  • Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Alternative Movie Poster

Star Wars Episode VI – Return of the Jedi

    £195.00

    “The Empire Falls…”

The concluding chapter of the original Star Wars trilogy is reimagined in this beautifully detailed alternative movie poster from 2022 by acclaimed Thai illustrator Ise Ananphada. Her distinctive combination of elegant portraiture, intricate decorative elements and vibrant colour gives the film’s celebrated characters and intergalactic settings a fresh artistic identity.

Released in 1983, “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” follows Luke Skywalker as he confronts Darth Vader and the Emperor, while the Rebel Alliance prepares its decisive assault on the second Death Star. Ananphada’s carefully constructed composition reflects the film’s combination of spectacle, adventure and emotional resolution, bringing together imagery from across its climactic story.

Produced as a strictly limited edition of 400, this example is individually hand-numbered #25/400 and presented rolled in excellent condition. Its accomplished artwork and limited availability give it tremendous visual impact, making it a superb display piece for collectors of Star Wars, contemporary alternative artwork and rare cinematic memorabilia.

Trivia: A reason for filming under the guise of non-descript horror movie title, “Blue Harvest” was partly to put off any snoopers, and also because the production found out that if they mentioned they were working on the next Star Wars movie, suppliers would automatically ramp up their prices, assuming that money was no object for Lucasfilm.

Instead, he bankrolled the $18 million production himself, using a combination of his profits from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) and a bank loan. Although the move was risky, it paid off several times over. Lucas recovered his investment within three months of the movie’s release.

According to them, the wormhole should be capable to unite two distant points in the universe, altering space-time laws to cross from a point to another in a brief period of time. The name “wormhole” compares the universe to an apple, with a worm boring through it to reach a point on the other side instead of crawling the long way around on the outside.

  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre Alternative Movie Poster

    Texas Chainsaw Massacre

    £295.00

“WHO WILL SURVIVE AND WHAT WILL BE LEFT OF THEM ?”

Described by The News of the World as the ‘sickest carnival of slaughter ever seen’...“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” has become one of the most debated films of all time bringing (at the time) nauseating, forceful horror to the screen with a focussed realism that was new to mainstream cinema. Arguments raged as most councils and cinemas across the country banned it’s release (The full fascinating story of the censorship battle is well worth checking out on the official BBFC website.) with only a handful of cinemas eventually bowing to public demand and showing the Film. Reimagined on an incredible scale and one of the most licensed titles for an alternative movie poster – it takes something special to stand out from the crowd and Graham Humphreys’ 2023 release certainly does that; horror art at its finest. Printed for Texas Frightmare Weekend and only available to purchase from the Mondo booth, this signed and hand-numbered (AP 28/30) artist proof print is an outstanding tribute to Tobe Hooper’s ground breaking movie, introducing one of the horror genre’s most iconic characters and a very rare and collectable alternative movie poster for perhaps the most influential cult horror film of the modern era…“There are moments when we cannot believe that what is happening is really true. Pinch yourself and you may find out that it is.”

Trivia: Ed Gein – on whom “Leatherface” was loosely based–was not a true serial killer, as he actually only killed two people, both of them women. He was however, a graverobber. He stole body parts–only female–from many different graves. He kept some of the parts in his refrigerator, and skinned one corpse and wore the skin as a dress.

  • The Fog Movie Poster

    The Fog

    £225.00

“Bolt Your Doors. Lock Your Windows. There’s something in The Fog !”

After the huge success of “Halloween” John Carpenter quickly followed up with the equally memorable horror “The Fog” – a guilty pleasure film of mine as I love how well Carpenter develops the tension and tells the story with great cinematography, sound, and use of locations. Carpenter always a well regarded and popular film maker has enjoyed a huge renaissance in more recent years so it was no surprise that this title was one of four seminal movies by the director re-released by Studio Canal in 2018, remastered in 4K, with the others being “They Live”, “Escape From New York” and “Prince of Darkness”. All four movies had a strictly limited cinematic release and were accompanied a newly designed poster campaign (quads and one-sheets) by leading artist Matt Ferguson. Ferguson’s unique artistic style is evident throughout the four, each with its very own unique colour palette. A number of these full-size 30″ x 40″ UK quad styles were also released as a limited edition art print by Vice Press. Identical to the cinematic quad, in fact exactly the same – same paper, printer etc these were issued as timed releases each signed and hand-numbered by Matt Ferguson. Offered here is one of these signed art prints numbered #48 from a print run of only 224. Originally rolled (as issued) it presents in excellent condition. A cool, cult poster that represents very collectable & desirable original film memorabilia from one of the greatest and most influential director’s who is still actively working in the film industry.

Trivia: Although this was essentially a low budget independent movie, John Carpenter chose to shoot the movie in anamorphic widescreen Panavision. This decision gave the movie a grander feel for the viewer so this didn’t seem like a low budget horror movie.

Francis Ford Coppola’s multi Oscar winning masterpiece “The Godfather” is THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE with this limited edition alternative movie poster by the artist Jeff Kleinsmith, a truly memorable and eye-catching design for this crime classic. Kleinsmith’s artwork and use of bold colour is very clever with more than a nod to the Eastern European school of poster design. Full of classic Godfather symbolism – the severed horse’s head, oranges from the Don’s garden and a blood splatter that features all of the Corleone Family – subtly stating that the Family has blood in its history. Commissioned for a limited screening at the Alamo Drafthouse theatre in 2009, this fine example has been hand-numbered #253 from a print run of only 285. It displays to excellent effect and is an outstanding example of an alternative movie poster for a film, that is a phenomenon.
