“The Karate Kid” was a huge box-office hit for John G. Avildsen when released in 1984, going on to launch a number of sequels, remakes (including a change of gender) and an incredibly popular and long running TV series “Cobra Kai”, which picks up the story in present day using nearly all the original cast. Any paper from the series is hugely collectable with the first release, 1984 country of origin, US one-sheet (as offered here) the most sought after. Like many film posters from the period it’s an early example of photo-shopping, which in this case really works well, with a silhouetted Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) the main focus as he is about the perform the iconic ‘crane kick’. Presented in excellent rolled (as issued) condition, it truly is superb and a marvellous item of collectable cinematic memorabilia from an extremely popular franchise.
Trivia: The yellow classic automobile that Daniel polishes in the famous “wax-on/wax-off” training scene, then later offered by Mr. Miyagi as Daniel’s birthday gift, was actually given to Ralph Macchio by the producer, and he still owns it. The car is a 1948 Ford Super De Luxe.

Although a relatively recent release any paper for Damien Chazelle’s 2016 multi award winning musical romance phenomenon “La La Land” is scarce. Taking audiences by storm at the box-office it was never expected (by the Studio) to be the huge worldwide success it turned out to be with a merchandising and marketing budget not reflected in the success. Hence the rarity of the film posters. Chazelle’s Oscar winning film was complemented with an award winning movie poster created by the creative arts agency LA. Stylish and simple the movie poster offered here is the British UK quad film poster affectionately known as the “dancing style” with both stars, Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) & Mia (Emma Stone) prominently featured and complemented by the five star glowing reviews. Trivia: Several of Stone’s outfits are replicas of iconic dresses such as the green dress Mia wears on her first date with Sebastian which was modelled on a Judy Garland dress from the film A Star Is Born (1954). The black trousers were reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn‘s look in Funny Face (1957).

Although a relatively recent release any paper for Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2016 violent horror thriller “Neon Demon” is extremely scarce. His award winning film was complemented with a series of award winning movie posters, with this stunning UK quad designed by the creative arts agency AllCity. Although popular with audiences and critics alike the movie is considered “art-house” or “independent” and had a very limited cinema release resulting in the scarcity of the poster. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with minimal handling wear; the colours of the deep blues and purples are dark and unfaded. An extremely scarce, modern original collectable movie memorabilia from a truly talented director that looks very very cool !
Trivia: The second film by Nicolas Winding Refn to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival that received both booing and cheering after the press showing. The first film was Only God Forgives (2013)

The success of “Predator” when released in 1987 meant a sequel was always inevitable, however the action hero of the first movie wasn’t available – move over Arnie and welcome Danny Glover. Not only was there a new direction for the hero but the jungles of South America were swapped for a crime ridden Los Angeles. A clever follow up in many ways as it really does continue where the first movie finished as the Government, now fully aware of an other worldly being try to turn the tables and trap a predator – bad move. This 2021 Private Commission by Juan Carlos Ruiz Burgos features spectacular artwork, and is actually the first time a licensed print for “Predator 2” has been issued, and frankly it would be a hard to find a better one as Burgos really has created something special. Titled ‘The Concrete Jungle‘ it is printed on Cougar White paper using fifteen (15) coloured inks which includes a glitter varnish used to mimic the wet skin of the Predator and a bright luminous green glow in the dark ink for the title. Hand-numbered #45 from a print run 110 this beautiful example displays and presents to excellent effect and represents an incredible looking piece of modern cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Keyes (Gary Busey) is the first character to ever use the word “predator” to refer to the creature on-screen when he says “we’ve prepared a trap for this predator”. The word “predators” is also used by Isabelle in Predators (2010), but she uses it to refer to the human characters in the film, not the Predator creatures. It wasn’t until The Predator (2018) that the creature itself is referred to as ‘predator’ again, with someone adding that the term ‘hunter’ would be more appropriate.
