One of cinemas all time classic movies is Ridley Scott’s Oscar winning deep space horror “Alien”. Spawning numerous cinematic and TV sequels, with Fede Alvarez’ 2024 offering “Alien: Romulus” a personal favourite. The release was accompanied by an incredible series of high quality posters, but it was this offering here by Matt Ferguson that really stole the show, with artwork that is considered one of the best looking for the whole franchise. Printed in extremely limited numbers for use in cinemas of Ferguson’s choice, these UK quads have become hugely collectable and a must have poster for xenomorph fans. Offered rolled (as issued) and signed by Matt Ferguson this example presents and displays to excellent effect that represents a fantastic piece of cinematic movie memorabilia that is incredibly scarce.
Trivia: The film’s production design draws not only on the previous films in the series, but also the Alien: Isolation (2014) video game, including the “Emergency” communication stations which served as save points in the game. Fede Alvarez played the game around the time Don’t Breathe (2016) was released, and later said, “I was playing, and realising how terrifying Alien could be if you take it back to that tone.”

“Alien: Romulus” plot is clear and easy to follow, with a coherent narrative that allows the audience to quickly understand each character’s motivations and predict their actions. Furthermore, in this film the characters decisions make sense, and their desires are well communicated, making the plot more engaging.
The movie is set in a dystopian world that depicts late-stage capitalism of the no surprise evil Weyland Yutani Corporation, with a dark and gritty tone that reminded me a little bit of “Blade Runner”.
While the movie has its flaws, particularly with most of the cast being somewhat forgettable, the dynamic between Andy (David Jonsson) and Rain (Cailee Spaeny) truly stands out and carries the movie. One can really root for the said duo unlike (in contrast) to the rest of the cast. However despite this flaw the overall performance (acting wise) of the entire cast was still commendable.
An additional point is that the movie starts slowly, but the wait ultimately bears its fruits leading to an intense action packed second act full of horror and gore. Some tense moments were also thrown in making you stay at edge of your seat.
The final act takes a mysterious and deeply unsettling turn, introducing elements that are both creepy and disturbing. Overall, the film is a solid entry in the franchise, offering a more thoughtful narrative without sacrificing the thrills.
