  • Batman Alternative Movie Poster

    Batman

    £195.00

Bruce Wayne – Y’see, my life is really… complex.”

Tim Burton was the perfect choice at the time to re-invent this major screen character & for me this is the definitive Batman movie. Posters for Burton’s “Batman” have always been hugely collectable since it was released in 1989 with the original marketing campaign basically just using the Batman logo. This has left a huge scope for artists since, to re-imagine and re-interpret their own unique take on the movie and character – making it perfect content for the alternative movie poster market. Batman (in all of his guises) is one of the most popular subjects for commissions – admittedly some better than others. Offered here is one of the better examples as Alberto Reyes presents his Batman, fully costumed (it’s nice to see an artist present a screen accurate costume for a change) in the Batcave. Enigmatic and stylish, hand-numbered (#69/89) and signed by the artist, Alberto Reyes is truly impressive. Originally rolled (as issued) this displays to excellent effect and represents a memorable image from one of the defining Batman films.

Trivia: Michael Keaton, who calls himself a “logic freak”, was concerned that Batman’s secret identity would, in reality, be fairly easy to uncover, and discussed ideas with Tim Burton to better disguise the character, including the use of contact lenses. Ultimately, Keaton decided to perform Batman’s voice at a lower register than when he was portraying Bruce Wayne. This technique became a staple of future portrayals of Batman in film, television, and video games, especially those of Kevin Conroy and Christian Bale.

  • Beverly HIlls Cop Movie Poster

    Beverly Hills Cop

    £150.00

“He’s been chased, thrown through a window, and arrested. Eddie Murphy is a Detroit cop on vacation in Beverly Hills”

Original country of origin 1984 US One-Sheet Movie Poster for the Eddie Murphy blockbuster “Beverly Hills Cop”. Great imagery of Murphy lounging on a bright red Mercedes SL convertible (the top car of the early 80’s) parked on Rodeo Drive. Originally rolled (as issued) this fine example looks and displays to excellent effect with minimal handling wear with artwork perfectly suited to the portrait style format. Without a doubt this film sums up the 80’s perfectly with a ‘feel-good’ vibe that makes for a very collectable piece movie memorabilia that looks very very cool !

Trivia: During his tirade at the Beverly Palms Hotel, Axel pretends to be writing an article called “Michael Jackson: Sitting on Top of the World” for “Rolling Stone” magazine. In real life, “Playboy” ran an article called “Eddie Murphy: Sitting on Top of the World.”

  • Big Wednesday Movie Poster

    Big Wednesday

    £895.00

“Could the big breaker break them up ?…Three friends. Twelve Turbulent Years. And One Day We All Must Face.”

The only time the Californian surf culture was portrayed accurately in a Hollywood studio film. Surfing aficionados consider this John Milius written & directed movie to be one of the best surfing-related films made, in part because of the legendary surfing cinematography sequences by Greg MacGillivray and the appearance of several professional world champion surfers. Any paper from this cult movie is rare with the British UK quad being perhaps the rarest and certainly (IMHO) the best looking featuring ‘surfing the big wave’ artwork that perfectly suits the landscape format. Surfing and the surf culture surrounding it unlike in the USA was relatively unknown in 70’s Britain with a very small dedicated fanbase & following, hence the very limited cinema screenings for “Big Wednesday” resulting in these quad posters rarely being offered for sale & certainly not in this excellent condition. Originally folded, the foldlines are now virtually un-noticeable thanks to the high standard of linen backing. From first year of release, 1978 this original UK quad film poster is presented in first class condition with incredible unfaded colours and amazing surfing artwork. A beautiful example of original film movie memorabilia that represents a fantastic opportunity to purchase one of the ‘cult’ sporting posters from the 70’s.

Trivia: Gary Busey would later star alongside Keanu Reeves, in another surfing movie, Point Break (1991), but his character never surfed.

  • Blow Up Movie Poster

    Blow Up

    £195.00

“Sometimes, reality is the strangest fantasy of all.”

Perhaps one of the most influential and talked about ‘art’ films of ‘Swinging 60’s London’Michelangelo Antonioni’s controversial first English language film “Blow Up”Extremely rare, complete set of all eight (8) front of house, country of origin British lobby cards from first year of release 1966. Two cards are standalone character pieces and feature Thomas (David Hemmings) and Jane (Vanessa Redgrave) with the remaining six cards exuding a real feeling of sexual tension. Presented here in original flat, unfolded (as issued to cinemas) condition this scarce set displays very well with bright vibrant colours. Paper for this title doesn’t come to market very often with these front of house lobby cards a superb example of 1960’s nostalgia and British cinema memorabilia.

Trivia: The film contains a rare performance of The Yardbirds during the period when Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck were both in the band. Jeff Beck would leave a few months later.

  • Darkman Movie Poster

    Darkman

    £125.00

“They destroyed everything he had, everything he was. Now, crime has a new enemy and justice has a new face.”

An original 1990 US one-sheet movie poster for Sam Raimi’s comic book inspired ant-hero “Darkman”. Raimi’s cult classic creation is one of those movies that has aged better with time than on its first release with a loyal and devoted fanbase. Lead actor, Liam Neeson (in his first starring role) plays the titular hero with real style and features prominently (albeit swathed in bandages) on the John Alvin designed US one-sheet offered here as he’s seen almost as a silhouette set against an explosive city backdrop. Totally unrestored, this rolled (as issued) example displays & presents to very good effect. A great looking piece of horror, comic book style artwork that represents a scarce piece of cinematic movie memorabilia.
