By Crom ! you will struggle find a nicer example of this classic Schwarzenegger film poster for sale. Stunning original 1982 British UK quad from Arnold Schwarzenneger’s break through role as Robert E. Howard’s “Conan the Barbarian”. Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Valeria (Sandahl Bergman) feature in beautifully painted artwork by highly acclaimed movie poster artist Renato Casaro. Presented in excellent unrestored, folded (as issued) condition. Totally bad-ass original cinematic movie memorabilia, “Conan The Barbarian” along with the original “Terminator” of 1984 and “Predator” (1987) are easily the greatest films that Arnold Schwarzenegger ever starred in, and is a sword and sorcery epic that outshines everything else in the field by far.

Trivia: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sandahl Bergman did their own stunts, as suitable body doubles couldn’t be found.

Film Description

Conan the Barbarian Movie Poster

“Beyond the mists of time, having witnessed the brutal death of his blacksmith father and the massacre of the entire village by the murderous followers of Thulsa Doom, the undead evil wizard and servant of the serpent-god, Set, Conan, the orphaned young Cimmerian, is condemned to a life of slavery. Chained to the perpetual Wheel of Pain, the helpless boy grows into a man, and after years of rigorous training as a fierce gladiator, Conan, now an unstoppable mountain of muscle, regains his precious freedom. But, with the image of the blood-soaked raid etched on his mind, Conan teams up with Subotai, the Hyrkanian thief, and Valeria, the Queen of the Bandits, and embarks on a peril-laden journey to the mysterious Mountain of Power, and the impregnable Snake Cult Temple. Will Conan avenge his parents ?”

Conan the Barbarian is one of those films that just shouldn’t work on paper, but somehow ends up not only working, but becoming a classic. Everything is right here thanks to John Milius‘ unashamed bigger-than-life-direction and the perfect casting of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role that created his legend. He takes him serious and dares to go far enough with the grandness, something few directors would dare do today for fear of being labeled pretentious.

Combine this with probably the best film score ever written, and you have movie magic. Basil Poledouris score is such a classic that every other composer has ripped it off a thousand times, and rightly so. It’s the grand-daddy of Wagnerian tour-de-force action adventure scoring and the movie that put Arnold on the map to becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
