Bluntly, Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” is the greatest science-fiction film made to date with memorabilia avidly sought and collected, particularly ‘country of origin’ examples…Offered here is an original British 1968 flat and unfolded (as issued) British front of house lobby card. This Cinerama lobby card features outstanding Robert McCall sci-fi artwork of the ‘Space-Wheel’ one of the most memorable scenes in the movie (accompanied by the classical music score from the ‘Blue Danube’) and used as a significant image for the worldwide marketing campaign. Totally original and unrestored and presented in excellent condition it represents an impressive item of cinematic memorabilia for one of the most original films ever made, by one of the greatest ever film-makers.
Trivia: Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” was the last movie made about men on the moon before Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked there in real life in 1969. More than 50 years later there are still conspiracy theorists who insist that this is not a coincidence, claiming that all footage of Armstrong’s voyage was a hoax film directed by Stanley Kubrick using leftover scenes and props from this movie.

After the acclaim artist Graham Humphreys’ earned after his outstanding work on the British marketing campaign for Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” it came as no surprise that he was commissioned once again for the sequel “A Nightmare on Elm Street: Part 2 – Freddy’s Revenge”. With the success of the character Freddy is no longer a horror character to keep hidden on the advertising material and Humphreys certainly doesn’t hold back as Krueger’s fire scarred visage takes up nearly all of the poster with his (now familiar) battered fedora and razor bladed glove included in the imagery. Setting a high bench mark for modern horror artwork Humphreys’ imagery was only used for the UK quad design and is one of the most sought after film posters of the 80’s and the horror genre. Graham Humpreys has been dubbed England’s greatest living horror artist and it’s not hard to see why when you see this beautiful film poster from first year of release 1985. Totally original and unrestored, this rolled (as issued) example is presented in excellent condition with, unusually for a horror poster some incredibly bright colours. Extremely scarce and a must have for the serious collector it represents a fantastic item of horror movie memorabilia. The best I have ever offered for sale or seen – it really is exceptional and perfect for investment or to just enjoy.

This was in response to the use of The Evil Dead (1981) on a television screen in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), and part of a continued banter between directors Wes Craven and Sam Raimi. However, when Wes Craven loaned the glove to the A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) set, it was lost but eventually found by a Freddy fan, Mike Becker, at an auction in 2009.

Exploitation of the James Bond phenomenon took many forms. Commercial tie-ins became popular, and films were often re-packaged as double bills for subsequent re-releases. Here, however, we have a British cinema UK quad promoting a “A Season of James Bond 007” films. Believed to date from 1972, participating cinemas would have used this poster to advertise special screenings of earlier Sean Connery Bond films, choosing from “Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice” and “Diamonds Are Forever”. A simple yet striking design, the “trademark” gun barrell opening credits imagery was considered so recognisable, that it would be sufficient to draw paying audiences. These don’t turn up that often especially in this excellent unrestored, originally folded (as issued) condition; the black background is rich and unfaded. It presents and displays superbly and represents a fine example of a scarce and extremely collectable James Bond vintage movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Maurice Binder designed the gun barrel opening at the last minute, by pointing a pinhole camera through a real gun barrel. The actor in the sequence is not Sir Sean Connery, but stuntman Bob Simmons. Connery didn’t film the sequence until Thunderball (1965).

Trivia: The shot of Kaneda’s bike sliding to a stop away from the camera in the opening bike chase sequence is considered to be the most referenced shot in animation. Homages appear in such shows as Teen Titans, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars, Samurai Jack, Batman: The Animated Series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Adventure Time, The Simpsons, and even Pokémon.
