“The Trick Was To Stay Alive”
John Carpenter’s masterpiece of modern horror “Halloween” was the first and by far the best of this enduring film franchise which acted as the definitive slasher flick. The artwork for any of the film poster produced are all extremely collectable and strikingly individual in design; from the ‘Jack O’Lantern’ US one sheet to the UK quad film poster featuring a screaming Jamie Lee Curtis as Michael Myers’ hand appears at the car window; all seen through an icy blue haze. Offered here is one of the best of the more modern alternative movie poster designs by the artist Tyler Stout. Stout’s unique linear style and use of autumnal colour tones makes for a truly distinctive piece. Released in 2021 as a timed limited edition of only 2,170 (this is hand-numbered #1073) it immediately became a huge fan favourite. Originally rolled, flat-unfolded (as issued) the example offered displays to exceptional effect and represents a truly outstanding and extremely desirable item of collectable John Carpenter horror movie memorabilia.
Trivia: John Carpenter considered the hiring of Jamie Lee Curtis as the ultimate tribute to Sir Alfred Hitchcock who had given her mother, Janet Leigh, legendary status in Psycho (1960) (for the same reason, Dr. Sam Loomis was named after Sam Loomis from Psycho). During the same period, Universal studio producers and director Richard Franklin were trying to enroll Jamie Lee in the new production of Psycho II (1983).

The Harry Potter series of films is without doubt the biggest movie franchise of recent years with merchandise and memorabilia from the first instalment “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” very sought after and collectable. Several creative advertising agencies were commissioned to provide a wide and diverse range of posters for the initial release with the United States producing its own series of campaign posters under the amended ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’ title. Arguably one of the best is the painted, full cast artwork by Drew Struzan. Incredibly popular with fans and highly collectable it is no surprise that in 2023 Bottleneck Gallery released two high quality, limited edition prints of the artwork and it is the title style offered here which has been hand-numbered #95/550. The print quality and colour saturation is outstanding and truly a joy to behold in person. Originally rolled (as issued) this lovely example presents to excellent effect and represents is a fine piece of Harry Potter movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The Hogwarts’ motto, “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus”, means “never tickle a sleeping dragon”.

A magnificent alternative movie poster for Lewis Gilbert’s 1977 James Bond extravaganza…“The Spy Who Loved Me”…Cubby Broccoli wanted this to be “BIGGEST Bond of All” and it certainly lived up to the billing, utilising the massive purpose built 007 soundstage at Pinewood Studios, still very much in use today. The action-packed artwork by artist Alfons Kiefer features all the classic imagery you’d expect to see in a Bond film, 007 dressed in a tuxedo, exotic location, gadgets, psychotic villains and beautiful, glamorous women – Barbara Bach who played the Russian super spy Anya Amasova (Agent XXX) and Caroline Munro (the helicopter pilot Naomi). This thirteen-colour screenprint is presented on Fedrigoni Materica Gesso paper and is hand-numbered #34/85. This amazing limited edition art print represents a fine piece of very collectable James Bond movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The closing credits say, “James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only (1981)” but, because of the successes of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), the space set Moonraker (1979) was chosen.

“Humanity’s last hope…rests on a high powered machine gun”
A superb and eye-catching alternative movie poster by Graham Humphreys’ for “Planet Terror”, Robert Rodriguez‘ homage to the ‘Grindhouse’ movies of the Seventies. A clever, stylish design as heroes, zombies and monsters adorn the background with a centre-piece which focuses on the iconic Rose McGowan‘s ‘machine gun legged’ character – Cherry Darling. Presented in excellent unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition with amazingly vibrant colour tones this hand-numbered Artist Proof edition from 2021 is hand-numbered #AP 2/5 and has been signed by Graham Humphrey’s that represents a an amazing piece of cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Michael Parks reprises his character as Sheriff Earl McGraw in Planet Terror (2007). He also played Sheriff Earl McGraw in Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), as well as Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004).

“Poltergeist” is a no holds barred, roller coaster ride through the supernatural world and back to ours from the creative minds of Steven Spielberg, Tobe Hooper, Jerry Goldsmith, and Beatrice Straight that brings a modern take to the haunted house genre and it’s effects on a normal suburban family who live there. Based upon Rob Bottin’s iconic ‘robo’ suit design Paul Mann produced the perfect alternative movie poster to complement his graphics. A truly striking image for Paul Verhoeven’s ultra violent sci-fi masterpiece “Robocop” that is perfectly suited to the portrait format of this edition. Robocop is offset against a colourful background of supporting characters and action imagery, that are made to stand out when placed in front of the black background. It gives a depth that gives an almost 3D effect to the colour imagery. Printed by Mad Duck in 2022 this limited edition art print is hand-numbered #47 from a print run of 200. This excellent example presents and displays near perfectly and represents a fantastic piece of collectable movie memorabilia from one of the defining movies of the 80’s. The ‘original’ & BEST, “Robocop” is fondly remembered and spawned a popular TV show, two sequels and was recently remade as a ‘big budget’ CGI sci-fi actioner…“I’d buy that for a dollar !”
Trivia: The repeated line “I’d buy that for a dollar!” comes from Cyril M. Kornbluth‘s short story “The Marching Morons”, which presents a similarly cynical view of an over-commercialized future that’s desensitized to violence and war. A radio game show in that short story uses the line “I’d buy that for a quarter.” as its signature phrase.

“He was Tony Montana. The world will remember him by another name…SCARFACE”
One of the greatest and most influential gangster movies of all time and this 2022 limited edition art print by Matt Ferguson and Florey is one of the best alternative movie posters produced for Brian De Palma’s “Scarface”. Hand-signed by both artists this artist proof edition released by Vice Press features a key scene from the movie as Tony Montana sits brooding in his darkened study awaiting the violent and bloody onslaught he knows is coming with the rug cleverly illustrated to resemble a river of blood. A fantastic example of highly desirable movie memorabilia, that’s very cool and looks incredible.
Trivia: The international corporation set up by Saddam Hussein to launder money from his various enterprises was called Montana Management after the Scarface (1983) main character.

Printed on Mirri Rainbow Foil art paper, Matt Ferguson’s artwork for this Vice Press 2023 release for “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” is truly impressive. Literally changing colour depending on the light and viewing angle with imagery depicting key scenes from the movie and of course, center-stage the iconic USS Enterprise. The Japanese typeface adds an air of the exotic and adds to the overall appeal in what is a fitting visual tribute for the first big screen cinematic outing for Captain Kirk & the crew of the starship Enterprise. Released as a limited edition of 175 this has been hand-numbered #28 that displays superbly and represents a fine piece of artwork and a very collectable alternative poster movie from Gene Roddenberry’s much loved TV and Movie series.
Trivia: William Shatner, (Captain Kirk) who saw the completed movie for the first time at the world premiere, was struck by the overall sluggishness of the movie, and was convinced that the Star Trek franchise died there and then. He reminisced, “Well, that’s it. We gave it our best shot, it wasn’t good, and it will never happen again.” But, having recalled his reaction fifteen years later, he has added, “Shows you what I know.”

For the 40th Anniversary 2023 re-release of the George Lucas sci fi classic sequel “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” Lucasfilm issued this amazing landscape format British quad featuring the artwork of Matt Ferguson, the hugely successful artist responsible for some of the most memorable recent Marvel cinematic releases and the award winning, fan favourite 40th Anniversary design for ‘Empire Strikes Back’. This ‘updated’ Return of the Jedi style features some of the best imagery from this instalment of the original trilogy with Luke Skywalker (now a Jedi Knight) and like many of the 1980 posters a dominant Darth Vader and the iconic scout walkers. Unlike the cinematic quad equivalent there are no credits, just put artwork and title – It truly is spectacular. Presented here in original condition this beautiful 2023 rolled (as issued) example has deep unfaded vibrant colour tones and displays to excellent effect with the very minimal of handling wear. With an extremely limited release of only 250 this hand-numbered #128 is a truly scarce poster and highly sought after, especially in this full size 30″ x 40″ quad landscape format. Trivia: A reason for filming under the guise of non-descript horror movie title, “Blue Harvest” was partly to put off any snoopers, and also because the production found out that if they mentioned they were working on the next Star Wars movie, suppliers would automatically ramp up their prices, assuming that money was no object for Lucasfilm.

Trivia: In order to avoid sharing creative rights, George Lucas decided to avoid using a major studio to finance this movie. Instead, he bankrolled the $18 million production himself, using a combination of his profits from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) and a bank loan. Although the move was risky, it paid off several times over. Lucas recovered his investment within three months of the movie’s release.

A beautiful alternative movie poster by Paul Mann for Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi actioner with an Egyptian mythology twist “Stargate”. Superb artwork for this highly enjoyable romp, resulting in one of the best looking alternative movie posters for the title. Printed in 2023 by Mad Duck this ‘Black’ edition is hand-numbered #25 from a run of 250. Mann’s beautifully detailed artwork and outstanding characterisations, combines with a beautiful colour palette to create an art print that certainly impresses. Presented in excellent (as issued) condition it represents a fine example of desirable and highly collectable cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The stargate is a system designed to open a wormhole. A wormhole is a hypothetical way of space travel called an “Einstein-Rosen bridge”, named after scientists Nathan Rosen and Albert Einstein. According to them, the wormhole should be capable to unite two distant points in the universe, altering space-time laws to cross from a point to another in a brief period of time. The name “wormhole” compares the universe to an apple, with a worm boring through it to reach a point on the other side instead of crawling the long way around on the outside.

“WHO WILL SURVIVE AND WHAT WILL BE LEFT OF THEM ?”
Described by The News of the World as the ‘sickest carnival of slaughter ever seen’...“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” has become one of the most debated films of all time bringing (at the time) nauseating, forceful horror to the screen with a focussed realism that was new to mainstream cinema. Trivia: Ed Gein – on whom “Leatherface” was loosely based–was not a true serial killer, as he actually only killed two people, both of them women. He was however, a graverobber. He stole body parts–only female–from many different graves. He kept some of the parts in his refrigerator, and skinned one corpse and wore the skin as a dress.
