Artist Tyler Stout is no stranger to horror icons and has now has created an award-winning “Frankenstein Monster” print for the 2025 Universal Monsters Art Show, held simultaneously at the Canopy Gallery, in Austin, Texas and Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles during October in 2025. Stout’s giant-sized tribute to Frankenstein is as bold and electrifying as the creature himself. It certainly isn’t your average print, and instead of sticking to standard alternative movie poster dimensions (24″ x 36″ – 61 x 91.5 cm), Stout went huge, and this piece stretches to an impressive 24″ x 72″ (61 x 193 cm) and is printed in two sections, echoing the towering presence of the Monster. Expertly printed by DL Screenprinting it comes in an edition of 300 with the example being offered here hand-numbered #259. Highly collectible, an excellent piece of movie art memorabilia.
Commissioned by Rob Jones, he had this to say about the project and Tyler Stout – “The work of Tyler Stout undoubtedly popularized the notion of alternate film posters more than other artists in the field. His work spoke to people with active relationships to cinema. Tyler hoped to evoke a pop culture icon that beckoned from the back pages of his childhood comic books: the Jack Davis ‘Life Size Frankenstein’ poster. To make that happen feasibly as a screenprint, he divided the image across two 24 x 36-inch sheets. Results are unlike any other AMP made for Frankenstein. I adore the result and perhaps overly identify with Henry Frankenstein, so consumed with personal pursuit that Tyler shows him living within the confines of his own work, i.e., the monster.”
Trivia: Boris Karloff‘s Monster in this film does not physically resemble the character in Mary Shelley‘s novel. It was make-up artist Jack P. Pierce who came up with innovations such as the Monster’s flat head, the bolts through the neck, the droopy eyelids, and the poorly-fitted suit. Any future Frankenstein film that features any of these physical abnormalities is taking its inspiration from Pierce’s make-up work.

“Guardians of the Galaxy”… A bizarre assembly of misfits and losers which includes a gun-wielding genetically altered raccoon and a fighting tree creature whose could only speak a single phrase…“I am Groot”. Marvel was taking a chance, but needn’t have worried…Guardians was critical and commercial juggernaut which redefined the super hero genre and direction Marvel was to take. Being one of the most popular subjects for alternative movie posters, artist Tyler Stout has created an incredible looking poster and one of my personal favourites for the movie. This hand-numbered #458/750 screen print is a perfect example of Stout’s unique linear style. It truly is a stunning piece that has captured the actors’ likenesses with real accuracy and a perfect composition. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect, absolutely beautiful and a desirable item of modern collectable movie memorabilia from a truly exciting and cool film franchise.
Trivia: The sensor that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) looks at when detecting the extra-dimensional creature during the opening of the movie is a modified 1977 Mattel handheld “Electronic Football” video game. Selling over one million units, this was one of the hottest items of Christmas 1977. The beep at the beginning is the “touchdown” sound, whilst the other beeps are the sound of the ball moving down the field.

“The Trick Was To Stay Alive”
John Carpenter’s masterpiece of modern horror “Halloween” was the first and by far the best of this enduring film franchise which acted as the definitive slasher flick. The artwork for any of the film poster produced are all extremely collectable and strikingly individual in design; from the ‘Jack O’Lantern’ US one sheet to the UK quad film poster featuring a screaming Jamie Lee Curtis as Michael Myers’ hand appears at the car window; all seen through an icy blue haze. Offered here is one of the best of the more modern alternative movie poster designs by the artist Tyler Stout. Stout’s unique linear style and use of autumnal colour tones makes for a truly distinctive piece. Released in 2021 as a timed limited edition of only 2,170 (this is hand-numbered #1073) it immediately became a huge fan favourite. Originally rolled, flat-unfolded (as issued) the example offered displays to exceptional effect and represents a truly outstanding and extremely desirable item of collectable John Carpenter horror movie memorabilia.
Trivia: John Carpenter considered the hiring of Jamie Lee Curtis as the ultimate tribute to Sir Alfred Hitchcock who had given her mother, Janet Leigh, legendary status in Psycho (1960) (for the same reason, Dr. Sam Loomis was named after Sam Loomis from Psycho). During the same period, Universal studio producers and director Richard Franklin were trying to enroll Jamie Lee in the new production of Psycho II (1983).

One of the most recognisable and sought after of all the “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” alternative movie and it comes from Tyler Stout – one of the most collectable and influential artists currently working. Stout has created an incredible looking poster and one of my personal favourites for the movie. This hand-numbered #676/850 screen print is a perfect example of Stout’s unique detailed linear style. It truly is a stunning piece that has captured the actors’ likenesses with real accuracy and a perfect composition that incorporates many of the recognisable scenes and spacecraft, so familiar to sci fi fans. Released in 2010 to coincide with an Alamo Drafthouse screening and immediately selling out on release. Flat and unfolded (as issued) this beautiful example presents to excellent effect with only minimal handling wear that represents a scarce and desirable piece of Star Wars cinematic movie memorabilia from what has become one of the most collectable and popular modern movie franchises.
Trivia: George Lucas‘ decision to accept a lower salary on the movie in exchange for full merchandising rights was considered a fool’s gamble on his part. Although some movie-toy combinations had done moderate retail returns at the time, they had never been major money-earners because of the long gap between when a movie would go through its theatrical run and when any products based on it would be available. This movie, however, was such a phenomenon that it reached the holiday 1977 sales period in full swing, and changed the way how movies were merchandised forever.
