Based upon photography by Michael Muller, BLT Communications LLC have created a truly dynamic ‘origin’ poster for the inaugural cinema outing for one of the corner stone characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe “Captain America: The First Avenger”. This original ‘Cast Style’ 2011 UK quad film poster for Marvel’s all action super hero romp for the iconic ‘Captain’ and is certainly impressive and perfectly suited to the horizontal landscape style of the British quad. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks stunning and displays to excellent and memorable effect…One of the best looking posters to date for any of the Marvel Studios’ releases with colourful super-hero Steve Rogers/Captain America artwork that represents a fine piece of collectable modern cinema movie memorabilia. If movie posters follow the trend of the comics, then ‘key’ and first appearances will become equally significant…this features the first appearances of Captain America (Steve Rogers), Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) and Peggy (Agent) Carter in the Marvel cinematic Universe.
Trivia: Originally cameo appearances were planned in the film for James “Logan” Howlett (Wolverine) and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto), who were present during World War II (Logan was a soldier and Lehnsherr was in an internment camp). These cameos were scrapped due to rights issues.…more detail

Captain America: The First Avenger Movie Poster
“It is 1942, America has entered World War II, and sickly but determined Steve Rogers is frustrated at being rejected yet again for military service. Everything changes when Dr. Erskine recruits him for the secret Project Rebirth. Proving his extraordinary courage, wits and conscience, Rogers undergoes the experiment and his weak body is suddenly enhanced into the maximum human potential. When Dr. Erskine is then immediately assassinated by an agent of Nazi Germany’s secret HYDRA research department (headed by Johann Schmidt, a.k.a. the Red Skull), Rogers is left as a unique man who is initially misused as a propaganda mascot; however, when his comrades need him, Rogers goes on a successful adventure that truly makes him Captain America, and his war against the Red Skull begins.”
“Captain America: The First Avenger“ is a pretty decent film by its own merits. Showing the good old retro style and production design, since this film is directed by Joe Johnston who is capable of portraying the old times perfectly. Chris Evans did a great job as Captain America. Some of the action scenes are rather ‘vanilla’ but at least the CGI effects are effective. The movie ends with true patriotic heroism and full of heart. Definitely not new but it’s still enjoyable.
The trope of “Captain America: The First Avenger“ has been reused by so many superhero movies. A good guy who is a weakling became powerful then eventually saves the day. It’s definitely not innovating even for the people who’ve never read the comics but it’s a relic. Well made production design & the old fashion score. Most battle scenes are montages. The action scenes are large. It can be watchable but some of them are pretty bland and poorly directed.
The joys and the thrills mostly goes to the performances. Nothing goes wrong with Chris Evans. He did a decent job as Steve Rogers/Captain America. Hugo Weaving is fun to watch by his campiness and menace for the Red Skull. Tommy Lee Jones is the comic relief here. The special effects are everywhere. Plenty of things worked in the end. “Captain America: The First Avenger“is a throwback in its old fashion style but a little messy when it comes to the editing of the action scenes, but it’s still enjoyable. Patriotic heroism, full of heart, Chris Evans, and decent production design. Marvel Studios and Joe Johnston really beats the awful 1990’s version. The action could have been better but their flaws can be ignored. It’s a fun enough ride as a superhero movie and the perfect introduction for the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

11 x 14″ printed on heavy stock paper. Used as display in theatre lobbies. Originally made in sets of eight. Some sets have a title card, which contains credits and artwork, essentially a mini-poster. The remaining seven cards are coloured photographic credits and poster artwork showing different scenes from the movie.
14 x 22″ printed on heavy stock paper with the top 4-6 inches usually left blank for the local cinema owner to fill in the cinema and the date it was due to play. Largely discontinued during the 1970’s.
22 x 28″ printed on heavy stock paper. The image displayed is normally a smaller version of the main poster, although some do have different artworks and sometimes come in two versions.
14 x 36″ printed on heavy stock paper. Inserts usually have the same artwork as a one sheet. Popular with collectors since they are smaller and easier to frame. Normally come tri folded or rolled.
STYLE Y/FORTY BY SIXTY
40 x 60″ printed on heavy stock paper. Rare since they were primarily used for major motion pictures only. Designed to be used outside the theatre, on an easel, normally at a drive-in movie theatre.
27 x 41″ printed on paper. This is the most common size of poster, intended to be displayed in a glass “marquee” case. It is the most sought after size by collectors. Since the 1980’s most posters are sent to the theatre rolled and maybe slightly smaller measuring 27″ by 40″ and with the advent of backlit light boxes a growing number of modern movie posters are available double-sided and the more traditional single-sided.
41 x 81″ printed on paper. These were printed on two or three separate sheets designed to overlap, few survive. Used for larger advertising spaces, normally posted on walls, perfect for huge movie theatres the drive-in, where people could see them from a distance. From the 1970’s on, three-sheets were sometimes printed in one piece and issued as “international” versions to be used abroad.
30 x 40″ Most common poster size used in the UK. British Quads are horizontal and may have different artwork to the US one sheet. Like a US one sheet they normally come in two versions. Like a US one sheet they are usually supplied single-sided or more commonly now as a double sided poster.
27 X 40″, printed on paper. Very rarely used size.
13 x 28″ six inches shorter than the US insert, very nice size to frame. Italian poster illustrators are some of the best in the industry.
18 x 26″ Glossy, high quality, used as lobby cards in Italy. Size may vary, either vertical or horizontal format. There are also double Photobusta or mini Photobusta.
(DUE): 39 x 55″ This is the standard poster size used in Italy. Italian poster illustrators are some of the best in the industry.
(QUATTRO) 55 x 79″ Very large Italian poster printed in two pieces, often contains very beautiful artwork.
47 x 63″ (GRANDE) or 24 x 33″ (PETITE) French movie posters normally come with different artwork to either the US or the UK. Like the Italian’s some of the artwork is extrememly beautiful.
