Designed by BLT & Associates this original Advance (June 27) US One Sheet movie poster from 1997 featuring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage for John Woo’s ultra-cool, stylish, gun fu, actioner “Face/Off”. The third (and to date, most successful) American feature from Hong Kong action director John Woo, is everything a fan of Woo’s Asian work could possibly hope for It’s a loud, fast-paced, spectacularly violent epic helmed by a master craftsman, even with this ambitious third American feature, it is vastly on par with the director’s Hong Kong work, is very easily one of the best films of his career. This rolled (as issued) example features the split images of both Cage and Travolta and is presented in excellent condition and represents a desirable item of cinematic memorabilia.
Trivia: Originally Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were in mind to play the lead roles. When John Woo was brought in to direct, he decided that John Travolta and Nicolas Cage would be more suited to the roles. Other pairs that the studio wanted was Michael Douglas (who was the executive producer for this movie) and Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis and Alec Baldwin, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal, Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes, and Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

A marvellous and eye-catching triptych of film posters from first release in 1997, designed by InSync Plus with includes the final release style US One Sheet and character posters for both Nicolas Cage and John Travolta for John Woo’s ultra-cool, stylish, gun fu, actioner “Face/Off”. Black and white blurred facial photography makes for some striking imagery with bright red detailing. The hi-gloss finish only adds to what is a fantastic looking series of three posters. Trivia: It was released in June 1997, the same month as Nicolas Cage’s other action hit Con Air (1997), which came out a few weeks earlier. The films were shot consecutively, from the summer of 1996 to spring 1997, with the two productions nearly overlapping at one point.

There is no doubting the influence and impact of Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 masterpiece “Pulp Fiction” and like so many of the Tarantino films the paper from each has become hugely collectable, but it is the posters from “Pulp Fiction” that are easily the most popular and valuable. The Japanese B2 film poster offered here is no exception. This Style A “white” version features a design unique to Japan with the John Travolta & Uma Thurman key ‘dance off’ scene as the central focus and Bruce Willis as the back drop with Travolta (again) as hitman Vincent Vega in the foreground. It is also the only poster to feature head shot photographs of the main cast (running down the left edge). Unique artwork and very cool looking this is a fantastic original poster for Quentin Tarantino’s most celebrated film to date. The impressive alternative movie poster offered here is no exception. This eye-catching, colourful design featuring one of the coolest cinema pairings in recent memory – Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent Vega (John Travolta) is by Dave Merrell was issued as a Bottleneck Gallery exclusive in 2023 in support of Brooklyn Animal. Originally rolled (as issued) this super rare example is an Private Proof (PP #15/15) presents and displays to excellent effect and represents a hugely collectable item of movie memorabilia from a truly iconic movie…“I’m sorry, did I break your concentration? I didn’t mean to do that. Please, continue, you were saying something about best intentions. What’s the matter? Oh, you were finished! Well, allow me to retort. What does Marsellus Wallace look like?”

“VENGEANCE HAS A NAME”
Taken on its own terms, “Punisher: War Zone” is everything it is supposed to be: excessively violent, larger than life, fast paced, and almost always loads of fun. War Zone doesn’t take itself seriously and it doesn’t ask the audience to do so. Firmly established as Marvels darkest and most controversial ‘hero’ it would be fair to say that The Punisher is probably best known and enjoyed by American, European and Far East fanboys than those in Britain and although heavily promoted in said areas the British release was fairly limited, with the movie being shown in only a handful of cinemas. Meaning that the accompanying film poster is genuinely scarce, which is a real shame as both LA & Ignition creative design agencies have collaborated to produce a real stand out poster for the UK quad design. This original 2008 UK quad film poster is very dark & very moody and printed on a heavy stock paper with a matt finish that only enhances the dark shadowy tones further. A real ‘peach’ of a Punisher poster. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with impressive gritty artwork that represents a fine piece of collectible ‘comic book’ cinema movie memorabilia.
Trivia: After this film, the live action film rights to the Punisher reverted back to Marvel Studios. Ray Stevenson would later appear in another Marvel production, produced by Marvel Studios this time, as Volstagg in the Thor film series.

“You make it with some of these chicks then they think you gotta dance with them”
The influence of John Badham’s “Saturday Night Fever” cannot be understated. A cultural phenomenon that pretty much affected everyone at some point…music, dancing, fashion, attitudes & John Travolta; perfectly cast as the local walking cliche Tony Manero. And it’s Travolta in the iconic white suite that dominates the familiar movie poster imagery. Well, all that’s missing in this outstanding Czech poster by Zdenek Ziegler is the white suit – Travolta is instantly recognisable surrounded by an array of disco lights. Rolled (as issued) it displays and presents in excellent high grade condition and represents a fantastic looking original movie poster with an eye-catching design…“Catch it !”
Trivia: John Travolta used two suits in the climax of the film; he had to switch suits between takes because one would become heavily soaked with sweat and had to be dried while he was wearing the other one for subsequent takes.

And it’s John Travolta who dominates this beautiful, complete set of all eight (8) US lobby cards from first year of release, 1977 as he is featured in all of the cards highlighting key scenes (he wears the famous white suit in three) from the movie. A rare find as a complete set, as most were broken up and the cards sold individually. Totally original and unrestored, the cards are presented in high grade excellent flat, unfolded (as issued) condition that display and present to excellent effect. A genuinely scarce and hard to find example of Academy Award winning film cinema memorabilia that represents a fine piece of important and influential cinema movie memorabilia.“Catch it!”

“Judge, Jury, and Executioner is what The Punisher is.”
“The Punisher” may be one of the darkest comic book characters ever created. This film and especially Thomas Jane, get that which makes this film is one of the better in the genre, because it sticks to the source better than most. By 2004 the cinema had already seen an influx of ‘big-budget’ super hero movies; X-Men, Spiderman, Hulk as well as a re-imagined Batman so a ‘new’ Punisher was a safe bet as the character of Frank Castle still one of the most popular creations and a corner stone of the ‘Marvel Universe’. Designed by creative arts agency Intralink Film Graphic Design this original 2004 UK quad film poster is typical of the character, dark & moody. Originally rolled (as issued) this looks and displays to excellent effect with impressive artwork highlighting both The Punisher (Thomas Jane) & his protagonist Howard Saint (John Travolta). It represents a fine piece of collectible ‘comic book’ cinema movie memorabilia.
Trivia: Seeing as he had only one involvement with the creation of the original Punisher character; (changing the character from ‘The Assassin’ to ‘The Punisher’) this is one of the few movies based on a Marvel Comic in which Stan Lee does not appear.
