  Evil Dead

  “Scream as your nightmares come true”

  Sam Raimi’s “The Evil Dead” is one of the best horror comedy movies ever made, full of dark humour and gory thrills. As most people know, this is one of the greatest performing films, dollar for dollar in cinematic history. One of the most popular film titles for alternative movie posters artists, this 2016 hand-numbered (#135/220) print by Francesco Francavilla is a standout piece and a proper horror poster as a chainsaw wielding Ash (Bruce Campbell) and the demonically possessed Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss) dominate the blood red coloured imagery. This example has been autographed by the Movie’s acclaimed Director and Writer Sam Raimi and annotated ‘Scream! Scream!’ The signing was carried out in 2023 (June) at FanExpo, Philadelphia and is accompanied by an official JSA Certificate of Authenticity from the event numbered AK96625.   Presented in excellent condition this rolled (as issued) example displays superbly that represents an impressive piece of signed horror artwork and is a hugely desirable alternative movie poster. “I know now that my wife has become host to a Kandarian demon.   Trivia: Over his years as a director, Raimi’s 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (originally bought by Raimi’s father for the family when Sam was 14) has “played” Ash’s car in the Evil Dead movies, Uncle Ben and Aunt May’s car in the Spider-Man movies, Annie’s car in The Gift (2000), and Mrs. Ganoush’s car in Drag Me to Hell (2009), and has made cameos in nearly all of his other movies.

  Jaws – Martha’s Vineyard Welcomes You

  “I just found out, that a girl got killed here last week, and you knew it! You knew there was a shark out there! You knew it was dangerous! But you let people go swimming anyway? You knew all those things! But still my boy is dead now. And there’s nothing you can do about it. My boy is dead. I wanted you to know that.”

  Probably the most important film of ‘modern’ cinema, launching a movie trend that is now commonly referred to as the ‘Summer Blockbuster’. It also happens to be one of the best and most memorable movie poster images ever ! So why reimagine it ?  Well, this is a perfect example of why. When it comes to amazing alternative movie posters, this limited edition art print by Laurent Durieux is a real eye-catcher and more along the lines of a travel poster as ‘Martha’s Vineyard Welcomes You’. There are a lot of alternative ‘Jaws’ posters on the market with this 2020 offering considered one of the best and most desirable with beautiful imagery. This wonderful design, featuring the second on screen victim – Alex Kitner is very clever as Alex is seen running on the Amity beach, the sea in the background and if you look closely the black Labrador Pippin about to run into the sea and meet his grisly fate. Look closer and you see an additional easter egg as one of the kites flying high above the beach resembles a black shark’s fin; a nod to Durieux’s earlier 2013 Jaws poster where the same fin is shown on a sunshade. This originally rolled, unfolded (as issued) example displays to exceptional effect. Durieux’s style is unmistakable with perfect, colours and composition. A truly outstanding and extremely rare art print that represents an impressive item of highly sought after modern movie memorabilia.

  Trivia: Several decades after the film’s release, Lee Fierro walked into a seafood restaurant and noticed an “Alex Kintner Sandwich” on the menu. She commented that she had played his mother many years ago. Jeffrey Voorhees, manager of the restaurant, ran out to meet her. He had played her son, and they hadn’t seen each other since the original movie shoot.

  Robocop

  Artist Saniose has produced the perfect alternative movie poster for Paul Verhoeven’s ultra violent sci-fi masterpiece “Robocop” Titled the Battle Damage edition Robocop is offset against a colourful background of action packed imagery and supporting characters, including the iconic ED 209.   This excellent signed item presents and displays near perfectly and represents a fantastic piece of collectable movie memorabilia from one of the defining movies of the 80’s. The ‘original’ & BEST, “Robocop” is fondly remembered and spawned a popular TV show, two sequels and was recently remade as a ‘big budget’ CGI sci-fi actioner…“I’d buy that for a dollar !”

  Trivia: The repeated line “I’d buy that for a dollar!” comes from Cyril M. Kornbluth‘s short story “The Marching Morons”, which presents a similarly cynical view of an over-commercialized future that’s desensitized to violence and war. A radio game show in that short story uses the line “I’d buy that for a quarter.” as its signature phrase.
