An outstanding alternative movie poster for Francis Ford Coppola’s multi award winning Vietnam war epic “Apocalypse Now”. There is no doubting the influence and impact of Coppola’s 1979 masterpiece with any paper hugely desirable and the German A1 film poster offered here is no exception. This design was one of several created by Bob Peak with this style featuring stylised images of Brando as Colonel Kurtz and Sheen, remarkable artwork for Coppola’s voyage into the ‘Heart of Darkness’. Peak’s designs for “Apocalypse Now” is widely regarded as one of the great and most iconic movie poster campaigns, winning an Award of Excellence from The Society of Illustrators in 1980. So it was no surprise that in 2021 when Mondo issued a remastered screenprint licensed by Zoetrope Productions with production and colour separations handled by Jason Edmiston, Jon Smith, Shane Mahn and Peak’s son Alex, it sold out immediately. From a hand-numbered edition of 425, this is #72. Trivia: John Milius explained how he had come up with the title “Apocalypse Now”. Apparently, this was derived from a very popular tattoo among the hippie community of a peace sign that said “Nirvana Now”. Milius, by adding just a couple of extra lines, edited the peace symbol to make it look like a circle with a B52 bomber in the middle, and changed the slogan to “Apocalypse Now”.

A personal favourite and quite simply a stunning alternative movie poster for Francis Ford Coppola’s multi award winning Vietnam war epic “Apocalypse Now” by Jock. Like something out of a widescreen images handbook, the grandiose and all-consuming art within this limited edition giclee art print for Apocalypse Now is as visually masterful as the film it depicts. Truly an impressive piece; the range of red colour tones for the sky is incredible (the photo does not do it justice). This print is both Hand-Signed and Hand-Numbered #110/150 in the bottom right corner in pencil. Originally rolled (as issued) with an amazing colour palette this outstanding example presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a beautiful alternative movie poster from one of the best artist’s currently working and the finest film’s ever made. When launched in 2015 this was a sold out, fully subscribed private commission and is rarely offered for sale on the secondary market. “Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that”

What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

A personal favourite and quite simply a beautiful film poster for the 40th Anniversary remastered & restored release of Francis Ford Coppola’s multi award winning Vietnam war epic “Apocalypse Now”. There is no doubting the influence and impact of Coppola’s masterpiece with any paper hugely desirable and the 2019 Laurent Durieux designed UK quad film poster offered here is no exception. The imagery truly captures the cloying atmosphere and dark tone of the movie with a close up shot of army assassin Benjamin Willard (Martin Sheen) emerging from the river with his target Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando) a reflected mirror image. The red and green colour palette only enhances the whole look; absolutely stunning poster (the photo just doesn’t do this poster justice, it needs to be seen to be appreciated) with truly memorable imagery for Coppola’s voyage into the ‘Heart of Darkness’. Originally rolled (as issued) this totally unrestored example presents and displays to excellent effect with only minimal handling wear that represents an incredible piece of original movie memorabilia from one of the finest film’s ever made…“Napalm, son. A beautiful British Quad for Terrence Malick’s cinematic debut “Badlands” starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek as the young couple on a killing spree across the ‘badlands of Montana’. This 2008 BFI (British Film Institute) re-release offering sees the original 1973 British artwork adapted to a full bleed image with no white border. It really works, resulting in a particularly powerful silhouette imagery. Presented unrestored, in originally rolled (as issued) condition, this scarce British poster rarely comes to market and represents a fine piece of cinematic memorabilia for a cult classic movie.
Trivia: The film’s plot and lead characters are based on Charles Starkweather and Caril Fugate. In 1958, they embarked on a murder spree that horrified the country.

“Barbarella, an astronaut from the 41st century, sets out to find and stop the evil scientist Durand Durand, whose Positronic Ray threatens to bring evil back into the galaxy.”
In arguably the most famous role of her career, Jane Fonda stars as “Barbarella” in Roger Vadim’s, campy, sci-fi fantasy. Based on the hugely popular French comic strip by Jean-Claude Forest the film is considered one of the 1960s quintessential cult movies. Its stylish and colourful comic art layout scenes are truly unique for the period, and represent a nice homage to its comic book roots. These scenes are captured to great effect in a series of eight British front of house lobby cards with Fonda featured in all, including the iconic and super sexy ray-gun in hand pose. In addition to the set offered, also included is the hard to find synopsis card and the brochure. The brochure is particularly striking being finished in black and white with a silver background and pink lettering. Originally flat-unfolded (as issued) this beautiful complete set of all eight cards and extras display superbly, vibrant, unfaded colours and an incredible selection of key scenes. An impressive set of highly collectable cinematic memorabilia for a much admired sci-fi classic that rarely turns up as complete as here.
Trivia: Jane Fonda is filmed at times, especially during the opening spacesuit striptease sequence, in the famous French director’s “Vadim Tease” directorial style.

An exceptional looking movie poster for Stanley Kubrick’s 1975 historical drama “Barry Lyndon”. With superbly detailed imagery by Richard Amsel this is the much rarer ‘full’ artwork version and perfectly suited the the British UK quad landscape format; this really is a beautifully designed poster and becoming increasingly hard to find. Originally folded (as issued) this displays superbly retaining a crispness with deep unfaded colour tones. This excellent unrestored example presents near perfectly and represents an exceptional piece of collectable original film memorabilia. Perhaps over-looked by Kubrick’s other masterpieces he made many great films – and this one is most definitely one of them!
Trivia: Stanley Kubrick‘s first movie to feature an auteur opening credit of “A film by Stanley Kubrick”. It also contains his longest on-screen credit in the end titles: “Written for the screen, produced, and directed by Stanley Kubrick.”

An all-action sci-fi vista of a film poster for Glen A. Larson’s ‘epic’ “Battlestar Galactica”. Receiving a full cinematic release it was an edited together version of three TV shows released in the USA largely to cash in, on the still very popular ‘Star Wars’ phenomena. With some colourful, dynamic sci-fi artwork by Robert Tanenbaum (a homage to Tom Chantrell’s famous art for ‘Star Wars’ perhaps ?) this original 1978 country of origin US one-sheet movie poster is presented in original unrestored, folded (as issued) condition. It displays to impactful effect with light age and handling wear; colours are deep and unfaded with some truly rip roaring laser blasting, robot, space ship adventure imagery. A cool item that represents a fantastic piece of very collectable and desirable original movie memorabilia for a much loved and hugely popular film and TV franchise.
Trivia: John Dykstra, who worked on Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) used much of the technology developed for ILM in this movie, including his motion control camera, the so-called “Dykstraflex”.

A cult film poster for a cult ‘Brit-Flick’ gangster movie…Sacha Bennet’s brutal true-life crime thriller “Bonded By Blood”. The original 2010 UK quad film poster offered here is a ‘cast-style’ offering featuring the main stars. A very collectible example, this originally rolled (as issued) film poster displays beautifully and is presented in excellent condition with just very minor handling wear and represents an extremely desirable piece of original British movie memorabilia.
Trivia: This is the third telling of the notorious Essex Boys murders that was previous filmed as Essex Boys (2000) and Rise of the Footsoldier (2007).

A great looking movie poster for the Park Circus (BFI) 30th Anniversary 2006 release of Alan Parker’s 1976 film “Bugsy Malone”. The classic all-singing and dancing gangster movie with an all child cast that is the first and only gangster movie to involve cream filled bullets fired by the legendary “splurge” gun…The artwork from the original 1976 UK quad has been cleverly re-imagined highlighting the two stars; Jodie Foster & Scott Baio whilst retaining a 1930’s theme. Originally rolled (as issued) this excellent unrestored example displays and presents to superb effect and represents a scarce item of collectible memorabilia from one of British cinema’s quirkiest films.
Trivia: The development of the splurge guns took three months work by special effects boffins at Pinewood Studios. A gunsmith was consulted by fxpert Malcolm King to resolve the very complex ballistic problem of being able to shoot a capsulated custard pie without it first splurging the firer-splurger.

“Charlie”, Malcolm Needs’ Brit-Gangster film loosely based on the life and times of notorious London gangster Charlie Richardson and his gang. The original UK quad film poster to accompany the 2004 release features a striking close up of ‘Charlie’ played by Luke Goss. Like many small studio independent releases the advertising campaign was very low key and the UK film poster that accompanied the extremely limited cinema showings is truly scarce. Originally rolled this incredibly scarce example displays to excellent effect and represents a highly sought after piece of collectible film movie memorabilia presented in superb condition.
