Back in the early 1980’s when the character of John J. Rambo was introduced to movie screens, filmgoers were dealing with a character that was not displayed as an action icon, but a man who had a lot of demons within him. This is perfectly related here with possibly the imagery of Stallone as the ‘All-American hero’ Rambo on this original 1982 UK Quad film poster for “First Blood”. Beautiful artwork by Drew Struzan using acrylic & coloured pencils this is character defining artwork provides a fitting highlight to one of Stallone’s best films and a reminder as to why he was the most bankable star of the 1980’s. Originally folded (as issued) and totally unrestored, the UK quad film poster offered here remains in excellent high grade condition and represents a first class piece of impressive, very collectable original movie memorabilia for a true Hollywood legend.
Trivia: Rambo’s trademark combat knife was custom designed by the late Arkansas knife maker Jimmy Lile. The movie popularized knock-off hollow handled survival knives with compasses in the pommel.

An all-action sweeping vista of a film poster for Glen A. Larson’s sci-fi ‘epic’ “Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack”. Receiving a full cinematic release in Europe & the UK (it was a edited together version of 3 TV shows released in the USA) largely cashing in on the still very popular ‘Star Wars’ phenomena. With some colourful, dynamic sci-fi artwork by Robert Tanenbaum (a homage to Tom Chantrell’s famous Style C art for ‘Star Wars’ perhaps ?) this original 1979 UK quad film poster is presented in excellent original unrestored, folded (as issued) condition that looks superb and displays to excellent effect with minimal age and handling wear; colours are deep and unfaded with some truly rip roaring imagery. This fine example represents a fantastic piece of very collectable and desirable original movie memorabilia for a much loved and hugely popular film and TV franchise.

“Oh! What a Lovely War” was Richard Attenborough’ Directorial debut in 1969 and also resulted in a highly patriotic film poster with a Union Jack design and as Sim Branagan states in his 2006 book “British Film Posters” – “A clever and appealing spoof of the classic Kitchener call-up poster”. With initial design by John Billingham and finished artwork by Brian Sanders each section of the Union Jack flag feature a scene from the movie and include General Haig (John Mills) playing leap frog and Brighton Pier with the colours red, white and blue are enhanced with Khaki, lilac and different shades of blue, red & green. An exceptional and eye-catching looking film poster with superbly detailed imagery, this really is a beautifully designed stand out poster and is becoming increasingly hard to find. Originally folded (as issued) this 1969 UK quad film poster displays superbly with vibrant unfaded colour tones. Laurent Durieux’s 2018 screen print for Michael Cimino’s The Deer Hunter (1978). Released by Nautilus Art Prints, this print is signed and hand-numbered #43 from a limited print run of 375. It was voted Expresso Beans’ cinema poster of the year in 2018. Printed using eleven colour inks, Durieux’s illustration is a split mirror image composition showing Robert De Niro’s character Michael hunting in the tranquil mountains of Pennsylvania, and as a soldier in war torn Vietnam beset by explosions and helicopters. Beautiful colours and clever composition make for an impressive poster. Presented in excellent condition this rolled (as issued) example displays superbly and is an impressive piece of stylish poster artwork and is a hugely desirable alternative movie poster.
Trivia: According to Michael Cimino, Robert De Niro requested a live cartridge in the revolver for the scene in which Michael subjects Stanley to an impromptu game of Russian Roulette, to heighten the intensity of the situation. John Cazale agreed without protest, but obsessively rechecked the gun before each take, to make sure that the live round wasn’t next in the chamber.

Notable for a mix of striking Frank McCarthy artwork and photographs (a typical feature of Japanese poster design) this is a stunning original Japanese B2 film poster for Robert Aldrich’s 1967 World War 2 action extravaganza “The Dirty Dozen”. With artwork exclusive to this release Lee Marvin takes centre stage , machine gun blazing , charging into battle against a background of action scenes and co-stars, cleverly featured in a hand grenade illustration. Originally rolled (as issued) to Japanese cinemas this beautiful unrestored example presents to excellent. Hugely collectable; very rare first release poster for a war movie that is oft judged as one of the best from the action adventure genre.
Trivia: Woody Allen joined Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson and Telly Savalas to play poker when filming was finished for the day. He was simultaneously filming Casino Royale (1967) in London and earning “a fat salary”. Filming was so far behind schedule, that he would gladly hook up with the cast for a few hands of poker.

An original country of origin UK quad film poster from the original year of release 1979 for J. Lee Thompson’s brutal World War II thriller “The Passage”. The movie has an all-star cast; James Mason, Anthony Quinn, Malcolm McDowell who are featured through binocular lens’ on what is a very cleverly designed poster with the distinctive cap of a Nazi SS officer blended into the outline of the Pyrenees mountain range offset against a bright red background. Originally folded (as issued) it displays and presents to excellent effect. A hard poster to find, they are available but scarce in such high grade unrestored condition; the deep red background and colours are vivid, bright & unfaded and the design eye-catching and memorable. A desirable and collectable film poster that represents a fine example of original movie memorabilia.

An exceptionally rare Indian Three-Sheet from 1969 (the first year of release in India) for Brian G. Hutton’s action packed World War II thriller “Where Eagles Dare” features artwork by C. Mohan based on the original design by Frank McCarthy. The cable car scene is one of the best remembered and most famous scenes from the film and all of the elements are the same, from Eastwood on the cable car to the Castle of The Eagle engulfed in flames in the background. Fans of Bollywood will know at least one of C. Mohan’s pieces as he designed the title for “Sholay”, which is widely considered the greatest Bollywood movie of all time. One of the most collected British action adventure war films ever produced, with the originally folded (as issued) example offered here being presented conservation linen-backed – it displays to excellent with colours that pop, thanks to the stone litho printing process. Of all the action / adventure films I deal with there is no doubt that “Where Eagles Dare” appears to have an incredible fan base and this superb poster represents a fine piece of original movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The driving force behind this movie was Richard Burton‘s stepson, who wanted to see his stepfather in a good old-fashioned adventure movie. Burton approached producer Elliott Kastner for ideas, who asked Alistair MacLean. At that time, most of MacLean’s novels had either been made into movies, or were in the process of being filmed. Kastner persuaded MacLean to write a new story. Six weeks later, MacLean delivered the script.

Trivia: Despite Clint Eastwood‘s reputation for violence in other films, his character kills more people in this film than any other Eastwood character.
