“There is no justice without sin.”
The MPAA (Movie Poster Association of America) thought long and hard before finally approving this poster design for “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” and eventually allowed it to be used once Eva Green’s silk gown was edited and made more opaque. It was previously believed to be nearly see-through, revealing a lot more of Eva (her nipples) than thought fit and proper. Designed by Rodriguez’ own Troublemaker Studios with photography by Rico Torres the implied sexual imagery imagery of Eva Green as ‘Ava’ is one of the most talked about posters of recent years and following the events surrounding its printing incredibly rare with a print run a fraction of the other character posters. This original country of origin “I’ve been especially bad” is from first year of release, 2014. Sexy, exotic, dark and moody this originally rolled (as issued) example is in exceptional unrestored original condition with artwork particularly well suited to the portrait format of the one sheet. It displays superbly and Eva looks stunning; a real talking piece that represents a truly fine piece of original ‘modern’ collectable movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The MPAA banned one of the movie’s character posters. The poster showed Eva Green as Ava Lord wearing a sheer gown through which her nipple was visible. Green told “Vanity Fair” about the controversy: “I’m not actually naked on the poster. I find it a bit odd. It seems like it’s all just publicity, a lot of noise for nothing. You have so many more violent things in the movie business, and this is kind of soft. I’m not naked. It’s suggested. I find it really sexy, actually. It’s kind of beautiful. But if it shocks people, I don’t know what to do about it. I don’t want to upset anybody. I don’t want to be seen as just the femme fatale or put into some silly box. I hope that people will have enough imagination.”…more detail
