The Boy Friend

“A Glittering Super Colossal Heart Warming Toe-Tapping Continously Delightful Musical Extravaganza.”

A beautiful looking and stylishly designed film poster for Ken Russell’s 1971 musical extravaganza “The Boy Friend”. Russell’s award winning film was complemented by two stunning poster designs for the British release, both equally impressive and unique to the UK. Offered here is an original 1971 Style A UK quad affectionately known as the “blue style” with artwork by Philip Castle finished in an art deco style. With a ‘Busby Berkley’ Broadway musical theme, Twiggy (in her first starring role) takes centre stage as imaged by Castle. Originally folded (as issued) this looks and displays very well with minimal age and handling wear; the blue and gold colour tones are superb and unfaded and literally ‘pop’ from the paper. Guaranteed original this represents an extremely scarce and desirable item of original collectable movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Though much more lighthearted than most of his films, according to Ken Russell, this was the most difficult film he ever made.
