This original 1977 UK Quad film poster for Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” looks absolutely stunning as presented here. Originally folded (as issued) this rare unrestored example displays very well with deep rich colour. Without the white border (used on the US One Sheet) this full bleed design really does give it a stunning immersive look that draws you in to the image, giving an almost 3D effect.   A personal favourite; film and poster, fully deserving of the reverence it is held in. With artwork by Howard Terpning, this original 1962 French ‘Moyen‘ Affiche film poster for “Lawrence of Arabia” (Lawrence d’Arabie) is a truly stunning piece featuring deep, rich colours and beautiful painted artwork of a sabre wielding O’Toole (astride a camel) leading his Arab army into battle.  Eye-catching and memorable as O’Toole’s presence dominates (rightly so) the poster. A real find in such high grade condition, benefitting from being conservation linen backed with only light restoration to the original foldlines. A magnificent example that displays and presents to excellent effect and represents a scarce & highly collectable item of authentic movie memorabilia that is without argument one of the greatest movies ever made.

  Trivia: The scene where T.E. Lawrence is given his first Arab clothes wasn’t working as written, so Sir David Lean took Peter O’Toole aside and said, “There’s something missing, Peter. What do you think a young man would do alone in the desert if he’d just been given these beautiful robes?” He pointed out to the desert and O’Toole’s eyes followed. “There’s your theatre, Peter. Do what you like.” So, O’Toole improvised Lawrence looking at his reflection in his knife.

  Pitch Black

  An original 2000 US one-sheet movie poster for Vin Diesel’s breakthrough movie “Pitch Black” and the first film to feature Vin’s character Richard B. Riddick which to date (there is talk of a fourth in the works) has spawned three sequels, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004) (animated), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), and Riddick (2013).Diesel is brilliant as Riddick, truly menacing but forced to help people who otherwise would only see him as a threat. There is also an underlying humour in his performance as well, which adds another dimension to the character. This is the sort of role that Vin excels in, the anti-hero, whos character is not as one-dimensional as first appears. The poster, designed by New Wave Creative is super stylish with a black and silver colour palette, with the example offered here presented in excellent rolled (as issued) condition. It represents an impressive item of movie memorabilia that looks fantastic and also represents the first movie for one of cinemas most recognisable and successful actors.

  Trivia: The film developed from David Twohy‘s unused idea for Alien³ (1992) involving a space prison.

  TREMORS

  One of the stand out films of the early 90’s & certainly one of the best and most eye-catching marketing campaigns. “TREMORS” is the kind of movie that can’t be placed in a certain genre. It’s a little bit of everything; horror, comedy, action, adventure and a fine homage to 50’s B-Movie sci-fi/horror flicks. This British video poster for Ron Underwood’s “TREMORS” is genuinely scarce and a hard poster to track down. Much like “The Shawshank Redemption” it is one of those film’s that hugely benefitted from the ‘home’ video market going on to achieve huge popularity and cult status, resulting in (to date) four sequels and a TV series. Offered here is an incredibly rare rolled (as issued) British video poster from first year of release, 1990. Original and unrestored it presents to excellent effect with deep bright colour tones and incredible (with a tip of the hat to “Jaws”) ‘creature’ artwork… A modern genre classic that represents a superb piece of original and highly collectable movie memorabilia.

  Trivia: Prior to the film’s release, Kevin Bacon felt that the film was a career low: “I broke down and fell to the sidewalk, screaming to my pregnant wife, ‘I can’t believe I’m doing a movie about underground worms!'”
