Truly one of the greatest gangster films ever made Sergio Leone’s Once Upon A Time In America. An epic, episodic, tale of the lives of a small group of New York City Jewish gangsters spanning over 40 years and thankfully it has a movie poster to match it. This original 1984 US one-sheet features beautiful atmospheric design with a fantastic image of the Brooklyn Bridge and sepia colours that are a perfect complement to Leone’s film. Originally folded (as issued) this rare example is presented in beautiful unrestored condition; it presents and displays to excellent effect and represents an impressive example of very collectable original movie memorabilia from a multi award winning film and one of cinema’s leading directors.
Trivia: Sergio Leone had refused the offer to direct The Godfather (1972), an opportunity he deeply regretted. This may have partly inspired him to try a gangster film. Leone has also notably used the flashback technique pioneered in The Godfather: Part II (1974).

Trivia: The word “Jedi” is derived from the Japanese words “Jidai Geki,” which translate as “period adventure drama.” A period adventure drama is a Japanese television soap opera program set in the samurai days. George Lucas mentioned in an interview that he saw a “Jidai Geki” program on television while in Japan a year or so before the movie was made, and he liked the word.
What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

Featuring a fantastic illustration, unique among Star Wars posters, this 1979 (first release in Hungary) Hungarian poster by artist Tibor Helenyi is one of the rarest designs ever printed for the film. Part of a series the artist made for each film in the trilogy, each poster came in both a full colour format and a monotone format, with the monotone versions (as offered here) considered to be the much rarer of the two. A first time offering for us, this example presents to excellent effect with minimal handling wear. Very much a favourite among Star Wars collectors and hugely collectable it represents an incredibly scarce item of Star Wars cinematic memorabilia. “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.”
Trivia: George Lucas was so sure this movie would flop that instead of attending the premiere, he went on vacation to Hawaii with his good friend Steven Spielberg, where they came up with the idea for Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).

But it’s fair to say that Martin Ansin’s 2024 offering for the George Lucas sci fi classic sequel “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” is something special and the perfect complement for the movie considered the best the franchise – it really is incredible with photographs not doing it justice. Offered here is the hand-numbered (#156/425) variant screen printed on a foil finish paper – it truly is spectacular with superb print quality and presented in excellent rolled (as issued) condition. The edition on the print says 425, but only 375 were made available for public purchase. The remaining 50 are blanks that are for Martin’s Artist Proofs.
