“Out of the darkness…comes the Knight.”
There were some outstanding posters produced for Christopher Nolan’s 2008 “Batman Begins” sequel “The Dark Knight” but this advance “Coming Soon” teaser takes the plaudits…a truly stunning looking film poster designed by Crew Creative Advertising. This International one sheet was printed in USA for use in United Kingdom and Europe and depicts the Batman silhouetted against a striking city scape and is the rarest of any paper for the movie. The photograph really doesn’t do this poster justice. Originally rolled (as issued) this beautiful unrestored example displays and presents to magnificent effect and represents a hugely collectable item of modern original movie memorabilia from a truly outstanding film franchise and an icon of modern pop culture…“The night is darkest before the dawn.”
Trivia: In Sir Michael Caine‘s opinion, Heath Ledger beat the odds and topped Jack Nicholson‘s Joker from Batman (1989): “Jack was like a clown figure, benign but wicked, maybe a killer old uncle. He could be funny and make you laugh. Heath’s gone in a completely different direction to Jack, he’s like a really scary psychopath. He’s a lovely guy and his Joker is going to be a hell of a revelation in this picture.” Caine bases this belief on a scene where The Joker pays a visit to Bruce Wayne’s penthouse. He’d never met Ledger before, so when Ledger arrived and performed, he gave Caine such a fright, he forgot his lines.

“Could the big breaker break them up ?…Three friends. Twelve Turbulent Years. And One Day We All Must Face.”
The only time the Californian surf culture was portrayed accurately in a Hollywood studio film. Surfing aficionados consider this John Milius written & directed movie to be one of the best surfing-related films made, in part because of the legendary surfing cinematography sequences by Greg MacGillivray and the appearance of several professional world champion surfers. Any paper from this cult movie is rare with the British UK quad being perhaps the rarest and certainly (IMHO) the best looking featuring ‘surfing the big wave’ artwork that perfectly suits the landscape format. Surfing and the surf culture surrounding it unlike in the USA was relatively unknown in 70’s Britain with a very small dedicated fanbase & following, hence the very limited cinema screenings for “Big Wednesday” resulting in these quad posters rarely being offered for sale & certainly not in this excellent condition. Originally folded, the foldlines are now virtually un-noticeable thanks to the high standard of linen backing. From first year of release, 1978 this original UK quad film poster is presented in first class condition with incredible unfaded colours and amazing surfing artwork. A beautiful example of original film movie memorabilia that represents a fantastic opportunity to purchase one of the ‘cult’ sporting posters from the 70’s.
Trivia: Gary Busey would later star alongside Keanu Reeves, in another surfing movie, Point Break (1991), but his character never surfed.

Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’, Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” iconic dystopian classic is unquestionably one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. So, it was no surprise a sequel was made, what was surprising was the follow-up never happened until 2017, thirty-five years after the original was released. Still, it’s fair to say the wait was worth it – “Blade Runner 2049” sees Harrison Ford reprise his role as Rick Deckard and a new Blade Runner is introduced, ‘K’ played by Ryan Gosling. It’s a visually beautiful movie with some imaginative action scenes perfectly orchestrated by director, Denis Villeneuve. The visual impact is certainly evident in the poster campaign that accompanied the release. Advertising agency WORKS ADV have produced an impressive series of posters including this amazing Advance ‘10.6.17’ US one-sheet. Produced in two versions – one with a red title and the other a blue title. For me the ‘Tiffany’ blue style (as offered here) is much more effective. This rolled (as issued) example displays and presents to excellent effect with minimal handling wear and represents an impressive piece of cinematic movie memorabilia for one of the most influential film series not just of the sci-fi genre but modern culture in general.

Designed by creative arts agency LA with photography by Michael Muller this originally rolled (as issued) example looks stunning and displays to superb effect, perfectly suited to this portrait format. With a retro feel and look, Captain Marvel AKA Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) looks truly heroic and takes centre stage in full costume as she strikes across the sky accompanied by a squadron of F-15 jet fighters. An absolutely stunning piece of alternative movie poster art by Matt Taylor. This is a sold out screen print for the Marvel Studios release “Captain Marvel” released by Mondo in 2019. The character depicted is the cosmically powered super-heroine Carol Danvers sporting her red, white, and blue Earth uniform. This is a hand numbered regular edition of 1725 with this being #1008. Originally flat & unfolded (as issued) this superb example displays to impressive effect (honestly the photo does not do this justice…needs to be seen), perfectly suited to this portrait format. Captain Marvel AKA Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) looks truly cosmic and takes centre stage in a full on ‘power’ pose. Very cool and very collectable this exceptional looking piece represents a fantastic item of ‘modern’ super-hero movie memorabilia.

“Penguin, Joker, Riddler and Catwoman, too ! The sum of the angles of that rectangle is too monstrous to contemplate !”
Released in 2014 as the third instalment of The Art of Ken Taylor through Mondo. This screenprint depiction of Julie Newmar as Catwoman is stunning and a great tribute to the Feline Femme Fatale. It captures the seduction Newmar brought to the character while conveying the light-hearted feel of the beloved 1960s Batman TV series. This is the Regular orange background edition which is hand-numbered #124 out of 275 and signed by the artist. I am a huge Batman fan (all incarnations) and this is one of my favourite Batman posters, a great fun item and a fantastict item of collectable memorabilia from an icon of modern pop culture.
Trivia: Originally planned as the pilot film for the Batman (1966) TV series, the movie was instead produced between the show’s first and second seasons. The producers took advantage of the larger budget to have a number of new Bat-gadgets constructed, such as the BatBoat.

According to a “Vanity Fair” interview with Director Brett Morgen, after Frances Bean Cobain saw the film at its Sundance premiere, Morgen escorted her back to her car. Before leaving, Cobain embraced Morgen and said, “You made the film I wanted to see.”
“Cobain: Montage of Heck” is Brett Morgen’s authorised documentary on the late musician Kurt Cobain, from his early days in Aberdeen, Washington to his success and downfall with the grunge band Nirvana. The original British one-sheet film poster to accompany the 2015 release features a ‘grungey’ black and white close up of Cobain. Like many ‘art-house’ and independent releases the advertising campaign was very low key and the UK film poster that accompanied the extremely limited cinema release is truly scarce. Originally rolled this incredibly rare example displays to excellent effect and represents a highly sought after piece of collectable music/film/ memorabilia presented in superb condition.
Trivia: Gus Van Sant had originally intended to make a direct bio-pic of Kurt Cobain in the mid-1990’s but ran into legal obstruction from Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love. Undeterred, Van Sant met with Love to discuss some ideas for the film, as well as her possible involvement. Though the two actually became friends and discussed the film for years, Van Sant eventually realized that Love was too devastated by Cobain’s death to ever collaborate on the film or even allow a bio-pic to ever be made and adapted his ideas into this fictionalized story.

Walt Disney’s live action super spy ‘James Bond’ spoof movie…“Condorman”. It has all of the cool gadgets, world-wide locations, a sexy femme fatale, creepy Russain villains, and best of all, some of the coolest car and boat chase sequences on film. The concept of the film is a cross between a comic book hero and a secret agent who failed O’Level spying. It has the humour of ‘The Morecambe and Wise Show’ and the special effects of an early Bond film. Regarded as a ‘Golden Age’ for Disney movie posters. It is the artwork from the Walt Disney posters produced during the 1970’s and early 1980’s that were probably the best looking from any period. Offered here is an original UK quad movie poster from the first year of release 1981 with some stunning art by the very talented Brian Bysouth. A fantastic looking, visual feast of a poster with beautiful design and artwork, bright bold colours and stunning all-action imagery featuring the titular “Condorman” offset against rocket firing cars and futuristic speed boats; a fantastic FUN poster. Originally rolled (as issued) this unrestored film poster presents to excellent effect and is a fine example of rare and collectable original movie memorabilia for a much loved and very popular Disney offering.

Trivia: During one take, when Condorman falls into the River Seine, Michael Crawford nearly drowned after the strength of the current was miscalculated. He was dragged five to ten feet under the water before two lifeguards pulled him out just in time. Crawford was willing to do the stunt again but director Charles Jarrott refused to allow it, and put a trained stuntman in his place.

An impressive and eye-catching item from the hand of master illustrator – Paul Mann, for the classic Paul Newman prison chain gang drama “Cool Hand Luke”. This stunning alternative movie poster features a beautiful image of Newman (dressed in prison fatigue double denim) along with the outstanding supporting cast in the background with Boss Godfrey (Morgan Woodward) one of the most prominent – He never removed the sunglasses throughout nor spoke a word and became known as ‘the man with no eyes’ one of the most significant and memorable characters from the Film. Hand-Numbered #69 from a print run of only 100, this originally rolled (as issued) example looks and displays to excellent effect. Unquestionably one of Newman’s finest roles, in a motion picture that has become near legendary and (rightly so) this modern re-imagining represents a highly collectable piece of artwork and a rare item of movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Two hundred hard-boiled eggs were provided for one of the film’s most famous sequences. Due to clever editing, Paul Newman only ate about eight altogether. The rest were consumed by the cast and crew, which led to extreme cases of flatulence the next day.
