“Man Has Made His Match… Now It’s His Problem.”
Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” iconic dystopian classic is unquestionably one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. And for the 10th Anniversary in 1992 die hard fans and cinema goers had the chance to see it again, at its best on the big screen, when the Ridley Scott released his “Blade Runner: The Director’s Cut” across the UK in a limited number of cinemas. Given that the design of the original 1982 British quad is rather ‘bland’ & uninspiring, John Alvin’s hugely popular US/International style artwork from 1982 was re-imagined and incorporated into the horizontal landscape format of the British quad for this 1992 Anniversary release. The UK quad film poster offered here is unrestored and presented in generally excellent condition, originally folded(as issued) this displays very well with just minor handling wear…A truly fine example of original film movie memorabilia for one of the most influential film’s not just of the sci-fi genre but modern pop culture in general.
Trivia: Trivia: The film suffered at the box office, because it opened at the same time as E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982). The movie The Thing (1982) suffered a similar fate due to the same reason. Although there was praise for the visual style, word of mouth about the film’s slow pace and bleak themes quickly caused a decrease in attendance ratings. Both movies would later reach cult status and receive critical praise.
