Earle’s modernistic approach to design and painting resulted in giving the film a bold, unique art style, even though his colleagues did not care for his production methods and art style while the film was in production. The elaborate background paintings usually took seven to ten days to paint. By contrast, a typical animation background takes one workday to complete.

Rob Reiner’s much-loved fantasy adventure is celebrated in this exceptionally limited poster created by acclaimed British artist Matt Ferguson. The Cliffs of Insanity, sword-fighting ruins, sailing ship and storybook imagery capture the film’s unique blend of romance, comedy, adventure and fairy-tale magic. Measuring approximately 34 × 24 inches, this scarce event poster is presented rolled and remains in excellent condition. With its highly restricted attendee-only distribution and tremendous visual impact, it makes a superb display piece for collectors of “The Princess Bride”, alternative movie posters, Matt Ferguson and exclusive cinema-event artwork.

Trivia: According to author William Goldman, when he was first trying to get the movie made in the 1970s, a then-unknown Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to play Fezzik, and he was strongly being considered because Goldman could never get his first choice, André the Giant, to read for the role. By the time the movie was made about twelve years later, Schwarzenegger was such a big star they could not afford him. Andre was cast after all, and the two big men had gone on to become friends.
