John Carpenter’s tale of alien occupation is part horror, part Sci-Fi and part social satire, all viewed through dark sun-glasses of Nada played by ex-pro WWF wrestler Roddy Piper . This original 1988 US one sheet “They Live” movie poster is a great looking example of John Carpenter paper from the 80’s and genuinely rare in this country of origin format. The striking design features a very close, close-up of ‘Nada’ with the Alien infiltrators reflected in his trademark sunglasses. Originally folded (as issued) it presents in very good original unrestored condition with only the minimal of fold line wear and strong bright colours. A cool, cult poster that represents very collectable & desirable original film memorabilia from one of the greatest and most influential director’s who is still actively working in the sci-fi / horror / action genre.
Trivia: Artist Shepard Fairey credits the film as a major source of inspiration, sharing a similar logo to his “OBEY” campaign. “They Live was…the basis for my use of the word ‘obey’,” Fairey said. “The movie has a very strong message about the power of commercialism and the way that people are manipulated by advertising.”

John Carpenter’s tale of alien occupation “They Live” is part horror, part sci-fi and part social satire, all viewed through dark sun-glasses of Nada played by ex-professional wrestler Roddy Piper. Considered one of Carpenter’s best it was one of four seminal movies by the director re-released by Studio Canal in 2018, remastered in 4K, with the others being “Escape From New York”, “Prince of Darkness” and “The Fog”. All four movies had a strictly limited cinematic release and were accompanied a newly designed poster campaign (quads and one-sheets) by leading artist Matt Ferguson. Ferguson’s unique artistic style is evident throughout the four, each with its very own unique colour palette. A number of these full-size 30″ x 40″ UK quad styles were also released as a limited edition art print by Vice Press. Identical to the cinematic quad, in fact exactly the same – same paper, printer etc these were issued as timed releases each signed and hand-numbered by Matt Ferguson. Offered here is one of these signed art prints numbered #48 from a print run of only 216. Originally rolled (as issued) it presents in excellent condition. Thor is one of the key, corner stone characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and takes centre stage on this stunning multi-coloured UK quad film poster surrounded by the more than able supporting cast; Hulk, Loki and villainess Hela. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks stunning and displays to excellent and memorable effect with incredible colour tones (have I mentioned the colours before ?) One of the best looking posters to date for any of the Marvel Studios’ releases with fantastic super hero artwork that represents a fine piece of collectible modern cinema movie memorabilia. Fantastic to display as is, but if you own a lightbox this is a poster you want to put in it – super stunning when backlit.
Trivia: Thor’s “friend from work” line about The Incredible Hulk was suggested to Chris Hemsworth by a Make-A-Wish child who paid a visit to the set on the day the scene was filmed.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Damme and Dolph Lungren battle it out in a series of spectacularly choreographed action set-pieces. Originally rolled (as issued) this eye-catching one-sheet film poster presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a truly desirable piece of sci-fi, action cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The idea of the eyepieces that the Universal Soldiers wear in the movie was borrowed from Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). In that series, The Borg, humans and other alien species that have been assimilated into cyborg creatures wear eyepieces. In the film, the Universal Soldiers are deceased soldiers who have been reanimated and brought back as cyborg commandos.

An exceptionally rare Indian Three-Sheet from 1969 (the first year of release in India) for Brian G. Hutton’s action packed World War II thriller “Where Eagles Dare” features artwork by C. Mohan based on the original design by Frank McCarthy. The cable car scene is one of the best remembered and most famous scenes from the film and all of the elements are the same, from Eastwood on the cable car to the Castle of The Eagle engulfed in flames in the background. Fans of Bollywood will know at least one of C. Mohan’s pieces as he designed the title for “Sholay”, which is widely considered the greatest Bollywood movie of all time. One of the most collected British action adventure war films ever produced, with the originally folded (as issued) example offered here being presented conservation linen-backed – it displays to excellent with colours that pop, thanks to the stone litho printing process. Of all the action / adventure films I deal with there is no doubt that “Where Eagles Dare” appears to have an incredible fan base and this superb poster represents a fine piece of original movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The driving force behind this movie was Richard Burton‘s stepson, who wanted to see his stepfather in a good old-fashioned adventure movie. Burton approached producer Elliott Kastner for ideas, who asked Alistair MacLean. At that time, most of MacLean’s novels had either been made into movies, or were in the process of being filmed. Kastner persuaded MacLean to write a new story. Six weeks later, MacLean delivered the script.

A stunning country of origin, UK quad film poster for Brian G. Hutton’s action packed World War II thriller “Where Eagles Dare”. This original UK quad from first year of release (1968 with correct ‘square’ Lonsdale & Bartholomew printer’s logo) features great action adventure artwork and lovely deep rich unfaded colours. This really is a fantastic looking film poster and was printed with the ‘full bleed’ artwork style; no snipes or blank white area at the top where sometimes a cinema and showing times were printed.
