Luc Besson’s 1994 dark action thriller “Leon: The Professional” remains one his most celebrated movies. Showing in only a handful of ‘art-house’ cinemas the advertising campaign was very low key and the distinctive British campaign is unquestionably the best looking of any marketing campaign. The stylish red and black design is used here on the fully illustrated synopsis tri-fold which is accompanied by four original black and white promotional stills; two feature Jean Reno as the master assassin Leon, one shows his young apprentice Mathilda (Natalie Portman) with the remaining still a rare candid shot of Luc Besson. Any marketing material that accompanied the limited cinema release is truly scarce. Originally flat and unfolded (as issued) it all presents in original unrestored condition with only minor handling wear. Hugely collectable & desirable original film memorabilia from a truly stylish cult classic movie of the 90’s.
TRIVIA: Luc Besson got the idea of doing this movie while working on his previous movie, Nikita(1990). In that film’s third act, Victor the Cleaner appears to deal with the aftermath of Nikita’s botched mission. Realizing the potential of the character was underused in that movie, Besson decided to create a story that focused on the activities of such a character. Both Victor and Leon appear dressed in a long wool coat, sunglasses and a knit cap. Both are played by Jean Reno. The film’s working title was “The Cleaner”.

“Whether they said M.M. or merely Monroe…You always knew they were talking about the one and only…Marilyn!”
Gorgeous poster created in promotion of 1963’s “Marilyn”, the documentary tribute using archival footage of Marilyn Monroe’s films, narrated by Rock Hudson, celebrating her screen legacy shortly after her death. Featuring stunning artwork and an amazing colour palette, from Boris Grinsson of Monroe in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”, this French “Grande” poster is from the 1975 re-release of the film in France. Stunning in person, and impressive not just because of Grinsson’s imagery and use of colour, but also due to the large format, it exudes glamour and old Hollywood. Originally folded (as issued) this example presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a beautiful item of original cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The film ends with and alternative version of “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” filmed in CinemaScope.

“You are the victim of men who think they are right… Just as one day you and captain Yonoi believed absolutely that you were right. And the truth is of course that nobody is right…”
A complete set of all eight (8) US lobby cards presented in totally original unrestored condition. An absolutely fantastic collection of images from 1983, in what was to become a memorable screen role for David Bowie as Jack Celliers in Nagisa Ôshima’s “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence”. The imagery chosen for the eight cards perfectly capture the whole feel of the movie with Bowie featured on six leaving Tom Conti, as the titular Mr. Lawrence and a prisoner of war riot to complete the set. Incredibly hard to source as a complete and in this high grade condition, as most sets were split as music fans focussed on the six cards highlighting Bowie. These, unfolded, flat (as issued) examples present and display to excellent effect and represent a really exciting music/movie collectable from one of the most influential icons of modern pop culture…David Bowie.
Trivia: David Bowie was cast in the role of Major Jack Celliers after director Nagisa Ôshima saw a performance of his on the stage in a Broadway production of ‘The Elephant Man’.

“You are the victim of men who think they are right… Just as one day you and captain Yonoi believed absolutely that you were right. And the truth is of course that nobody is right…”
A striking image of David Bowie for the 1983 film “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence” features a distinctive painting of David Bowie wearing a khaki army uniform, hat and scarf, standing with his arms behind his back with a black and white Japanese samurai sword lodged in the ground between his feet. This original first year of release (1983) British door panel poster is a truly great find. With the added bonus of being rolled this presents very well with great Bowie imagery and really does justice to the iconic actor/musician. Incredibly scarce in this narrow format standing over five feet tall and with a very low print run this really is an exciting music/movie collectable from one of the most influential icons of modern pop culture…David Bowie.
Trivia: The distinctive music score and soundtrack in this film is notable. It was composed by Ryûichi Sakamoto and it is considered to be the breakthrough movie to which he and his music became well-known around the world.

“Humanity’s last hope…Rests on a high power machine gun”…Quentin Tarantino gave us “Death Proof” and Robert Rodriguez “Planet Terror” in their 2007 homage to the “Grindhouse” movies of the Seventies…With no UK or USA lobby cards produced this impressive set of 6 French lobby cards is not only very special but very rare and unique. An excellent set with a great selection of character and memorable scene cards…Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) does tend to steal the show in her featured cards. All 6 present flawlessly (probably unused); the sratchy, faded and worn look is by design rather than wear. Included is the original Studio issued Planete Terreur liveried envelope…Fantastic value as a set…Very scarce extremely collectable & super cool !

“My revenge has spread over centuries and has just begun!”
The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1974) was the eighth Hammer film and the seventh and final one to feature Christopher Lee as Count Dracula and the last time Lee and Peter Cushing would star together. The British poster campaign was illustrated by Hammer’s regular artist Tom Chantrell. The green-wash background contrasts effectively with the red Day-Glo title of the film, with Lee’s Dracula the focus of attention against a London skyline featuring the familiar landmarks of Big Ben and the Post-Office Tower. Presented unrestored and in excellent original folded (as issued) condition, this originally belonged to the renowned horror historian and collector Forrest Ackerman and is accompanied by a certificate from his Estate. A personal favourite of mine and featured in Marcus Hearn’s excellent book “The Art of Hammer”. An excellent investment grade example of original rare Hammer Horror movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Count Dracula poses as a multi-millionaire who is never seen in public and never photographed. A 1970s audience would inevitably have been reminded of the eccentric and reclusive Howard Hughes.

A personal favourite; film and poster. (IMHO) McQueen’s best performance, he was the ‘The Kid’…Without doubt one of the best looking McQueen film poster images. With design and artwork by Georges Allard this original 1965 French ‘Medium‘ Affiche film poster for “The Cincinnati Kid” (Le Kid de Cincinnati) is a stunning piece. Deep, rich colours and beautiful painted artwork, very striking and a fantastically rare French poster featuring country unique imagery; effective and memorable as McQueen’s presence dominates (rightly so) the poster. A real find in such high grade original condition. Totally unrestored this folded (as issued) example displays and presents to excellent effect and represents a scarce & highly collectable item of authentic movie memorabilia from one of the great Steve McQueen performances…“You’re good, kid, but as long as I’m around you’re second best. You might as well learn to live with it.”
Trivia: The rather gratuitous fight scene in the film was added at the instigation of Steve McQueen who had it written into his contract that he feature in an action scene.
