Movie posters don’t really get anymore entertaining or colourful than this; complete set of ALL three ‘only in cinemas’ one-sheet design posters for Patty Jenkins’ DC Extended Universe super heroine sequel “Wonder Woman 1984”. Designed by the WORKS ADV and BOND the three different designs are all equally impressive. The Covid 19 pandemic has wreaked havoc with cinema releases, with this set being all first printings carrying the ‘only in cinemas’ tagline and issued before the December 25th HBO Max screening announcement that the movie would premiere on a TV streaming service simultaneous to a theatrical release. Originally rolled (as issued) they look stunning and displays to superb effect, perfectly suited to this portrait format. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) takes centre stage in each and is featured in her ‘regular’ costume and her Gold Armour costume first introduced in the comic book series “Kingdom Come” by Alex Ross offset against a vibrant WW84 background of dayglo neon static colours. Very cool and very collectable this set of three cinema posters represent a fantastic item of ‘modern’ super-hero movie memorabilia.

Price quoted is for ALL three posters in the set.

Trivia: Patty Jenkins picked the 80s as the film’s setting because she saw it as “the height of Western civilization and society, and so it offers the opportunity to explore how Wonder Woman would deal with the types of villains that come from that era.”

Film Description

 Wonder Woman 1984 Movie Poster

Price quoted is for ALL three posters in the set.

” Welcome to the future. Life is good! But it can be better. And why shouldn’t it be? All you need is to want it. Think about finally having everything you always wanted.”

Wonder Woman 1984 (also marketed as WW84: Wonder Woman) is an American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. It is the sequel to 2017’s hugely successful  Wonder Woman and the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she wrote with Geoff Johns and David Callaham, and a story by Johns and Jenkins, and stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, alongside Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen in supporting roles. It will be the fourth live-action theatrical film featuring the title character, following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Wonder Woman, and Justice League(both 2017); it will also be the second full-length feature film centered around the character. The film follows Diana as she faces Maxwell Lord and Cheetah in 1984.

Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins return for the sequel to Wonder Woman. It was one of the thousands of films that were advanced because of the Pandemic, but fortunately it was released in 2020, even with controversy, as it will be simultaneous with streaming, something new for the industry.

Gal Gadot manages to act and stand out here than in the first film. The two villains are well developed, the story of the two holds you back. Wonder Woman 1984 is better than the first film. Well, here it is lighter, upward, high spirits, even with the problems that the humanity of the film faces, and we also in real life, the film brings a speech of optimism and hope. Inspiring us to be better as humanity!

It has the ’80s vibe, but with the look, technologies and ambitions of the time. But, I missed the songs of the time, which was the best time to have a soundtrack. In the trailers, they put “New Order – Blue Monday” and it was one of the things that took me to see the movie.

It also has fan service and references according to the mythology of the heroine in the comics.

Most Popular Poster Types

US Posters

LOBBY CARD
11 x 14″ printed on heavy stock paper. Used as display in theatre lobbies. Originally made in sets of eight. Some sets have a title card, which contains credits and artwork, essentially a mini-poster. The remaining seven cards are coloured photographic credits and poster artwork showing different scenes from the movie.

WINDOW CARD
14 x 22″ printed on heavy stock paper with the top 4-6 inches usually left blank for the local cinema owner to fill in the cinema and the date it was due to play. Largely discontinued during the 1970’s.

HALF SHEET
22 x 28″ printed on heavy stock paper. The image displayed is normally a smaller version of the main poster, although some do have different artworks and sometimes come in two versions.

INSERT
14 x 36″ printed on heavy stock paper. Inserts usually have the same artwork as a one sheet. Popular with collectors since they are smaller and easier to frame. Normally come tri folded or rolled.

STYLE Y/FORTY BY SIXTY
40 x 60″ printed on heavy stock paper. Rare since they were primarily used for major motion pictures only. Designed to be used outside the theatre, on an easel, normally at a drive-in movie theatre.

ONE-SHEET
27 x 41″ printed on paper. This is the most common size of poster, intended to be displayed in a glass “marquee” case. It is the most sought after size by collectors. Since the 1980’s most posters are sent to the theatre rolled and maybe slightly smaller measuring 27″ by 40″ and with the advent of backlit light boxes a growing number of modern movie posters are available double-sided and the more traditional single-sided.

THREE-SHEET
41 x 81″ printed on paper. These were printed on two or three separate sheets designed to overlap, few survive. Used for larger advertising spaces, normally posted on walls, perfect for huge movie theatres the drive-in, where people could see them from a distance. From the 1970’s on, three-sheets were sometimes printed in one piece and issued as “international” versions to be used abroad.
