  “Tonight is what it means to be young…”

  After making his buddy cop hit “48 Hours” Walter Hill directed a film that was inspired by the movies he grew up on. It was a wild homage filled with the kinds of images and themes he loved most about those movies such as: “custom cars, kissing in the rain, neon, trains in the night, high-speed pursuit, rumbles, rock stars, motorcycles, jokes in tough situations, leather jackets and questions of honor.” What Hill created was “Streets of Fire” (1984) a 1980’s meets retro 1950’s musical-action-crime-comedy B-movie epic. The film stars Michael Pare as Tom Cody an ex-soldier who returns to his home to rescue his ex-girlfriend, a singer named Ellen Aim (Diane Lane) from the clutches of evil biker gang leader Raven Shaddock (Willem Dafoe). The music (heavily influenced by Meatloaf’s guru Jim Steinman) featured in the film also reflected the odd 1950’s meets the 1980’s backdrop with its diverse rockabilly, doo-wop, blues and New Wave sounds…Even though “Streets of Fire” didn’t do well when it was released, over the years it has developed a cult following because of its unique qualities. The colourful eye catching poster art by Riehm for the film reflects the furiously stylised aesthetic that was used to tell the rock n’ roll  fable of love ! Originally rolled (as issued) this beautiful unrestored 1984 US one sheet film poster presents superbly and represents a fine piece of original very collectable movie / music memorabilia…“A Rock ‘n’ Roll Fable !”

  Trivia: The car that Cody (Michael Pare) drives in the movie is a 1951 Mercury that was chopped, channelled, nosed, and decked.

  The Grand Budapest Hotel

  “Are you Monsieur Gustave of the Grand Budapest Hotel in Nebelsbad ?”

  A beautiful movie poster for Wes Anderson’s best film to date, the multi Oscar winning 2014 production “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. Designed by creative arts agency BLT Communications, this original 2014 UK Quad film poster is the Style B version featuring the titular hotel and has been finished in a vintage / retro style which  looks quite amazing; very impressive and the landscape layout of the British quad is the best way to display the imagery. Although a huge success with audiences and critics alike the movie is considered “art-house” or “independent” and had a very limited cinema release meaning any paper from the title is truly scarce. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect. “The Grand Budapest Hotel” poster design  has become a modern cinematic classic, that appeals not only to film enthusiasts but also to collectors of design, fashion and contemporary art. With its striking pink façade and storybook alpine setting, it makes an exceptional display piece and remains one of the most desirable modern film posters on the market, valued for both its cultural significance and long-term collectability.

  Trivia: Ralph Fiennes partly based his character’s vocal traits on English comic actor Leonard Rossiter.

Elvis fan Nicholas Cage (Sailor) sports mirrored shades and a snake skin jacket that the King would have been proud of as he blazes a trail in his Blue Thunderbird complete with girlfriend Laura Dern (Lula) courtesy of cult Director David Lynch. Rare original first release 1990 UK quad poster designed by The Creative Partnership for this surreal David Lynch classic. With beautiful deep colour tones (that pop from the paper) and memorable design this original 1990 UK film poster is extremely scarce and sought after. Although a photographic image the iconic ‘Wild at Heart’ logo is subtly inserted into the bottom right area of the poster. It looks stunning with the desirability of this scarce piece further enhanced as it is beautifully presented in near perfect, unrestored, rolled condition. an impressive and quality item movie memorabilia for a very rare and collectable film poster from one of Cinema’s most revered ‘cult’ directors.

  Trivia: The distinctive snakeskin jacket Sailor wears in the film was actually Nicolas Cage‘s own. Cage asked director David Lynch if he could wear the jacket in the film, as a tribute to Marlon Brando‘s role in The Fugitive Kind (1960). After filming was completed, Cage gave his jacket to Laura Dern.
