John Carpenter’s masterpiece of modern horror “Halloween” was the first and by far the best of this enduring film franchise which acted as the definitive slasher flick. The artwork for any of the film poster produced are all extremely collectable and strikingly individual in design; from the ‘Jack O’Lantern’ US one sheet to the UK quad film poster featuring a screaming Jamie Lee Curtis as Michael Myers’ hand appears at the car window; all seen through an icy blue haze. Stout’s unique linear style and use of autumnal colour tones makes for a truly distinctive piece. What is Giclee ?
Derived from the French term gicler – meaning ‘to squirt or spray’, the term describes a printing process whereby microscopic dots of pigment-based ink are sprayed onto archival-quality paper to ensure the fidelity of a limited edition print to an original artwork.
The richness, accuracy and depth of colour is thanks to the method’s potential to achieve a huge colour gamut (the spectrum of colours distinguishable by the human eye). Unlike the four tones used in lithography, giclées often use five: light cyan, cyan, light magenta, yellow and black.
Fantastic for reproductions which require maximum detail, giclées are most commonly found on watercolour paper or canvas, but can also be created on glass. Different types of paper will produce different effects. Matte paper works well behind glass due its lack of reflectivity, whilst the shine of a glossy finish can give an artwork a brighter appearance.

A sequel in name only as it didn’t feature Michael Myers but took a new take on the mythos as ancient witchcraft meets modern technology in the form of Silver Shamrock masks. The content and characterisations are super realistic, layout and colours perfectly balanced and a near perfect example of a re-imagined poster. 1987 was the end of a historic movie tradition as Brian Bysouth produced the last artist drawn painted James Bond film poster (Fascinating Brian Bysouth interview with Eddie Shannon of Film on Paper) for Timothy Dalton’s 007 debut as “The most dangerous Bond…Ever” in “The Living Daylights”. Bysouth has used the classic image of Bond viewed through the end of a gun barrel to fine effect and further embellished the finished design with great action scenes and marvellous renditions of the latest Bond-girl, Maryam d’Abo and of course the classic Aston Martin (in this case a V8 Vantage Volante). The original 1987 UK (country of origin) quad movie poster offered here is presented in high grade unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition and perfectly suited to the landscape style for which it was designed for. Colours are bright and unfaded, the black background a deep black and the white areas truly bright. Hugely desirable and very collectable, it would be a worthy addition to any collection of James Bond cinematic movie memorabilia.
Trivia: This was the last James Bond film to use an original Ian Fleming title until Casino Royale (2006), a gap of almost twenty years.

Original Gramercy Pictures country of origin, one-sheet movie poster for the slapstick Kevin Smith romantic comedy, “Mallrats” starring Shannen Doherty, Jeremy London, Claire Forlani and Jason Lee. All of whom are featured on this 1995 comic book style film poster by Drew Struzan. This is the story of two friends who both lose their girlfriends on the same day and spend the rest of the day hanging out in a local mall with their wacky friends. With a clever design, Struzan does a great job of representing the characters, making them instantly recognisable; the addition of Stan Lee is a nice touch and he looks particularly cool. It displays to excellent effect and is presented in unrestored, rolled (as issued) condition. A rare high grade item of movie memorabilia for a very collectable ‘cult’ comedy film.
Trivia: Brodie’s comic book collection seen in the movie was director Kevin Smith‘s collection at the time (which has grown considerably since). The collection is what Smith was able to purchase back after selling his original collection to finance production of Clerks (1994).

One of the best films of the 1980’s and certainly one of Schwarzenegger’s finest roles, “Predator“ is a film I’ve seen more times than I care to remember. Directed by John McTiernan, who would go on to helm “Die Hard” the following year (arguably the greatest action movie ever made), the film is an excellent mix of gung-ho action and sci-fi horror with a truly iconic monster (designed by Stan Winston). The rare and original UK quad film poster offered here is from first year of release 1987 and was created by a team at the FEREF design agency, including Stephen Laws, Frank Hillary and acclaimed movie poster artist Brian Bysouth. This was one of the first film posters by the artist to have been created with photo composition and not painted, as had been the case with his previous posters. This ‘thermal imaging’ version has a great action image of Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and is considered a classic amongst collectors of the genre. Originally rolled (as issued – this is the first time we have ever offered a rolled one) this beautiful unrestored example displays and presents to excellent effect. Extremely hard to find in this high grade condition it represents a fine piece of collectable original movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The Predator costume weighed over two hundred pounds, and even though 7’2″ Kevin Peter Hall was a large and powerful man, he had to be connected to a “bungie” rig, to enable him to move more believably.

The success of “Predator” when released in 1987 meant a sequel was always inevitable, however the action hero of the first movie wasn’t available – move over Arnie and welcome Danny Glover. Not only was there a new direction for the hero but the jungles of South America were swapped for a crime ridden Los Angeles. A clever follow up in many ways as it really does continue where the first movie finished as the Government, now fully aware of an other worldly being try to turn the tables and trap a predator – bad move. This 2021 Private Commission by Juan Carlos Ruiz Burgos features spectacular artwork, and is actually the first time a licensed print for “Predator 2” has been issued, and frankly it would be a hard to find a better one as Burgos really has created something special. Titled ‘The Concrete Jungle‘ it is printed on Cougar White paper using fifteen (15) coloured inks which includes a glitter varnish used to mimic the wet skin of the Predator and a bright luminous green glow in the dark ink for the title. Hand-numbered #45 from a print run 110 this beautiful example displays and presents to excellent effect and represents an incredible looking piece of modern cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Keyes (Gary Busey) is the first character to ever use the word “predator” to refer to the creature on-screen when he says “we’ve prepared a trap for this predator”. The word “predators” is also used by Isabelle in Predators (2010), but she uses it to refer to the human characters in the film, not the Predator creatures. It wasn’t until The Predator (2018) that the creature itself is referred to as ‘predator’ again, with someone adding that the term ‘hunter’ would be more appropriate.

An original 1990 British video (VHS) poster for the quintessential classic romance “Pretty Woman”. This beautiful originally rolled example is pretty much faultless. A classic 90s poster featuring the two stars – Julia Roberts and Richard Gere with imagery that was used for the worldwide marketing campaign . Particularly scarce in such high grade condition with a high gloss finish (the cinema posters don’t have this) that really adds a touch of quality to the finish and makes the white background really pop. Often seen as one the THE defining and most loved movies of the 1990s it represents a fantastic piece of movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Julia Roberts‘s head was superimposed on Shelley Michelle‘s body for the poster. Richard Gere‘s hair is brown on the poster, but going grey in the movie.

In 1983 “Risky Business” was Paul Brickman’s stylish and intelligent film that redefined the teen angst comedy and created a new movie star in Tom Cruise. One of the most desirable of all the Tom Cruise titles the original 1983 UK quad movie poster offered here is presented in excellent condition with only very minimal handling wear. Originally rolled (as issued) it displays superbly with amazing graphics and bright colours offset the dark unfaded black background. Fantastic imagery where you could be fooled in to thinking it was an advert for Porsche cars or Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses and not the one of the defining teen movies of the 1980’s. A genuinely rare (in this high grade condition) piece of original highly collectable movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The sunglasses Joel wears are the Ray-Ban Wayfarer model. Annual sales of Wayfarers were languishing as of 1983 but skyrocketed 2,000 percent after the movie’s release. This film and The Blues Brothers (1980) have contributed to the popularity of the Wayfarers since.

Trivia: The Golden Fertility Idol from the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) is on a table in Dryden Vos’s meeting room. Harrison Ford, who originally played Han Solo, also played Indiana Jones. Director Ron Howard confirmed this Easter egg on Twitter.
