  • Predator Movie Poster

    Predator

    £575.00

“It came for the thrill of the hunt…It picked the wrong man to hunt”

One of the best films of the 1980’s and certainly one of Schwarzenegger’s finest roles, Predator is a film I’ve seen more times than I care to remember. Directed by John McTiernan, who would go on to helm “Die Hard” the following year (arguably the greatest action movie ever made), the film is an excellent mix of gung-ho action and sci-fi horror with a truly iconic monster (designed by Stan Winston). The rare and original UK quad film poster offered here is from first year of release 1987 and was created by a team at the FEREF design agency, including Stephen Laws, Frank Hillary and acclaimed movie poster artist Brian Bysouth. This was one of the first film posters by the artist to have been created with photo composition and not painted, as had been the case with his previous posters. This ‘thermal imaging’ version has a great action image of Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and is considered a classic amongst collectors of the genre. Originally rolled (as issued – this is the first time we have ever offered a rolled one) this beautiful unrestored example displays and presents to excellent effect. Extremely hard to find in this high grade condition it represents a fine piece of collectable original movie memorabilia.

Trivia: The Predator costume weighed over two hundred pounds, and even though 7’2″ Kevin Peter Hall was a large and powerful man, he had to be connected to a “bungie” rig, to enable him to move more believably.

  • The Fifth Element Video Movie Poster

    The Fifth Element

    £75.00

“There is no future without it !”

A rare rolled example of a Japanese first release video poster for Luc Besson’s sci-fi actioner “The Fifth Element”. This ‘Jump’ style design is unique to the Japanese release and features one of the key scenes from the movie. Presented in a widescreen ratio the image so sharp it’s almost like you are watching the film. Unusually, although it was printed for the Japanese release all of the test is in English. Offered here is an original landscape format Japanese B2 from its first release in 1997. The beautifully detailed artwork combined with amazing colours it certainly impresses. Presented in rolled (as issued) unrestored, original condition it represents a fine example of desirable and highly collectable cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Cartoonist Jean-Claude Mézières of “My Fifth Element”, also says that Luc Besson approached him for ideas, telling him: “I want to make a movie based on your visuals. But I am ready to pay you for the work.” The nuance is because there has long been a controversy that many elements in the Star Wars saga (several aliens, Darth Vader’s costume, Leia’s golden bikini, Han Solo’s carbonite) were lifted almost unmodified out of Valerian (in particular ‘L’Empire des Mille Planètes’, published in 1971), of which George Lucas is known to own several original editions, as seen during interviews in his study.

  • Top Gun Movie Poster

    Top Gun

    £875.00

“UP THERE WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST”

Absolute cheese on a stick, but “Top Gun” proves that that’s not always a bad thing. This movie’s got everything – an arrogant prodigy who’d be out on his arse if he wasn’t so good, a sensible, uglier best friend, a love interest, an arch nemesis and his dumb sidekick, a few cool high fives and catchphrases, an emotional death scene, a euphoric victory scene and of course, some unforgettable action scenes, punctuated by a cracking soundtrack. What more could any red-blooded child of the eighties ask for ? Well, how about the film poster ? From 1986 comes this rare and original UK Quad movie poster for one of the the 80’s most loved blockbusters. Cruise never looked slicker than featured here as Lt.Pete Mitchell or as he’s better known “Maverick”. Presented in excellent folded (as issued) unrestored condition it displays to magnificent effect with great character/action imagery and vibrant colours. This poster doesn’t turn up in such high grade condition very often & like a lot of key movie posters from the 80’s becoming very collectable & represents an outstanding example of original film movie memorabilia.

Note: This iconic poster was actually designed by the much respected artist Brian Bysouth and Robin Behling of Feref and was one of the first to be created using an early digital/photoshop process.

Trivia: Riding on the back of this film’s success, the U.S. Navy set up recruiting booths in the major cinemas to try and catch some of the adrenaline charged guys leaving the screenings. They had the highest applications rate for years as a result.

  • Willow Movie Poster

    Willow

    £125.00

“A world where heroes come in all sizes and adventure is the greatest magic of all

Largely due to the “Star Wars” effect and the huge global popularity of the “Dungeons & Dragons” role playing game, the 1980’s truly was the decade of the mystical sword and sorcery fantasy. Ron Howard’s’ “Willow” has stood the test of time well and is fondly remembered with a large and loyal fanbase. Boasting some amazing fantasy art for the British poster campaign by Brian Bysouth, (one of the most prolific and respected artists working in this field) this original 1988 UK quad for “Willow” certainly impresses. Scarce and hard to find in this high grade condition, this originally folded (as issued) example looks fantastic and presents in exceptional condition that represents a fine piece of hugely collectable original 80’s sci-fi fantasy movie memorabilia.

Trivia: George Lucas specifically wrote this film for Warwick Davis after meeting him on the set of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983).”
