“A man went looking for America. And couldn’t find it anywhere . . .”
Rarely is a reissue poster more highly treasured than the original release, but this is “Easy Rider” one-sheet is one such title. In the 1969 campaign, the studio chose to play down the ‘biker flick’ theme, with only a daydreaming Peter Fonda in profile, no motorcycle insight. As the film was a chopper-thundering success, when paper for the re-release was launched in 1972, the studio showed no further hesitation, capitalising on the famous image of Fonda and Dennis Hopper rollin’ down the highway on their Harley motorbikes. Perhaps the best news for collectors and poster lovers alike is that they maintained the concept of the original poster, printing in the same soft yellow colour with the same soft-focus texturing. This allows the original and the reissue to be the perfect complement to each other. An absolute must-have example with an iconic design and use of bold colours (deep black and bright yellow in this case) which literally do ‘pop’ out from from the paper of this stunning original country of origin American poster. Originally folded (as issued) the example offered here has been professionally conservation linen backed to a very high standard and represents a hugely collectable and desirable example of cinema movie memorabilia for one of the defining cultural movies of the psychedelic 60’s appealing to film and motorcycle collectors alike…The ultimate ‘road’ movie !
Trivia: During Jack Nicholson‘s “UFO” speech, Dennis Hopper was intent on getting him very stoned on marijuana. The laughing that eventually broke up his speech was not planned, and when Nicholson repeats the line “it . . . it . . . would be devastating . . . ” it was the next take. However, Nicholson was largely able to stick to the script as written, much to the crew’s amazement. This is a stark contrast to the other cast members, who improvised most of their lines.

The making of a movie has never been documented with more power to discern the true nature of what is happening behind the scenes than in this account of the torment and the passion of Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now. All of the drama and emotion was filmed and documented by Fax Bahr, George Hickenlooper & Coppola’s own wife, Eleanor then released in 1991 as the documentary “Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse”. In July 2025 to coincide with a 4K Ultra HD Special Edition release, Eleanor Coppola’s remastered movie received a limited number of cinema screenings. These were accompanied by an incredible newly commissioned poster by Akiko Stehrenberger which demonstrates a beautiful use of colour and featuring the helicopter imagery, so memorable from Apocalypse Now’s original 1979 marketing campaign and of course so pivotal in the movie itself. Rolled (as issued) it presents to excellent effect and represents one of the best reimagined cinematic posters in recent years and certainly in the running as the best cinematic poster of 2025.

“Get Ready For Rush Hour”
Designed by Dan Chapman this is an original 1994 UK Quad film poster for Jan De Bont’s exceedingly fast paced bomb on a bus actioner “Speed”. A true box-office blockbuster this movie quickly became an action classic spawning a sequal and acting as a template for many films since. In the same way “Die Hard” launched Bruce Willis as a credible action hero the same can be said of “Speed” and Keanu Reeves. This impressive, all-action film poster displays to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued) with bright, unfaded colours and eye-catching imagery that represents a great piece of original cinematic movie memorabilia from the movie that launched the career of John Wick & Neo.
Trivia: The film was released one week before O.J. Simpson led Los Angeles police on a chase in a white Bronco after he was suspected of murder. After the Bronco chase, many audiences who saw the film in theaters noticed how closely scenes from the film resembled the real-life Bronco chase, including media coverage and aerial shots of Los Angeles freeways.
