“Luke’s just not a farmer… He has too much of his father in him.”
A global phenomenon when originally released in 1977 producing (at the time) a multitude of related merchandise including some exceptional commercial posters. Factors Inc of California, USA were responsible for some of the best and examples have gone on to become very collectable in their own right. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is featured on this promotional Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope movie poster and was always going to be the pin up hero of the franchise and has gone on to become a major symbol for the franchise and a pivotal figure in the massive marketing and merchandising campaign that was to follow. Presented here on this original vintage 1977 fully studio authorised “Star Wars” poster…in original unrestored condition this an excellent rolled (as issued) example for a very early release Star Wars poster. Incredibly RARE and desirable Star Wars memorabilia.
As reported in the The Star Wars Poster Book by Sansweet & Vilmur two versions of this poster exist. One with the tagline “Jedi Knight” & one without. As the Studio didn’t want the audience to know Luke was indeed a “Jedi Knight” these first run posters were quickly withdrawn. Offered here is one of the very rare first initial print run “Jedi Knight” versions.
