Original UK Quad film poster for DavidCronberg’s 1983 sci-fi, horror, thriller “The Dead Zone”. Stephen King’s bestseller (his first to hit #1 and still one his most successful) is stylishly brought to the cinema screen by Cronenberg. Renowned for the more gory, body horror approach to film making, this is very much a clever and restrained adaption – and in my opinion is far better for it. Taking inspiration from one of the key scenes in the movie, British advertising agency FEREF have created an eye-catching design for the UK marketing campaign poster (imagery that is actually unique to the UK). Folded (as issued) this stunning example displays to excellent effect (probably unused). It represents a very high quality piece of Cinema memorabilia from a truly groundbreaking, influential film maker and the most successful American writer in history.
Trivia: This movie doesn’t explain the meaning of the phrase Dead Zone like the book does. Stephen King was going off old theories that people only use 10% of their brains, and that we haven’t even unlocked the secrets of the other 90%; and that when Johnny was in his coma his brain had to create new pathways to get around the paralyzed part of his mind. So new pathways were created in the Dead Zone, that 90% that people normally don’t use; and this enabled him to develop powers of ESP and second sight.

There is no doubting the influence and impact of Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 masterpiece “Pulp Fiction” and like so many of the Tarantino films the paper from each has become hugely collectable, but it is the posters from “Pulp Fiction” that are easily the most popular and valuable. The Japanese B2 film poster offered here is no exception. This Style A “white” version features a design unique to Japan with the John Travolta & Uma Thurman key ‘dance off’ scene as the central focus and Bruce Willis as the back drop with Travolta (again) as hitman Vincent Vega in the foreground. It is also the only poster to feature head shot photographs of the main cast (running down the left edge). Unique artwork and very cool looking this is a fantastic original poster for Quentin Tarantino’s most celebrated film to date. Originally rolled (as issued) this totally unrestored example presents and displays to excellent effect without a blemish of note and represents a fantastic piece of movie memorabilia from a truly iconic movie…“I do believe Marsellus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take ME out and do WHATEVER I WANTED. The impressive alternative movie poster offered here is no exception. This eye-catching, colourful design featuring one of the coolest cinema pairings in recent memory – Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (John Travolta) is by Dave Merrell was issued as a Bottleneck Gallery exclusive in 2023 in support of Brooklyn Animal. Originally rolled (as issued) this super rare example is an Private Proof (PP #15/15) presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a hugely collectable item of movie memorabilia from a truly iconic movie…“I’m sorry, did I break your concentration? I didn’t mean to do that. Please, continue, you were saying something about best intentions. What’s the matter? Oh, you were finished! Well, allow me to retort. What does Marsellus Wallace look like?”

“Heads Will Roll”
A true ‘Burtonesque’ classic. Tim Burton seems like the only film maker on the planet who could come up with characters such as the ones found in “Sleepy Hollow.” With a host of regular Burton collaborators and some familiar new faces (if you are a fan of classic horror you’ll be delighted) his stylish adaptation is based on the story by Washington Irving called “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, where he captures the slumbering, creepy village of Sleepy Hollow with vivid details and imaginative description. The way everything is presented, the trees look like something out of a fairy tale and the scenery represents deception in a mysterious wonderland, and makes this production a captivating and magical film experiences which is beautifully represented in this US one-sheet designed by BLT and Associates from first year of release, 1999. Presented rolled (as issued) it displays to excellent effect and represents a fantastic piece of original movie memorabilia for an innovative and popular film maker.
Trivia: Director Tim Burton says the film was inspired by the Gothic horror films of Mario Bava and Hammer Film Productions. Burton brought Hammer veteran Michael Gough out of retirement for a small role, and recruited Sir Christopher Lee, a veteran of both Hammer and Bava’s films, for a cameo.

Laurent Durieux’s 2018 screen print for Michael Cimino’s The Deer Hunter (1978). Released by Nautilus Art Prints, this print is signed and hand-numbered #43 from a limited print run of 375. It was voted Expresso Beans’ cinema poster of the year in 2018. Printed using eleven colour inks, Durieux’s illustration is a split mirror image composition showing Robert De Niro’s character Michael hunting in the tranquil mountains of Pennsylvania, and as a soldier in war torn Vietnam beset by explosions and helicopters. Beautiful colours and clever composition make for an impressive poster. Presented in excellent condition this rolled (as issued) example displays superbly and is an impressive piece of stylish poster artwork and is a hugely desirable alternative movie poster.
Trivia: According to Michael Cimino, Robert De Niro requested a live cartridge in the revolver for the scene in which Michael subjects Stanley to an impromptu game of Russian Roulette, to heighten the intensity of the situation. John Cazale agreed without protest, but obsessively rechecked the gun before each take, to make sure that the live round wasn’t next in the chamber.

Trivia: Although this movie was not directed by Quentin Tarantino, it is still considered part of the Tarantino universe. The two key pieces of evidence, is Lee Donowitz being the grandson of Sergeant Donnie Donowitz from Inglourious Basterds (2009), this being confirmed by Tarantino. The second piece of evidence, is the fact that Mr. White from Reservoir Dogs(1992) mentioned working with a girl named “Alabama”.
