  Sergio Leone’s final film is represented here by the atmospheric UK Quad cinema poster for “Once Upon a Time in America”. Finished artwork is provided by celebrated British advertising agency FEREF based on a design from Vic Fair, the brooding composition combines a close-up of ‘Noodles’ (Robert De Niro) with a shadowy period street scene. Its restrained blue-and-black palette reflects the film’s themes of memory, loyalty, regret and betrayal, while the striking gold title provides a vivid contrast.

  Released in 1984, Leone’s sweeping gangster epic follows childhood friends whose lives become entwined with organised crime in New York. De Niro leads an exceptional cast that includes James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern, Joe Pesci, Tuesday Weld and Treat Williams, accompanied by Ennio Morricone’s celebrated score.

  Measuring 30 × 40 inches, this highly collectable poster is presented rolled (as issued) and remains in superb condition. An exceptional display piece for admirers of Leone, De Niro and landmark crime cinema.

  Trivia: Robert De Niro requested a private meeting with renowned crime boss Meyer Lansky to prepare for his role as David “Noodles” Aaronson. The request was denied.

  Truly one of the greatest gangster films ever made Sergio Leone’s Once Upon A Time In America. An epic, episodic, tale of the lives of a small group of New York City Jewish gangsters spanning over 40 years and thankfully it has a movie poster to match it. This original 1984 US one-sheet features beautiful atmospheric design with a fantastic image of the Brooklyn Bridge and sepia colours that are a perfect complement to Leone’s film. Originally folded (as issued) this rare example is presented in beautiful unrestored condition; it presents and displays to excellent effect and represents an impressive example of very collectable original movie memorabilia from a multi award winning film and one of cinema’s leading directors.

  Trivia: Sergio Leone had refused the offer to direct The Godfather (1972), an opportunity he deeply regretted. This may have partly inspired him to try a gangster film. Leone has also notably used the flashback technique pioneered in The Godfather: Part II (1974).
