  • Cobain: Montage of Heck Movie Poster

    Cobain: Montage of Heck

    £95.00

According to a “Vanity Fair” interview with Director Brett Morgen, after Frances Bean Cobain saw the film at its Sundance premiere, Morgen escorted her back to her car. Before leaving, Cobain embraced Morgen and said, “You made the film I wanted to see.”

“Cobain: Montage of Heck” is Brett Morgen’s authorised documentary on the late musician Kurt Cobain, from his early days in Aberdeen, Washington to his success and downfall with the grunge band Nirvana. The original British one-sheet film poster to accompany the 2015 release features a ‘grungey’ black and white close up of Cobain. Like  many ‘art-house’ and independent releases the advertising campaign was very low key and the UK film poster that accompanied the extremely limited cinema release is truly scarce. Originally rolled this incredibly rare example displays to excellent effect and represents a highly sought after piece of collectable music/film/ memorabilia  presented in superb condition.

Trivia: Gus Van Sant had originally intended to make a direct bio-pic of Kurt Cobain in the mid-1990’s but ran into legal obstruction from Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love. Undeterred, Van Sant met with Love to discuss some ideas for the film, as well as her possible involvement. Though the two actually became friends and discussed the film for years, Van Sant eventually realized that Love was too devastated by Cobain’s death to ever collaborate on the film or even allow a bio-pic to ever be made and adapted his ideas into this fictionalized story.

  • Condorman Movie Poster

    Condorman

    £225.00

    “He Spies ! He Flies ! He Death-Defies !”

Walt Disney’s live action super spy ‘James Bond’ spoof  movie…“Condorman”. It has all of the cool gadgets, world-wide locations, a sexy femme fatale, creepy Russain villains, and best of all, some of the coolest car and boat chase sequences on film. The concept of the film is a cross between a comic book hero and a secret agent who failed O’Level spying. It has the humour of ‘The Morecambe and Wise Show’ and the special effects of an early Bond film. Regarded as a ‘Golden Age’ for Disney movie posters. It is the artwork from the Walt Disney posters produced during the 1970’s and early 1980’s that were probably the best looking from any period. Offered here is an original UK quad movie poster from the first year of release 1981  with some stunning art by the very talented Brian Bysouth. A fantastic looking, visual feast of a poster with beautiful design and artwork, bright bold colours and stunning  all-action imagery featuring the titular “Condorman” offset against rocket firing cars and futuristic speed boats; a fantastic FUN poster. Trivia: During one take, when Condorman falls into the River Seine, Michael Crawford nearly drowned after the strength of the current was miscalculated. He was dragged five to ten feet under the water before two lifeguards pulled him out just in time. Crawford was willing to do the stunt again but director Charles Jarrott refused to allow it, and put a trained stuntman in his place.

  • Cool Hand Luke Alternative Movie Poster

    Cool Hand Luke

    £295.00

“He was smiling… That’s right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn’t know it ‘fore, they could tell right then that they weren’t a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he’s a natural-born world-shaker.”

An impressive and eye-catching item from the hand of master illustrator – Paul Mann,  for the classic Paul Newman prison chain gang drama “Cool Hand Luke”. This stunning alternative movie poster features a beautiful image of Newman (dressed in prison fatigue double denim) along with the outstanding supporting cast in the background with Boss Godfrey (Morgan Woodward) one of the most prominent – He never removed the sunglasses throughout nor spoke a word and became known as ‘the man with no eyes’ one of the most significant and memorable characters from the Film. Hand-Numbered #69 from a print run of only 100, this originally rolled (as issued) example looks and displays to excellent effect. Unquestionably one of Newman’s finest roles, in a motion picture that has become near legendary and (rightly so) this modern re-imagining represents a highly collectable piece of artwork and a rare item of movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Two hundred hard-boiled eggs were provided for one of the film’s most famous sequences. Due to clever editing, Paul Newman only ate about eight altogether. The rest were consumed by the cast and crew, which led to extreme cases of flatulence the next day.

  • Darkman Movie Poster

    Darkman

    £125.00

“They destroyed everything he had, everything he was. Now, crime has a new enemy and justice has a new face.”

An original 1990 US one-sheet movie poster for Sam Raimi’s comic book inspired ant-hero “Darkman”. Raimi’s cult classic creation is one of those movies that has aged better with time than on its first release with a loyal and devoted fanbase. Lead actor, Liam Neeson (in his first starring role) plays the titular hero with real style and features prominently (albeit swathed in bandages) on the John Alvin designed US one-sheet offered here as he’s seen almost as a silhouette set against an explosive city backdrop. Totally unrestored, this rolled (as issued) example displays & presents to very good effect. A great looking piece of horror, comic book style artwork that represents a scarce piece of cinematic movie memorabilia.

    Don’t Worry Darling

    £125.00

    “Welcome to Victory”

Although a relatively recent release any paper for Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling” is extremely scarce. Her much talked retro drama thriller is complemented by an amazing series of cinematic posters designed by the creative marketing agency Bulldog, with this ‘Welcome to Victory’ advance style my personal favourite; very stylish, clever imagery. Although accompanied by an extensive marketing campaign (largely due to the stars involved) the movie is considered “art-house” or “independent” and had a very limited cinema release resulting in the scarcity of the posters. Originally rolled (as issued) this UK quad looks and displays to excellent effect with minimal handling wear; the colours really have depth and tone. A rare, modern collectable item of movie memorabilia from a truly talented director that looks to be gaining that cult status.

Trivia: There are many clear references to Alice in Wonderland; the main character’s name being Alice, the fantasy world which she unwittingly enters into, the prominence of windows/mirrors (Through the Looking Glass), and lastly her neighbour Bunny may be a subtle reference to the iconic White Rabbit.

  • Escape From New York Movie Poster

    Escape From New York

    £225.00

“The world’s greatest leader is a hostage in the most dangerous place on Earth. Now only the deadliest man alive can save him.”

You probably couldn’t find better movie from the 1980’s that introduces such an iconic cult character in Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken (criminally only used in one more movie) or sums up the period quite like John Carpenter’s quintessential  sci-fi actioner “Escape From New York”. Carpenter always a well regarded and popular film maker has enjoyed a huge renaissance in more recent years so it was no surprise that this title was one of four seminal movies by the director re-released by Studio Canal in 2018, remastered in 4K, with the others being “They Live”, “Prince of Darkness” and “The Fog”. All four movies had a strictly limited cinematic release and were accompanied a newly designed poster campaign (quads and one-sheets) by leading artist Matt Ferguson. Ferguson’s unique artistic style is evident throughout the four, each with its very own unique colour palette. A number of these full-size 30″ x 40″ UK quad styles were also released as a limited edition art print by Vice Press. Identical to the cinematic quad, in fact exactly the same – same paper, printer etc these were issued as timed releases each signed and hand-numbered by Matt Ferguson. Offered here is one of these signed art prints numbered #48 from a print run of only 231. Originally rolled (as issued) it presents in excellent condition. Incredibly rare and much sought after original 1981 UK quad film poster for Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead”. Raimi’s original cult classic is probably one of the better zombie / supernatural movies ever made, becoming legend with the horror genre shocked audiences around the world and became a phenomenon. Lead actor Bruce Campbell is put through a continually escalating series of horrific encounters that allow him to show the full extent of his talent for slapstick comedy.
