“He Said He’d Be Back…and He Certainly is !”
Sci-fi movies can rarely be made in such way that can be looked at as works of art. This is one of the few exceptions. The prediction of judgment day with Hamilton watching a playground full of kids be burnt to the ground is an absolute brilliant portrayal of Armageddon. The theme that men will destroy themselves is also shown throughout the movie also and is even said by The Terminator…“It’s in your nature to destroy yourselves”. This brings the movie to a whole new level of sci-fi and one of the most sought after of titles by collectors of the genre and Schwarzenegger’s vast legion of fans. Offered here is a scarce large format Japanese B1 movie poster (equivalent to a standard one-sheet) for James Cameron’s sci-fi, time travel, shoot ’em up uber-actioner “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”. This example is often referred to as the ‘Smoke’ version featuring Schwarzenegger’s Terminator emerging from the smoke. In a design that’s unique to Japan the largely black and white imagery features Arnie’s eyes finished in a blazing red, leaving you in no doubt he is a Terminator. One of the most influential film of the past 25+ years with ground breaking CGI special effects and spectacular action set pieces. A very hard film poster to find in this fine unrestored rolled (as issued) condition that represents an impressive and stylish item of original cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Given Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s US $15 million salary, and his total of seven hundred words of dialogue, he was paid $21,429 per word. “Hasta la vista, baby” cost $85,716.

An impressive image of ‘King of Cool’ Steve McQueen and exclusive to the Japanese release for “The Getaway”. This original 1972 first release Japanese B2 film poster for Sam Peckinpah’s gritty thriller delivers the three “S’s” – Style, Substance & Steve McQueen and highlights a shotgun wielding McQueen. Printed on a heavier stock paper with a gloss finish this really is a striking and hard to find, Japanese poster. Totally original and unrestored this rolled (as issued) flat and unfolded example displays and presents to excellent effect and represents a scarce & sought item of authentic movie memorabilia from a popular Steve McQueen title that is often over looked from his impressive catalogue of roles.

“…when Johnny was first starting out, he was signed to a personal services contract with this big-band leader. And as his career got better and better, he wanted to get out of it. But the band leader wouldn’t let him. Now, Johnny is my father’s godson. So my father went to see this bandleader and offered him $10,000 to let Johnny go, but the bandleader said no. So the next day, my father went back, only this time with Luca Brasi. Within an hour, he had a signed release for a certified check of $1000.”
Francis Ford Coppola’s multi Oscar winning masterpiece “The Godfather” is THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE with any original, first release 1972 paper hugely sought after, with this Japanese B2, with its country unique artwork, one of the most desired for this crime classic. S.Neil Fujita’s iconic puppet-hand logo against stark black background, is complemented by colour stills imagery to produce a truly eye-catching design. Coppola got everything right, creating a cinematic event with an immeasurable influence on everyday culture and life.
Trivia: Marlon Brando wanted to make Don Corleone “look like a bulldog,” so he stuffed his cheeks with cotton wool for the audition. For the actual filming, he wore a mouthpiece made by Dick Smith. A magnificent example for one of the best feelgood films ever made…Richard Donner’s “The Goonies”. Add to the mix Steven Spielberg & Chris Columbus it was a guaranteed box office hit, but just to make sure they commissioned movie poster maestro Noriyoshi Ohrai to create an alternative style poster for the Japanese marketing campaign that complemented and could be displayed next to Drew Struzan’s familiar ‘hanging’ design . Ohrai in turn produced some of the best work of his career as featured here on this original 1985 Style A Japanese B2 film poster. The portrait format is perfectly suited to his design which is fondly referred to as the ‘One-Eyed Willie’ style. Originally rolled (as issued) this unrestored example looks incredible with amazing vibrant colour tones. A fantastic and eye-catching item for a hugely loved and popular movie that represents scarce original movie memorabilia for a film poster that has become one of the most desirable titles of the 1980’s…“Goonies never say die !”
Trivia: One Eyed Willie’s ship, The Inferno, was 105 feet long and took 2-1/2 months to construct. It was modeled after Errol Flynn‘s ship in The Sea Hawk (1940). The sails required more than 7,000 square feet of material, the largest measured 30ft by 60ft. Some of the ship’s rigging was recycled for the Pirates of the Caribbean ship at Disneyland, which was being renovated at the time.

“From a barbed-wire camp to a barbed-wire country, they made…THE GREAT ESCAPE !”
A very rare find, these two-panel Japanese posters just don’t turn up and are incredibly scarce. One of the biggest films of all times certainly deserves a striking poster and this original 1970 STB/Tatekan movie poster for John Sturges’ wartime adventure “The Great Escape” certainly impresses. Frank McCarthy’s ‘countdown’ artwork looks superb featuring Bartlett “Big X” (Richard Attenbrough), Hendley-“The Scrounger” (James Garner) and of course heading the group Hilts-“Cooler King” (Steve McQueen) and has been updated to include a photo montage of the cast and more importantly – McQueen attempting his motorbike jump escape. Although the most memorable scene from the film it doesn’t feature on any of the original 1963 paper and only on a handful or later release posters. The format makes for a truly stunning piece that presents very well and represents a superb example of very rare collectable film memorabilia from one of the greatest film’s ever made and featuring a character and final scene that has become synonymous with screen legend Steve McQueen and is regarded as a much loved classic and one of McQueen’s signature roles.
Trivia: During the climactic motorcycle chase, director John Sturges allowed Steve McQueen to ride (in disguise) as one of the pursuing German soldiers, so that in the final sequence, through the magic of editing, he’s actually chasing himself. McQueen played the German motorcyclist who hits the wire.

One of the most collected titles from the western genre, John Sturges’ star-studded blockbuster “The Magnificent Seven”. A must watch with an impressive number of film posters to match including the first year of release, 1960 Japanese B2 offered here A truly great design that emphasises the “7” with a series of all-action colour illustrations contained within its outline, off set against a beautiful light gold background. A simple yet very effective designed film poster with artwork that is unique to the Japanese release. The example offered here is presented in excellent unrestored, folded (as issued) condition. It displays beautifully. This rarely tuns up in such high grade condition and represents a fine piece of very rare original and collectable movie memorabilia for one of the big screen’s greatest & most loved films.
Trivia: Steve McQueen desperately wanted to act in this film but couldn’t at first because the schedule of his TV series, Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958), wouldn’t allow it. He crashed a car and while he was “out sick”, recovering from the accident he shot this film.

John Carpenter’s tale of alien occupation is part horror, part Sci-Fi and part social satire, all viewed through dark sunglasses of Roddy Piper . This original They Live movie poster is probably the scarcest of all the John Carpenter paper from the series of four (Escape From New York, Prince of Darkness, The Fog & They Live) 2018 remastered re-releases and a very rare find in such excellent condition as offered here…The original 2018 Japanese B2 film poster for John Carpenter’s They Live was originally rolled (as issued) & presents in exceptional original unrestored condition with great detailed artwork (unique to the Japanese re-release, as the other posters produced for these releases all feature new re-imaging artwork by Matt Ferguson) & strong vibrant colours. Extremely rare this example represents very collectable & desirable original film memorabilia from one of the greatest and most influential director’s ever working in the sci-fi / horror / action genre.

“Your Senses Will Never Be The Same”
Of the four poster designs created for the 1975 release of Ken Russell’s “Tommy” in Japan this style B is by far the rarest and visually the best. Featuring country unique Japanese artwork the “Christ like” imagery of Tommy (Roger Daltrey) his head adorned with a crown of poppies and bleeding torso pinned by poppies is a memorable sight. Complemented by border artwork of the all-star cast (The Who, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson, Oliver Reed to name just a few.) stands out as a great looking poster. Originally rolled (as issued) this rare example presents very well and as it features some of the greatest names ever in both rock music and the cinema represents a fantastic piece of highly desirable, collectable entertainment memorabilia.

“Five Criminals…One Line Up…No Coincidence.”
A classic movie poster from a classic 90’s crime thriller. A lovely rolled (as issued) Japanese B2 movie poster for Bryan Singer’s 1995 thought provoking mystery thriller “The Usual Suspects”. The clever imagery has the memorable line-up scene featuring the five ‘usual suspects’ – Kevin Pollak, Stephen Baldwin, Benicio Del Toro, Gabriel Byrne and Kevin Spacey. This Japanese poster design shows Kevin Spacey WITH a watch on. Many other posters from the U.S. and other countries had the watch removed as it gave clues to the film’s surprise ending. This example displays to excellent effect and represents a great looking item of original cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Verbal Kint says, “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist.” This quote from the French poet Charles Baudelaire also appears in End of Days (1999), also featuring Gabriel Byrne and Kevin Pollak.

“What do you know about make-up? You’re Just a Girl.”
Undoubtedly, one of the great concert footage films; David Bowie in “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars” . The historic farewell performance of the king of glam rock; directed by D.A. Pennebaker and featuring the award winning British musician David Bowie under his ‘Ziggy’ persona with his group The Spiders from Mars – Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Mick Woodmansey – performing at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on 3rd July 1973. This original Japanese B1 (equivalent to a one-sheet) is a truly great find with imagery unique to this very limited re-release (only happened in Japan) in 2022. Presented in near perfect unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition the imagery features a fantastic, rarely seen close up of Bowie in Ziggy persona – stunning, really doing justice to the iconic musician. Incredibly scarce with a very low print run this really is an exciting item of rock / movie collectible from one of the most influential icons of modern pop culture…David Bowie.
