of Darkness”, the novel on which the movie is based. When Brando arrived on-set, Coppola was horrified to find that Brando had never read “Heart of Darkness”, did not know his lines, and had become extremely overweight. Kurtz had always been written as tall and very thin. After some panic, Coppola decided to film the 5’10” Brando as if he was a massively built, 6’5″ brute to explain his size, and kept the camera away from his huge belly.

  • Army of Darkness: Evil Dead 3 Alternative Movie Poster

Army of Darkness: Evil Dead 3

    £425.00

“Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas”

Sam Raimi’s “Army of Darkness: Evil Dead 3” is not as rooted in the horror genre as its predecessors – although it has its horrific elements, it seems to be first and foremost a dark fantasy comedy – with lots of one-liners and slapstick and gore. It’s kind of a delirious combination of horror, comedy, fantasy, action, and adventure, but it’s definitely the horror element that comes across in this 2017 alternative movie poster from Graham Humphreys. The medieval dead and undead never looked scarier and are out in full force as the hero from the previous two instalments – Ash (Bruce Campbell) cuts a worried looking figure. Originally rolled (as issued) the example offered here is truly exceptional; This limited edition it has been signed by Humphreys and hand-numbered #48/100 and displays and presents to excellent effect with amazing imagery and deep, rich colours. The horror ‘fan-boy’ love for Sam Raimi & Bruce Campbell is well deserved with related memorabilia much sought after, making this a hugely collectable piece.

Trivia: Released in Japan as “Captain Supermarket”.

  • Avengers Movie Poster

    Avengers

    £375.00

“The Avengers. That’s what we call ourselves; we’re sort of like a team. ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ type thing.”

BLT Communications LLC pulled out all the stops when they designed the marketing campaign posters for Joss Whedon’s blockbuster “Avengers”. This original 2012 country of origin one-sheet for Marvel’s all action super hero romp is certainly impressive as all the heroes are beautifully realised; Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Nick Fury stand proud and battle ready in a ravaged New York. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks stunning and displays to excellent and impressive effect. One of the best looking posters to date for any of the prolific Marvel Studios releases with spectacular super-hero imagery that represents a fine piece of collectable modern cinema movie memorabilia. If movie posters follow the trend of the comics, then ‘key’ and first appearances will become equally significant…this features the first appearances of Thanos.

Trivia: Due to this movie’s record-breaking success at the box office, it made Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson three of the top ten highest grossing actors and actress of all time at second, fifth, and tenth respectively.
