Although a relatively recent release any paper for Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2011 violent car-themed actioner “DRIVE” is extremely scarce. His award winning film has been complemented by a series of alternative movie posters and in 2021 Mad Duck commissioned leading artist – Paul Mann to create his version which has been hand-numbered #89/325. Mann has produced an outstanding addition to the title, truly eye-catching and super stylish as he focuses on the lead and supporting characters. The deep, rich colours are predominantly purple colour palette with ‘Drive’ printed in contrasting bright pink ink. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with very minimal handling wear. An extremely scarce, selling out in near record time modern art print collectable item of movie memorabilia that looks very very cool !
Trivia: In preparation for his role, Ryan Gosling restored the 1973 Chevy Malibu that his character uses in the film.

Much like Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” released two years earlier, David Lynch’s “Dune” (1984) received lack-lustre reviews and a poor box-office return on its initial release. Jump forward to today and “Dune” is now regarded as a genre defining masterpiece with a loyal and devoted fanbase. The poor box-office resulted in any associated cinema advertising material being junked and disposed of, making any paper highly desirable and collectable appealing not only to film fans but fans of the bestselling Frank Herbert novels. This original British UK quad film poster from 1984 features the beautiful and distinctive ‘two moons’ artwork. “A man went looking for America. And couldn’t find it anywhere . . .”
Rarely is a reissue poster more highly treasured than the original release, but this is “Easy Rider” one-sheet is one such title. In the 1969 campaign, the studio chose to play down the ‘biker flick’ theme, with only a daydreaming Peter Fonda in profile, no motorcycle insight. As the film was a chopper-thundering success, when paper for the re-release was launched in 1972, the studio showed no further hesitation, capitalising on the famous image of Fonda and Dennis Hopper rollin’ down the highway on their Harley motorbikes. Perhaps the best news for collectors and poster lovers alike is that they maintained the concept of the original poster, printing in the same soft yellow colour with the same soft-focus texturing. This allows the original and the reissue to be the perfect complement to each other. An absolute must-have example with an iconic design and use of bold colours (deep black and bright yellow in this case) which literally do ‘pop’ out from from the paper of this stunning original country of origin American poster. Trivia: During Jack Nicholson‘s “UFO” speech, Dennis Hopper was intent on getting him very stoned on marijuana. The laughing that eventually broke up his speech was not planned, and when Nicholson repeats the line “it . . . it . . . would be devastating . . . ” it was the next take. However, Nicholson was largely able to stick to the script as written, much to the crew’s amazement. This is a stark contrast to the other cast members, who improvised most of their lines.

Tom Cruise is one of the greatest movie stars in cinema history and certainly one of the most energetic and action centric actors, so it’s no surprise that in 2014 he took on a project that he was perfectly suited. Set in a war torn future, Cruise’s character Cage is a man fighting in a war against aliens and must relive the same day every time he dies until he can find a way to stop them invading the Earth. “Edge of Tomorrow” is a very clever, stylish (the exo-battle suits look super cool) time travel movie with some incredible action set pieces. The imagery featured here by Graphic design agency Concept Arts (regular collaborators with Cruise) on this 2014 US one sheet features both Cruise and Emily Blunt (she plays the elite warrior – Rita, who mentors Cruise) in full battle mode. Originally rolled (as issued) this presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a hugely collectable and totally cool piece of movie memorabilia for one of popular cinema’s most loved actors.
Trivia: Tom Cruise didn’t want the exo-suits to be too CGI, so it would be more real to the audience. He showed up two months early to research and develop the suit. He thought its weapons were fun and cool. Emily Blunt was unprepared for the weight of the suit which was between 85-90 pounds, and the armaments between 120-125 pounds.

1980’s movie posters don’t really come any better looking than Barry Jackson’s decapitated Statue of Liberty artwork for John Carpenter’s quintessential sci-fi actioner “Escape From New York”. You probably couldn’t find better movie from the 1980’s that introduces such an iconic cult character in Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken (criminally only used in one more movie) or sums up the period quite like John Carpenter’s quintessential sci-fi actioner “Escape From New York”. Carpenter always a well regarded and popular film maker has enjoyed a huge renaissance in more recent years so it was no surprise that this title was one of four seminal movies by the director re-released by Studio Canal in 2018, remastered in 4K, with the others being “They Live”, “Prince of Darkness” and “The Fog”. All four movies had a strictly limited cinematic release and were accompanied a newly designed poster campaign (quads and one-sheets) by leading artist Matt Ferguson. Ferguson’s unique artistic style is evident throughout the four, each with its very own unique colour palette. A number of these full-size 30″ x 40″ UK quad styles were also released as a limited edition art print by Vice Press. Identical to the cinematic quad, in fact exactly the same – same paper, printer etc these were issued as timed releases each signed and hand-numbered by Matt Ferguson. Offered here is one of these signed art prints numbered #48 from a print run of only 231. Originally rolled (as issued) it presents in excellent condition. A cool, cult poster that represents very collectable & desirable original film memorabilia from one of the greatest and most influential director’s who is still actively working in the film industry.

Designed by BLT & Associates this original Advance (June 27) US One Sheet movie poster from 1997 featuring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage for John Woo’s ultra-cool, stylish, gun fu, actioner “Face/Off”. The third (and to date, most successful) American feature from Hong Kong action director John Woo, is everything a fan of Woo’s Asian work could possibly hope for It’s a loud, fast-paced, spectacularly violent epic helmed by a master craftsman, even with this ambitious third American feature, it is vastly on par with the director’s Hong Kong work, is very easily one of the best films of his career. This rolled (as issued) example features the split images of both Cage and Travolta and is presented in excellent condition and represents a desirable item of cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Originally Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were in mind to play the lead roles. When John Woo was brought in to direct, he decided that John Travolta and Nicolas Cage would be more suited to the roles. Other pairs that the studio wanted was Michael Douglas (who was the executive producer for this movie) and Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis and Alec Baldwin, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal, Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes, and Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

A marvellous and eye-catching triptych of film posters from first release in 1997, designed by InSync Plus with includes the final release style US One Sheet and character posters for both Nicolas Cage and John Travolta for John Woo’s ultra-cool, stylish, gun fu, actioner “Face/Off”. Black and white blurred facial photography makes for some striking imagery with bright red detailing. The hi-gloss finish only adds to what is a fantastic looking series of three posters.
