    Escape From New York

    £225.00

“The world’s greatest leader is a hostage in the most dangerous place on Earth. Now only the deadliest man alive can save him.”

You probably couldn’t find better movie from the 1980’s that introduces such an iconic cult character in Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken (criminally only used in one more movie) or sums up the period quite like John Carpenter’s quintessential  sci-fi actioner “Escape From New York”. Carpenter always a well regarded and popular film maker has enjoyed a huge renaissance in more recent years so it was no surprise that this title was one of four seminal movies by the director re-released by Studio Canal in 2018, remastered in 4K, with the others being “They Live”, “Prince of Darkness” and “The Fog”. All four movies had a strictly limited cinematic release and were accompanied a newly designed poster campaign (quads and one-sheets) by leading artist Matt Ferguson. Ferguson’s unique artistic style is evident throughout the four, each with its very own unique colour palette. A number of these full-size 30″ x 40″ UK quad styles were also released as a limited edition art print by Vice Press. Identical to the cinematic quad, in fact exactly the same – same paper, printer etc these were issued as timed releases each signed and hand-numbered by Matt Ferguson. Offered here is one of these signed art prints numbered #48 from a print run of only 231. Originally rolled (as issued) it presents in excellent condition. A cool, cult poster that represents very collectable & desirable original film memorabilia from one of the greatest and most influential director’s who is still actively working in the film industry.

  • One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Movie Poster

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest

    £195.00

“If he’s crazy, what does that make you ?”

Critical and commercial success of this magnitude is a rare occurrence and Jack Nicholson has every right to look ecstatic as “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” walked away with the BIG FIVE Oscar wins; Best Actor: Jack Nicholson, Best Actress: Louise Fletcher, Best Director: Milos Forman, Best Screenplay: Lawrence Hauben & Bo Goldman & the biggie for Best Picture. When re-released by the BFI in 2017, graphic designer Kyle Robertson was commissioned to create a new poster, and it’s fair to say it what he has produced surpasses the original. Exclusive to this British release it’s a stunning and incredibly scarce example of modern poster design, perfectly suited to the landscape format of the UK quad. Originally rolled (as issued) this superb example presents extremely well and represents a beautiful example of original cinematic movie memorabilia from one of the best and most acclaimed film’s of the 70’s.

Trivia: Second of only three movies, the other two being It Happened One Night (1934) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991), to win every major Academy Award (Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, and Screenplay, Adapted or Original).

  • The Shawshank Redemption Movie Poster

    Shawshank Redemption, The

    £525.00

“Fear can hold you prisoner…Hope can set you free”

“The Shawshank Redemption” has achieved (rightly so) legendary status since its first release in 1994 seemingly appearing in every Top Ten Favourite film poll ever published. On first release it suffered from poor viewership and competition from other films such as Pulp Fiction, and was a box office disappointment, despite receiving multiple award nominations (including seven Oscar nominations) highly positive reviews from critics for its acting, story, and realism. Through Ted Turner’s acquisition of Castle Rock Entertainment, the film started gaining more popularity in 1997 after it started near-daily airings on Turner’s TNT network. This strategy along with a determined and widespread release on video has propelled the movie to the legendary status it enjoys today. The finished poster showing Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) arms outstretched, crucifix style looking up to heavens in the pouring rain is one of the best posters created (in my opinion) for any movie and a true personal favourite that’s perfectly suited to the landscape format of the British Quad; even better in my opinion than the one sheet. The orange background gives the appearance of the figure being bathed in the light of hope to emphasise the journey from the dark of the prison to eventual redemption. Likely unused, it is the best example of the poster I have ever offered for sale. Presented rolled (as issued) with beautiful colour tones it really fine piece of rare original cinematic memorabilia from one of the Hollywood’s greatest films.

Trivia: Despite the film’s box-office failure, Warner Brothers shipped 320,000 rental copies to U.S. video stores, a figure a spokesman freely admitted was “out of whack” with the film’s performance in cinemas. The film became the most rented video of 1995, and one of the highest-grossing video rentals of all time.
