  • Blade Runner Movie Poster

    Blade Runner

    £575.00

“Man Has Made His Match… Now It’s His Problem !”

Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’, Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” iconic dystopian classic is unquestionably one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. Re-issued several times in various formats & ‘cuts’ this is a rare original first release 1982 UK Quad country of origin movie poster for Scott’s hugely influential science fiction blockbuster. Although critically acclaimed on initial release, commercially the film never really proved popular with the cinema going public resulting in any paper from the first 1982 release extremely scarce, making this Jouineau Bourduge film poster a very nice find indeed. Totally original & unrestored the 1982 UK quad film poster offered here is in excellent, original folded (as issued) condition. It displays and presents superbly with just very minor handling wear and represents a fine piece of cinematic memorabilia for one of the most influential film’s not just of the sci-fi genre but modern culture in general.

Trivia: This movie suffered at the box office because it opened at the same time as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). The Thing (1982) suffered a similar fate due to the same reason. Although there was praise for the visual style, word of mouth about this movie’s slow pace and bleak themes quickly caused a decrease in attendance ratings. Both movies later reached cult status and received critical praise.

  • Blade Runner 2049 Movie Poster

    Blade Runner 2049

    £180.00

Many older model replicants – Nexus 8s with open-ended lifespans – survived. They are hunted down and ‘retired’…Those that hunt them still go by the name… Blade Runner.”

Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’, Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” iconic dystopian classic is unquestionably one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. So, it was no surprise a sequel was made, what was surprising was the follow-up never happened until 2017, thirty-five years after the original was released. Still, it’s fair to say the wait was worth it – “Blade Runner 2049” sees Harrison Ford reprise his role as Rick Deckard and a new Blade Runner is introduced, ‘K’ played by Ryan Gosling. It’s a visually beautiful movie with some imaginative action scenes perfectly orchestrated by director, Denis Villeneuve. The visual impact is certainly evident in the poster campaign that accompanied the release. Advertising agency WORKS ADV have produced an impressive series of posters including these two amazing Advance UK quads, designed to complement each other with the bright orange tones for Ford and whites for Gosling . These rolled (as issued) examples display and present to excellent effect with minimal handling wear and represent an impressive pair of cinematic movie memorabilia for one of the most influential film series not just of the sci-fi genre but modern culture in general.

Trivia: The first letter of the names of each of the wooden animals that Rick Deckard carved in this movie: Rhino, Antelope, Cat, Horse, Elephant, Lion, spell “RACHEL”.

“A ravishing PSYCHO-FIEND with the diabolical power to turn into a GIANT DEATHSHEAD VAMPIRE feasts on the BLOOD of her Lovers before clawing them to death!”

Blood Beast Terror (1968) was a Tony Tensor, Tigon Films release – a British studio providing real competition t0 Hammer, for so long the leading horror film producer in the UK. The British poster campaign was represented by a stunningly colourful UK quad, a mixture of illustration and photo montage, with some truly gruesome imagery. Presented unrestored and in excellent original folded (as issued) condition. A personal favourite of mine and a scarce example of British horror cinematic memorabilia.

Trivia: The stage play shown in the film echoes the story of notorious grave-robbers Burke and Hare. They would be the subject of Vernon Sewell‘s next film the following year.

One of the best Richard Gere images you will see is Eric Pulford’s country unique (British) artwork for the 1983 UK quad movie poster for “Breathless”. To be fair both Gere and co-star Valerie Kaprisky (her first and only US starring role) look pretty good. “Okay fellas, this is our moment. Keep a cool head and keep those fingers pumpin’, cause remember, it’s history you’ll be writin”

A great looking movie poster for the Park Circus (BFI) 30th Anniversary 2006 release of Alan Parker’s 1976 film “Bugsy Malone”. The classic all-singing and dancing gangster movie with an all child cast that is the first and only gangster movie to involve cream filled bullets fired by the legendary “splurge” gun…The artwork from the original 1976 UK quad has been cleverly re-imagined highlighting the two stars; Jodie Foster & Scott Baio whilst retaining a 1930’s theme. Originally rolled (as issued) this excellent unrestored example displays and presents to superb effect and represents a scarce item of collectible memorabilia from one of British cinema’s quirkiest films.

  • Captain America: The First Avenger Alternative Movie Poster

    Captain America: The First Avenger

    £175.00

“Whatever happens tomorrow you must promise me one thing. That you will stay who you are. Not a perfect soldier, but a good man.”

Rich Davies’ alternative movie poster for one of the corner stone characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe “Captain America: The First Avenger” is an incredible, retro looking piece with an amazing 1940s vibe heavily influenced by the Flash Gordon/Buster Crabbe pulp serials of the period, from the dynamic content to the striking typography. Printed on to textured art paper using giclee inks the colours pop from the paper that when combined with the faux foldlines have a dramatic effect. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks stunning and displays to excellent effect. One of the best looking posters for any of the Marvel Studios’ releases it represents a fine piece of collectable modern cinema movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Originally cameo appearances were planned in the film for James “Logan” Howlett (Wolverine) and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto), who were present during World War II (Logan was a soldier and Lehnsherr was in an internment camp). These cameos were scrapped due to rights issues.

    What is Giclee ?

Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.

The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.

Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

  • Con Air Movie Poster

    Con Air

    £125.00

“They somehow managed to get every creep and freak in the universe onto this one plane. And then somehow managed to let them take it over. And then somehow managed to stick us right smack in the middle.”

An all-action bombastic thriller as only the 1990s can deliver as Nicolas Cage heads up the Jerry Bruckheimer blockbuster “Con Air”. This, Face/Off (1997) and The Rock (1996) are considered by many Nicolas Cage fans to be his “holy trinity” of action films. Cameron Poe (Cage), has just been paroled for manslaughter, but must stop a group of violent and deadly criminals from escaping the country after they seize control of the prison transport plane he is on – get the popcorn ready and just enjoy. Cage is aided by FBI agent Vince Larkin (John Cusack) as they tackle the nemesis that is the delightfully named ‘Cyrus the Virus’ (played with real dark comedic menace by John Malkovich) and it is these three that feature on this original 1997 British quad. I personally think the character imagery is much better suited to this landscape format rather than the portrait style of a one-sheet. Offered in rolled (as issued) condition, this fine example presents to excellent effect with minimal of handling wear and represents a cool and eye-catching piece of cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Jerry Bruckheimer and the other producers of this movie wanted to cast Nicolas Cage as Cameron Poe, from early on, and his dream became a reality because they were working on another movie together, The Rock (1996). During filming of the 1996 Michael Bay movie, Bruckheimer walked over to Cage’s trailer and handed him the “Con Air” script. Two days later, Cage called him and said the script was great and that he wanted to make the movie.
