Although a relatively recent release any paper for Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2016 violent horror thriller “Neon Demon” is extremely scarce. His award winning film was complemented with a series of award winning movie posters, with this stunning UK quad designed by the creative arts agency AllCity. Although popular with audiences and critics alike the movie is considered “art-house” or “independent” and had a very limited cinema release resulting in the scarcity of the poster. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with minimal handling wear; the colours of the deep blues and purples are dark and unfaded. An extremely scarce, modern original collectable movie memorabilia from a truly talented director that looks very very cool !
Trivia: The second film by Nicolas Winding Refn to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival that received both booing and cheering after the press showing. The first film was Only God Forgives (2013)

One of the great silent films, Georg Wilhelm Pabst’s “Pandora’s Box” is renowned for its sensational storyline, sparkling Weimar-period setting and the legendary, lead performance from its iconic star Louise Brooks who is featured prominently on the poster imagery. As a general rule BFI re-release posters are incredibly scarce due to limited print runs and distribution, being shown in literally a handful of independent and ‘art-house’ cinemas with the updated imagery often superior to many of the original release designs. The rolled (as issued) UK quad offered here is from the 2020 digital restoration BFI release and displays to excellent effect with beautiful imagery and design; lovely bright bold colours. A fantastic looking item and a fine piece of cinema memorabilia for a true classic of the silent era.
Trivia: Despite being replaced by Louise Brooks at the last minute for the role of Lulu in Pandora’s Box (1929), Marlene Dietrich managed to snag another coveted role. Her removal from “Pandora’s Box” freed her up to play one of her most iconic roles, Lola Lola in Josef von Sternberg‘s The Blue Angel (1930).

Through films like Okja and Snowpiercer, director Bong Joon Ho has dazzled audiences with his unique knack for blending genres to tell layered, one-of-a-kind stories and now in the multi Academy Award winning “Parasite” he is receiving the critical and commercial acclaim he so richly deserves. To complement the Oscar success the hugely respected creative arts agency La Boca were commissioned to design a film poster to accompany some of the post Oscar screenings, resulting in a very special poster depicting a cut-away house image (look closely and you will see an Oscar underneath the table on the central far left illustration) that is unique to this British format. The original 2019 UK quad poster offered here presents and displays to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued). An outstanding and extremely scarce ‘modern’ art/film poster that represents a fantastic piece of movie memorabilia.
Trivia: The film makes several nods to Alfred Hitchcock throughout. Stairs are used as a motif, voyeurism is used as characters watch scenes through windows 14 times, and (most obviously) there is a brief glimpse of an out of place Alfred Hitchcock collection in the Park’s home.

To complement the Oscar success the hugely respected alternative movie poster printer Mondo commissioned Rory Kurtz to design a poster to complement the success. Winning four (4) Oscars at the 2020 ceremony, including Best Picture, Directing, International Feature Film and Writing (Original Screenplay). Kurtz’ artwork captures the seemingly picture-perfect moment between the happily rich Parks completely oblivious to what’s unfolding around them, and the Kim family relegated to the shadows struggling with their own complex feelings toward such wealth and privilege. This is a limited edition timed released, hand-numbered #616/2120. The example offered here presents and displays to excellent effect being originally rolled (as issued) with incredibly strong colours. An outstanding and extremely scarce ‘modern’ art/film poster that represents a fantastic piece of movie memorabilia.

There is no doubting the influence and impact of Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 masterpiece “Pulp Fiction” and like so many of the Tarantino films the paper from each has become hugely collectable, but it is the posters from “Pulp Fiction” that are easily the most popular and valuable. The Japanese B2 film poster offered here is no exception. This Style A “white” version features a design unique to Japan with the John Travolta & Uma Thurman key ‘dance off’ scene as the central focus and Bruce Willis as the back drop with Travolta (again) as hitman Vincent Vega in the foreground. It is also the only poster to feature head shot photographs of the main cast (running down the left edge). Unique artwork and very cool looking this is a fantastic original poster for Quentin Tarantino’s most celebrated film to date. Originally rolled (as issued) this totally unrestored example presents and displays to excellent effect without a blemish of note and represents a fantastic piece of movie memorabilia from a truly iconic movie…“I do believe Marsellus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take ME out and do WHATEVER I WANTED. Jonathan Demme’s “The Silence of the Lambs” is one of the best horror thriller movies ever made; excellent Award winning performances, full of dark humour and gory thrills. This original pair of 1991 British double crowns features a design by Marcus Silversides commissioned by the design agency BLT Communications which really is two clever and visually stunning pieces of complementing artwork with an amazing use of colour (white and pale colour tones for Clarice and deep, blood red for Lecter) and imagery featuring skull adorned winged moths over both Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal Lecter) and Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) leading characters’ mouths. Presented in very good condition these rolled (as issued) examples display superbly and represent fine pieces of original cinematic movie memorabilia.

Trivia: When Sir Anthony Hopkins found out that he was cast as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, based on his performance as Dr. Frederick Treves in The Elephant Man (1980), he questioned director Jonathan Demme, and said “But Dr. Treves was a good man”, to which Demme replied “So is Lecter, he is a good man too. Just trapped in an insane mind.”

For this 2023 Mad Duck release, artist Paul Mann has produced a scene based alternative movie poster. The scene featured is a pivotal scene as Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) meets with Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal Lecter) for the first time and it’s the only scene in the movie in which both actors actually appear in the same frame. Screen print finish with varnish over the glass, this hand-numbered example #180/250 is presented in excellent rolled (as issued) condition that display superbly and represents a fine item of movie poster memorabilia.

A superb pop-art style design of Twiggy draped in the British Union Jack flag, by Polish School of Posters maestro Jakub Erol features on this original Polish film poster for Ken Russell’s 1971 musical extravaganza “The Boy Friend”. Offered here is an original 1973 (first release in Poland) Polish one-sheet finished in a very striking , country unique style with this example being the first time I have offered one for sale. The Polish artists were instructed to reject Western values in their posters and were to follow rules about appropriate messaging, but other than that, they had complete artistic freedom. This resulted in some truly unique and bold designs, chock-full with individual personality, wit and subversive commentary. Heavy in metaphors and symbolism and executed in a painterly fashion with handcrafted typography the posters of the Polish School of Posters significantly influenced the international development of graphic design. Originally folded (as issued) this looks and displays very well and has benefitted greatly from being conservation linen backed; the bold colour tones are superb and unfaded and literally ‘pop’ from the paper. Guaranteed original this represents an extremely scarce and desirable item of original collectable movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Vladek Sheybal‘s character, the director De Thrill, was a parody of famed director Cecil B. DeMille, and in fact Sheybal wore a pair of the actual boots DeMille always wore.
