WarGames
£75.00
“Is it a game…or is it real ?”
“Shall we play ?” This catch phrase was everywhere in 1983 and the game in question was “Global Thermonuclear War” as envisaged by director John Badham for truly visionary sci-fi young adult thriller “WarGames”. Still regarded as the first and definitive “hacker” movie “WarGames” was a huge success on its release and a key film of the early 80’s. The original UK quad offered here is from first year of release 1983 and presents extremely well, being originally folded (as issued). The dark colours are deep and unfaded and the imagery unusual for the time as it uses photographs of the stars (Matthew Broderick & Ally Sheedy) set agains the huge super computer. It is a great looking poster perfectly attuned to the feel and look of of the movie. Very rare and hard to find in such excellent original unrestored condition. This example displays superbly and represents an extremely collectable piece of original 1980’s cinema memorabilia.
Trivia: Matthew Broderick ‘s character of David Lightman was inspired by real-life hacker David Scott Lewis, who isn’t allowed to discuss whether he ever hacked into a military computer.
