Nautilus Art Prints released this Laurent Durieux variant as a limited run of 200 in 2017. In this poster, Durieux creates a bright and colourful retro summer aesthetic as he illustrates the memorable scuba-suit pool scene from Mark Nichols’ 1967 comedy-drama-romance “The Graduate”. This scene was very symbolic in displaying Ben’s (Dustin Hoffman) lack of control over his future whilst he was still trapped under hs parents control. The 12-colour screen print is signed by Durieux and hand-numbered #36/200. Having a very limited release these alternative movie posters are incredibly rare. Unrestored, this rolled (as issued) poster presents and displays to exceptional effect and represents a superb example of genuinely scarce modern film memorabilia featuring one of Hollywood’s greatest romantic comedy’s…classic and very COOL!
Trivia: In the famous promotional still and original poster for this film, Dustin Hoffman is seen in the background framed by Mrs. Robinson’s shapely leg. The leg in that photo didn’t belong to Anne Bancroft, however; it belonged to a then-unknown model, Linda Gray, who later played Mrs. Robinson in a London stage musical of The Graduate & Sue Ellen Ewing in the TV show Dallas.

Probably the most important film of ‘modern’ cinema, launching a movie trend that is now commonly referred to as the ‘Summer Blockbuster’. It also happens to be one of the best and most memorable movie poster images ever ! So why reinvent it ? Of all the different variations for a “Jaws” poster, this alternative movie poster by Thai artist Kwow for Stephen Spielberg’s “Jaws” is a spectacular display of imaginative artwork. Kwow’s impressive artwork beautifully portrays the most memorable scenes from the film and is beautifully complemented by some amazing realistic likenesses of the main cast members – Quint (Robert Shaw), Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) and Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss). Film and alternative movie posters by Thai artists are starting to gain a strong following with collectors, and with artists like Ise Ananphada, Banhan, Kwow and Tongdee Panumas, it’s easy to see why. What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

Designed by The Seiniger Advertising Agency with finished artwork by Roger Kastel the poster imagery has attained an almost cult status. The designers of the 2019 Park Circus release Quad have cleverly incorporated the original poster design into a more ‘modern’ imagining with great success. Their poster is a spin on the Roger Kastel classic, the iconic image of the shark looming under an unsuspecting Chrissie as she swims through the water. This image fills the entire poster design, given a twist with a paint splatter style bleed at the edges that is sure to give it that extra collectable desirability. Park Circus re-releases are notoriously limited screenings making any paper from them very hard to come by and incredibly rare. Presented unrestored and in original rolled condition, this is a near perfect example for the classic Spielberg film. When it comes to amazing alternative movie posters, this limited edition art print by Laurent Durieux is a real eye-catcher and more along the lines of a travel poster as ‘Martha’s Vineyard Welcomes You’. There are a lot of alternative ‘Jaws’ posters on the market with this 2020 offering considered one of the best and most desirable with beautiful imagery. This wonderful design, featuring the second on screen victim – Alex Kitner is very clever as Alex is seen running on the Amity beach, the sea in the background and if you look closely the black Labrador Pippin about to run into the sea and meet his grisly fate. Look closer and you see an additional easter egg as one of the kites flying high above the beach resembles a black shark’s fin; a nod to Durieux’s earlier 2013 Jaws poster where the same fin is shown on a sunshade. This originally rolled, unfolded (as issued) example displays to exceptional effect. Durieux’s style is unmistakable with perfect, colours and composition. A truly outstanding and extremely rare art print that represents an impressive item of highly sought after modern movie memorabilia.

“They called him “Fast Eddie”… He was a winner… He was a loser… He was a hustler.”
Rarely is a reissue poster more highly treasured than the original release, but this is – “The Hustler” one-sheet is one such title. When this movie was first released, the studio seemed to want to hide that it was about “pool hustling”, and it was sold as being a romance, and there was little to no mention (or images) of pool on any of the first release 1961 posters. But when the movie was quickly re-released three years later in 1964, it had become an Academy Award winning classic, and learning from their mistakes, the new marketing campaign featured a striking stylised design – a pool cue with images of the actors within billiard balls set against a green baize background. An absolute must-have example with an iconic design and use of bold colours which literally do ‘pop’ out from the paper of this stunning original country of origin American poster. Originally folded (as issued) the example offered here has been professionally conservation linen backed to a very high standard and appears rolled. It represents a hugely collectable and desirable example of cinema movie memorabilia for one of the defining sports based movies ever made. A truly classic movie and poster.
Trivia: All the pool shots in the movie are performed by the actors themselves (Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason) except one: the massé shot (cue ball sends two object balls into the same pocket), performed by Willie Mosconi.
