“To know death, Otto, you have to f**k life…in the gall bladder!”
Although the Andy Warhol name is only referred to in the title for Paul Morrissey’s 1974 shock horror “Andy Warhol’s Flesh For Frankenstein” (also released as “Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein”) it cannot be said that the accompanying British movie poster for this release is not impressive. Based on an original design and layout by Warhol the finished artwork is provided by the Italian artist Arnaldo Putzu. Putzu certainly has produced a beautiful piece of horror art that fits in perfectly to the landscape structure of this British format; striking and colourful, this outstanding imagery is unique to the UK release. Any art or memorabilia with a Warhol connection is very collectable and this original 1974 UK quad film poster is no exception. Presented in excellent unrestored original folded (as issued) condition this high grade example displays superbly and represents a fine piece of very desirable original cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Although the film is often referred to as “Andy Warhol‘s Flesh for Frankenstein,” he wasn’t directly involved in the production, but allowed the director to use his name. Warhol would make rare visits to the sets and during the editing period.

Although the Andy Warhol name is only referred to in the title for Paul Morrissey’s 1974 campy, shock horror “Andy Warhol’s Flesh for Frankenstein” it cannot be said that the accompanying front of house lobby cards (not by Warhol) for this Bryanston Pictures release are not artistically impressive with some stylish horror and character imagery. The card I chose to highlight the set is a fantastic homage to the gothic horror offerings of the past with a female and male ‘zombie’ creation by Baron Frankenstein. Any memorabilia with a Warhol connection is very collectable and this complete set of all eight (8) front of house lobby cards is no exception. Presented unrestored, in original fla/folded (as issued) condition this lovely set displays very well and represents a fine collection of original movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The film was shot with a 3D technique called Spacevision. Unlike other 3D films that usually required red and blue glasses, this one required polarized glasses with one lens slightly shifted, which allowed full colors in the film. The 3D effects were mostly pronounced in the center of the screen.

A clever, stylish design with FRANKENSTEIN apparently written in blood over an open cut then sewn together in thick black thread…certainly memorable. An all-action sci-fi vista of a film poster for Glen A. Larson’s ‘epic’ “Battlestar Galactica”. Receiving a full cinematic release it was an edited together version of three TV shows released in the USA largely to cash in, on the still very popular ‘Star Wars’ phenomena. With some colourful, dynamic sci-fi artwork by Robert Tanenbaum (a homage to Tom Chantrell’s famous art for ‘Star Wars’ perhaps ?) this original 1978 country of origin US one-sheet movie poster is presented in original unrestored, folded (as issued) condition. It displays to impactful effect with light age and handling wear; colours are deep and unfaded with some truly rip roaring laser blasting, robot, space ship adventure imagery. A cool item that represents a fantastic piece of very collectable and desirable original movie memorabilia for a much loved and hugely popular film and TV franchise.
Trivia: John Dykstra, who worked on Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) used much of the technology developed for ILM in this movie, including his motion control camera, the so-called “Dykstraflex”.

Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’, Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” iconic dystopian classic is unquestionably one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. So, it was no surprise a sequel was made, what was surprising was the follow-up never happened until 2017, thirty-five years after the original was released. Still, it’s fair to say the wait was worth it – “Blade Runner 2049” sees Harrison Ford reprise his role as Rick Deckard and a new Blade Runner is introduced, ‘K’ played by Ryan Gosling. It’s a visually beautiful movie with some imaginative action scenes perfectly orchestrated by director, Denis Villeneuve. The visual impact is certainly evident in the poster campaign that accompanied the release. Advertising agency WORKS ADV have produced an impressive series of posters including this amazing Advance ‘10.6.17’ US one-sheet. Produced in two versions – one with a red title and the other a blue title. For me the ‘Tiffany’ blue style (as offered here) is much more effective. This rolled (as issued) example displays and presents to excellent effect with minimal handling wear and represents an impressive piece of cinematic movie memorabilia for one of the most influential film series not just of the sci-fi genre but modern culture in general.
Trivia: The first letter of the names of each of the wooden animals that Rick Deckard carved in this movie: Rhino, Antelope, Cat, Horse, Elephant, Lion, spell “RACHEL”.

“A man went looking for America. And couldn’t find it anywhere . . .”
Rarely is a reissue poster more highly treasured than the original release, but this is “Easy Rider” one-sheet is one such title. In the 1969 campaign, the studio chose to play down the ‘biker flick’ theme, with only a daydreaming Peter Fonda in profile, no motorcycle insight. As the film was a chopper-thundering success, when paper for the re-release was launched in 1972, the studio showed no further hesitation, capitalising on the famous image of Fonda and Dennis Hopper rollin’ down the highway on their Harley motorbikes. Perhaps the best news for collectors and poster lovers alike is that they maintained the concept of the original poster, printing in the same soft yellow colour with the same soft-focus texturing. This allows the original and the reissue to be the perfect complement to each other. An absolute must-have example with an iconic design and use of bold colours (deep black and bright yellow in this case) which literally do ‘pop’ out from from the paper of this stunning original country of origin American poster. Originally folded (as issued) the example offered here has been professionally conservation linen backed to a very high standard and represents a hugely collectable and desirable example of cinema movie memorabilia for one of the defining cultural movies of the psychedelic 60’s appealing to film and motorcycle collectors alike…The ultimate ‘road’ movie !
Trivia: During Jack Nicholson‘s “UFO” speech, Dennis Hopper was intent on getting him very stoned on marijuana. The laughing that eventually broke up his speech was not planned, and when Nicholson repeats the line “it . . . it . . . would be devastating . . . ” it was the next take. However, Nicholson was largely able to stick to the script as written, much to the crew’s amazement. This is a stark contrast to the other cast members, who improvised most of their lines.
