  • Dirty Dancing Movie Poster

    Dirty Dancing

    £495.00

“First dance..First love..The time of your life.”

An original 1987 British UK quad film poster for the quintessential classic romance “Dirty Dancing”. This beautiful originally rolled example is pretty much faultless. A classic 80s poster featuring some of the movie’s most memorable and enduring images that is unique to British release as Baby (Jennifer Grey) and Johnny (Patrick Swayze) prepare for their iconic dance routine. Particularly scarce in such high grade condition, with this example (likely unused) easily the best I have ever offered for sale. Often seen as one the THE defining and most loved movies of the 1980s it represents a fantastic piece of original movie memorabilia.

Trivia: In an interview with AFI, Swayze explained why he thought Dirty Dancing endured for so long. “It’s got so much heart, to me,” he said. “It’s not about the sensuality; it’s really about people trying to find themselves, this young dance instructor feeling like he’s nothing but a product, and this young girl trying to find out who she is in a society of restrictions when she has such an amazing take on things.”

  • DUNE Movie Poster

    DUNE

    £395.00

“It is a world where sandworms 1,000 feet long guard creation’s greatest treasure – the spice that prolongs life. And enables the mind to fold space and slow time. Where a prophecy will be fulfilled. And a young leader with incredible powers will emerge to command an army of five million warriors in the final battle for control of a universe and its source of ultimate power. The planet called Dune.”

Much like Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” released two years earlier, David Lynch’s “Dune” (1984) received lack-lustre reviews and a poor box-office return on its initial release. Jump forward to today and “Dune” is now regarded as a genre defining masterpiece with a loyal and devoted fanbase. The poor box-office resulted in any associated cinema advertising material being junked and disposed of, making any paper highly desirable  and collectable appealing not only to film fans but fans of the bestselling Frank Herbert novels. This original British UK quad film poster from 1984 features the beautiful and distinctive ‘two moons’ artwork. Originally rolled, as issued to the cinema this superb example displays to excellent effect being presented in totally unrestored high grade condition that represents a fantastic piece of scarce original sci-fi movie memorabilia for an incredible looking movie.

Trivia: The total number of production crew came to 1,700. This movie required eighty sets built on sixteen soundstages. More than six years in the making, it required writer and director David Lynch‘s work for three and a half years.

  • E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Movie Poster

    E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

    £295.00

“He is afraid. He is totally alone. He is 3 million light years from home.”

“E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” is the film which Steven Spielberg says epitomises his career. A true classic for all ages. Spielberg chose a regular collaborator in the artist John Alvin to create the marketing poster, and it’s fair to say that he (along with design agency Intralink Film Graphic Design – taking inspiration from Michelangelo’s ‘Creation of Adam’ painting which adorns the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel)  has produced one of the cinema’s classic, timeless posters, that is immediately recognisable as the finger tips of E.T. & Elliott touch to create that spark of friendship. Certainly the best example we have ever offered for sale and very hard to find in this outstanding rolled (as issued) condition and a marvellous item of truly collectable  cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: Richard Attenborough later said that he felt bad that his own film, Gandhi (1982), beat this film to the Best Picture Academy Award because he considered his friend Steven Spielberg‘s film more deserving of the award and was convinced before the ceremony that it would win. Attenborough described E.T. as “a quite extraordinary piece of cinema”.
