“Guardians of the Galaxy”… A bizarre assembly of misfits and losers which includes a gun-wielding genetically altered raccoon and a fighting tree creature whose could only speak a single phrase…“I am Groot”. Marvel was taking a chance, but needn’t have worried…Guardians was critical and commercial juggernaut which redefined the super hero genre and direction Marvel was to take. Being one of the most popular subjects for alternative movie posters, artist Roger Motzkus has created an incredible looking poster and one of my personal favourites for the movie. His hand-numbered #42/100 giclee screen print is the Footloose edition printed on Fedrigoni Sirio Pearl Ice White Paper with a spot varnish finish using twelve (12) different coloured inks. It truly is a stunning piece that has captured the actors’ likenesses with real accuracy and being a giclee print the colours have an amazing, vibrant finish. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect, absolutely beautiful and a desirable item of modern collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film franchise.
Trivia: The sensor that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) looks at when detecting the extra-dimensional creature during the opening of the movie is a modified 1977 Mattel handheld “Electronic Football” video game. Selling over one million units, this was one of the hottest items of Christmas 1977. The beep at the beginning is the “touchdown” sound, whilst the other beeps are the sound of the ball moving down the field.
What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

His hand-numbered #2233/2475 screen print is a stunning poster that has captured the actors’ likenesses with real accuracy and its eye-catching use of bold colours makes it really special. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect, absolutely beautiful and a desirable item of modern collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film franchise.

John Carpenter’s masterpiece of modern horror “Halloween” was the first and by far the best of this enduring film franchise which acted as the definitive slasher flick. The artwork for any of the film poster produced are all extremely collectable and strikingly individual in design; from the ‘Jack O’Lantern’ US one sheet to the UK quad film poster featuring a screaming Jamie Lee Curtis as Michael Myers’ hand appears at the car window; all seen through an icy blue haze. Offered here is one of the best of the more modern alternative movie poster designs by the artist Paul Mann. Mann’s stunning imagery and use of bold colour tones makes for a truly eye-catching piece as a menacing Michael Myers takes centre stage against a backdrop of a flaming halloween pumpkin. Released in 2024 as a limited edition of only 70 (this is hand-numbered #12). Originally rolled, flat-unfolded (as issued) the example offered displays to exceptional effect and represents a truly outstanding and extremely desirable item of collectable John Carpenter horror movie memorabilia.
Trivia: John Carpenter considered the hiring of Jamie Lee Curtis as the ultimate tribute to Sir Alfred Hitchcock who had given her mother, Janet Leigh, legendary status in Psycho (1960) (for the same reason, Dr. Sam Loomis was named after Sam Loomis from Psycho). During the same period, Universal studio producers and director Richard Franklin were trying to enroll Jamie Lee in the new production of Psycho II (1983).

The Harry Potter series of films is without doubt the biggest movie franchise of recent years with merchandise and memorabilia from the first instalment “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone” very sought after and collectable…Several creative arts agencies were commissioned to provide a wide and diverse range of posters for the initial release with the United States producing its own series of campaign posters under the amended ‘Sorceror’s Stone’ title. Arguably one of the best and certainly one of the rarest is the ‘Hogwarts’ Style Advance Teaser; this version hardly ever shows up and is a great find. This original US one sheet from 2001 features a magical image of Hogwart’s by night as the would be wizards make their way to its doors by lantern lit boats. Originally rolled (as issued) this lovely example presents very well and represents is a fine piece of genuinely rare original Harry Potter and movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The Hogwarts’ motto, “Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus”, means “never tickle a sleeping dragon”.

Several creative advertising agencies were commissioned to provide a wide and diverse range of posters for the initial release with the United States producing its own series of campaign posters under the amended ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’ title. Arguably one of the best is the painted, full cast artwork by Drew Struzan. Incredibly popular with fans and highly collectable it is no surprise that in 2023 Bottleneck Gallery released two high quality, limited edition prints of the artwork and it is the title style offered here which has been hand-numbered #95/550. The print quality and colour saturation is outstanding and truly a joy to behold in person. Originally rolled (as issued) this lovely example presents to excellent effect and represents is a fine piece of Harry Potter movie memorabilia.

Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” features the Avenger Hawkeye and ‘New Avenger’ Kate Bishop in a Disney+ series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Jeremy Renner returns as the title character, joined by Hailee Steinfeld who plays the apprentice archer Kate Bishop (both are featured on the poster) and a strong supporting cast with perhaps Florence Pugh – the new Black Widow? returning as Yelena Belova as does one of Marvels’s most iconic villains with Vincent D’Onofrio donning his trademark white suit as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. The clever design by BLT Communications was the first poster released promote the TV series. Presented here in original unrestored condition this beautiful 2021 rolled (as issued) example displays to excellent effect with the minimal of handling wear. Only ever released as a one-sheet poster in the United States and printed exclusively for the US market to promote the first Season of “Hawkeye” this is a truly scarce poster and highly sought after that represents a fine addition for any collector of original Marvel Studio posters or comic book fan memorabilia.

Officially licensed by Hammer and released in 2021 as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive, this incredible limited edition alternative movie poster for the classic “Horror of Dracula” features the distinctive artistic style of Francesco Francavilla. The photograph really doesn’t do justice to this art print, the colours are bold, appearing newly painted with Christopher Lee (Count Dracula) prominent with blood stained fangs barred and his face bathed in an eerie green colour tone. Hand-Numbered #155 from a print run of 245 it is presented in excellent condition. This high quality modern art print displays superbly and represents an extremely desirable and collectable item of British Hammer horror movie memorabilia.
Trivia: When Jonathan Harker (John Van Eyssen) meets Dracula (Sir Christopher Lee), there appears to be a statue of “Pazuzu”, the demon from The Exorcist (1973).
