“This time he’s fighting for his life”
Back in the early 1980’s when the character of John J. Rambo was introduced to movie screens, filmgoers were dealing with a character that was not displayed as an action icon, but a man who had a lot of demons within him. This is perfectly related here with possibly the imagery of Stallone as the ‘All-American hero’ Rambo on this original 1982 UK Quad film poster for “First Blood”. Beautiful artwork by Drew Struzan using acrylic & coloured pencils this is character defining artwork provides a fitting highlight to one of Stallone’s best films and a reminder as to why he was the most bankable star of the 1980’s. Originally folded (as issued) and totally unrestored, the UK quad film poster offered here remains in excellent high grade condition and represents a first class piece of impressive, very collectable original movie memorabilia for a true Hollywood legend.
Trivia: Rambo’s trademark combat knife was custom designed by the late Arkansas knife maker Jimmy Lile. The movie popularized knock-off hollow handled survival knives with compasses in the pommel.

“This time he’s fighting for his life”
The isolation, violence and emotional intensity of Ted Kotcheff’s “First Blood” are captured in this richly detailed alternative movie poster by acclaimed Thai artist Wiwat (Wiwatchai Yuktavate). The sweeping composition places Sylvester Stallone’s John Rambo at its centre, surrounded by scenes charting the troubled veteran’s arrival in Hope and his escalating conflict with the local authorities.
Wiwat incorporates Colonel Trautman, Sheriff Teasle, Deputy Galt and the pursuing National Guard alongside the film’s mountain landscapes, motorcycle chase, police roadblock and burning service station. The contrasting fire-red and cold blue palette reflects both the explosive action and the bleak wilderness setting, while the intricate character portraiture rewards close inspection.
Screen-printed using 11 coloured inks on Fedrigoni Freelife Vellum White paper, the design is further enhanced by a spot-gloss varnish layer applied to the blood-red title, adding depth and contrast to the finish.Hand-numbered #31 from a limited edition of only 55, this scarce poster measures 24 x 36 inches, and is offered in excellent rolled (as issued) condition. With tremendous visual impact, it makes a superb display piece for collectors of Sylvester Stallone, “First Blood” and contemporary alternative movie-poster art.
Trivia: Rambo’s trademark combat knife was custom designed by the late Arkansas knife maker Jimmy Lile. The movie popularized knock-off hollow handled survival knives with compasses in the pommel.
