Trivia: The stargate is a system designed to open a wormhole. A wormhole is a hypothetical way of space travel called an “Einstein-Rosen bridge”, named after scientists Nathan Rosen and Albert Einstein. According to them, the wormhole should be capable to unite two distant points in the universe, altering space-time laws to cross from a point to another in a brief period of time. The name “wormhole” compares the universe to an apple, with a worm boring through it to reach a point on the other side instead of crawling the long way around on the outside.

  • Starship Troopers Movie Poster

    Starship Troopers

    £125.00

“The only good bug is a dead bug…Forget the insecticide, bring on the nukes !”

Fantastic sci-fi imagery for this eye-catching movie poster for a war movie with a difference…it’s set in the future and we’re fighting giant bugs. Paul Verhoeven’s chest thumping actioner “Starship Troopers” is a true ‘marmite’ film; you either love the no holds barred over the top spectacularly gory action or you hate the simple plot and stiff as a board acting. With an eye-catching design that teases the giant bugs, as you see just their deadly claws in the foreground with a colonial marine running headlong to do battle with it – all against the backdrop of an alien planet. From original year of UK release 1997 this excellent rolled (as issued) one-sheet presents and displays near perfectly and represents a fantastic piece of original collectable movie memorabilia from what is undoubtably a great sci-fi action movie (one of the first to utilise and effectively use CGI technology) which is fondly remembered and spawned a popular TV show & three big screen sequels.

Trivia: Most of the arachnids appearing on film are CGI but a few life-sized, robotic models were built. However, during the battle scenes, the actors mostly wound up looking at director Paul Verhoeven himself who would stand in front of them and jump and scream, even chasing them with a broom in an attempt to generate some of the fearsomeness of a 12-foot space ant. Clancy Brown, who played Sgt. Zim, affectionately described the director as “a nutbag”, given to “jumping up and down with a bullhorn going, ‘I’m a big fucking bug! I’ll kill you!’ I loved him; he was so much fun.”

    Streets of Fire

    £125.00

“Tonight is what it means to be young…”

After making his buddy cop hit “48 Hours” Walter Hill directed a film that was inspired by the movies he grew up on. It was a wild homage filled with the kinds of images and themes he loved most about those movies such as: “custom cars, kissing in the rain, neon, trains in the night, high-speed pursuit, rumbles, rock stars, motorcycles, jokes in tough situations, leather jackets and questions of honor.” What Hill created was “Streets of Fire” (1984) a 1980’s meets retro 1950’s musical-action-crime-comedy B-movie epic. The film stars Michael Pare as Tom Cody an ex-soldier who returns to his home to rescue his ex-girlfriend, a singer named Ellen Aim (Diane Lane) from the clutches of evil biker gang leader Raven Shaddock (Willem Dafoe). The music (heavily influenced by Meatloaf’s guru Jim Steinman) featured in the film also reflected the odd 1950’s meets the 1980’s backdrop with its diverse rockabilly, doo-wop, blues and New Wave sounds…Even though “Streets of Fire” didn’t do well when it was released, over the years it has developed a cult following because of its unique qualities. The colourful eye catching poster art by Riehm for the film reflects the furiously stylised aesthetic that was used to tell the rock n’ roll  fable of love ! Originally rolled (as issued) this beautiful unrestored 1984 US one sheet film poster presents superbly and represents a fine piece of original very collectable movie / music memorabilia…“A Rock ‘n’ Roll Fable !”

Trivia: The car that Cody (Michael Pare) drives in the movie is a 1951 Mercury that was chopped, channelled, nosed, and decked.

    Terminator 2: Judgement Day

    £395.00

“He Said He’d Be Back…and He Certainly is !”

Sci-fi movies can rarely be made in such way that can be looked at as works of art. This is one of the few exceptions. The prediction of judgment day with Hamilton watching a playground full of kids be burnt to the ground is an absolute brilliant portrayal of Armageddon. The theme that men will destroy themselves is also shown throughout the movie also and is even said by The Terminator…“It’s in your nature to destroy yourselves”. This brings the movie to a whole new level of sci-fi and one of the most sought after of titles by collectors of the genre and Schwarzenegger’s vast legion of fans. Offered here is a scarce large format Japanese B1 movie poster (equivalent to a standard one-sheet) for James Cameron’s sci-fi, time travel, shoot ’em up uber-actioner “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”. This example is often referred to as the ‘Smoke’ version featuring Schwarzenegger’s Terminator emerging from the smoke. The Company of Wolves

    £75.00

“The desire…the fantasy…the nightmare…Where fairy stories meet horror stories”

An extraordinary and surreal masterpiece from Neil Jordan, “The Company of Wolves” is an allegory that examines the journey from innocence to adulthood in an adult re-telling of the much loved fairytale “Little Red Riding Hood”. Certainly a strange story; the mix of sexual symbolism, poetic beauty and gory horror moments seems a bit forced at times – but when it does work it’s utterly fascinating and you can see it has become such a cult film of the genre and well respected by fans of both horror and quality film making.
